Running? No thanks --> hiking

I've being using them since March '24, so around 6 months now for up to 10 hours daily hikes. Being to Squamish, Whistler, Dolomites, Scotland and French Alps with them. They are light, comfy and I found the grip extremely good even in wet rocks. They also dry fairly quickly. Very happy and I do prefer them compared to NorVan and they have a better grip.

Ankle Annihilation in the wrong terrain

Nice shoe, great for non-technical terrain. If you find yourself running with scree, large loose rocks, roots etc, then beware, the lever arm you've created with this shoe will absolutely roll your ankle into oblivion. I, and all 5 people I know who own these shoes are very experienced runners and all of us have exploded their ankles in them. Super techy trail? Stick with the ld3, hard pack or alpine rock, these are a lovely choice.

Fast and comfortable

My first pair of Sylan Pros have just about reached their end of life after 750 km, about 150 kmk of which were in harsh, Rockies screen and talus. Overall very impressed with the durability of the shoe. Certainly not as suitable for highly technical trails or scrambling, yet they were still my choice for a few recent fast efforts with sections of climbing up to 5.6 and plenty of steep boulder hopping. The rocker took some getting used to, but after the third run they just wanted to go fast and are perfectly suited to racing and flowy trails.

I have about 300 trail miles on my Sylan pros. The are responsive, agile and the Vibram sole is great. Took about 20-30 miles to get used to the rockiness but now I rip the trails in them.

Great shoes!

Sylan has a lot more rocker compared to other shoes I’ve tried in the past. It definitely took some time to get used to this. I’ll have to be very deliberate about my foot placement during steeper downhill sections. Other than that, I enjoy the sock liner and the great traction from the Vibram outsole.

Ultra-trail ready

I have been training for several months with the Sylan Pro and just did a very technical 110km 7000d+ uktra-trail in Corsica. The shoes performed very well, very grippy on the rocks and all kind of terrain. They were comfortable enough for 34 hours of effort (I changed shoes in the middle, the same Sylan, the have dry ones).

Great shoe, runs well

I purchased the Sylan Pro and put several 100 mile on them so far. They are comfortable and provide lots of toe space. They are a bit high of the ground when in steep tricky terrain. But the main reason I only give them a 4 star rating is the way the sole is constructed. The sole tread stops short of the foam edge and creates a really slippery tread less zone if you are scrambling for footing on side hills or scree slopes where you cant plant the foot flat on the ground. I hope on future models the tread runs all the way out to create a clean edge. Then it probably deserves a 5 star rating. Meini

The absolute best trail/mountain running shoe

These are the BEST trail/mountain running shoe I have ever used! I purchased these as an upgrade to my Norvan LD3's which do not provide enough traction for mountain terrain. The Sylan Pro is exactly what I needed. The heavy rocker feels a little bit odd the first time you lace them up but have no fear, once you start moving you will not want to stop. I cannot give high enough praise for these shoes. I am very excited to see that they come up with for next years model.

More is not always better.

I bought these shoes about a month ago, and as a former elite runner and having tested the Sylan Pro on different terrains I can say that it is not a shoe at all technical or at all suitable for real mountain terrain, it is a comfortable and reactive shoe, but it is not useful to overcome steep terrain, stony, rugged or 80% trail trails. It only works well on stable and easy ground. A lot of material that is not needed, a lot of height, a lot of width and little precision would be what defines this shoe. I didn't like it, I hope that with the passing of the kms the foam will be compacted and the ground effect will be greater to be able to control them better. I have decided to remove the internal insole after 80kms to reduce the height of the foot to the ground and thus feel a little more stability I've used 5 pairs of Arcteryx Norvan SL 2 with 1,000km each, so I'm familiar with the brand.

I completely disagree. I’ve used these shoes on nearly every trail in Chamonix, where I live, and even on some easier mountaineering routes in the area. In my experience, they perform exceptionally well on rugged terrain and are also suitable for light scrambling.

Everything you hope for and more

Until these, I've always gone for zero drop or more minimalist running shoes. It took me a couple of runs to get used to the rocker and the height of the sole, but now I love them. They are incredibly light and comfortable which is great on longer runs and big days out. They are quick, with great grip on all types of terrain. I spent 2 weeks chasing mountain bikers in Chilé in these, loaded with camera gear running over roots, in sand, over rock and slab and never had to think about them. They make running fun!

Literally this! I have run in 4mm drop trail running shoes more than all other trail running shoes combined and this is by far the only non 4mm drop shoe I've fallen in love with. Love it for running over rock especially and have had success with it covering the very muddy Juan De Fuca Trail on Vancouver island. 10/10 would recommend to a friend or loved one. Please make a stripped down shoe with similar tread for shorter races and runs!

Downhill Machine

I've been running in LD3s for over a year, they're excellent shoes, the Sylan is a fantastic addition to the lineup. They're especially nice if you're going to be trying to hit steep downhills at speed. This is where they shine, if you don't have long downhill trail sections, the LD3 is all you'll ever need for trail running, but if you do have that kind of terrain on your plate, the Sylan is the right choice

Best Arc’teryx trail running shoe yet

Highly recommend for two reasons: (1) The rocker geometry is stable yet effective, including on steep technical terrain; and (2) the midsole is superb, not too hard or too soft. Best Arc’teryx trail-running trainer yet and light enough for longer races.

Great Mountain Running Shoe!

I got these shoes a few weeks ago and I am really hyped on the design and how good they feel. I was recommended to go a half size smaller as they run a little big. Instead of an 11 I got a 10.5 and that worked well for me. As soon as you put them on they mold over the top of your foot and feel very comfortable. I didnt really have to wait to break them in. They just felt ready to go from the very first run. I've ran on the road and in the mountains and they perform well on both. The grip underneath was just right. My favorite part is the tongue pocket for your shoe laces. In the past I would triple knot my sneakers for running just so I don't have to worry about them. With the tongue pocket I still do a double knot but im so happy I don't have to waste energy wondering if the laces will stay tied.

The most unique trail running shoe I’ve used! Great rocker that moves you forward well. Best of class traction with the vibram litebase. I found the upper to be comfy and accommodating. The ride can be a bit stiff, but the rocker moves you forward quickly.

Great addition to the Arc running line

I've really enjoyed the new Sylan. They are phenomenal on the uphill. The rocker makes uphill running feel effortless. Because of the rocker, the lateral stability is not as great as the LD3, but it's a sacrifice I've come to expect with this style of running shoe. The Matryx upper is super light and breathable and the outsole and tread are crazy grippy.

Light and grippy

Great shoe and nice addition to the trail running shoes line-up. The shoe fits well and is true to size, it is light and the breathable upper drains well when wet, super grippy outer sole with good traction on muddy terrain. The sock construction may not give as much stability and ankle support compared to the Norvan LD3, the rocker bottom and mid sole cushion works well on long runs.

Stylish Yet Disappointing

The shoes have a very cool appearance with attractive colors and a thick sole, which initially caught my eye. Despite the high price tag, I decided to order them hoping for great quality. However, upon receiving them today, I was disappointed and decided to return them immediately. Despite being brand new out of the box, they already showed signs of wrinkling on the sides. Moreover, they felt very unstable and uncomfortable when worn, making them unsuitable for everyday use or long periods of walking. Overall, while the design is appealing, the quality and comfort did not meet my expectations, especially considering the high price.

Sylan Pro Shoe Men's

Athlete-inspired and built for speed, this is the shoe for mountain runners looking to move faster on technical trails. The midsole’s rocker geometry drives propulsion and is made from InFuse, a light, highly responsive EVA and Polyolefin composition that provides rebound and absorbs shock. The grippy Vibram Megagrip outsole uses LITEBASE technology to shed weight without sacrificing performance, and aggressive lugs deliver a confident bite. The fit locks tight, and a knit collar seals out debris.
