Great, but sizing changed

One of my favorite pieces ever. I have one that is 2-3 years old and quite smelly after 100s of days of guiding. Got the new one and still seems to function and feel the same, but the sizing is disappointing. My old one is a large and fits perfectly, but this new 2025 version the large is too large and the medium is more snug.

Awesome jacket

Great jacket, I use it as a mid layer while skiing and just an everyday jacket. Do beware if you are a bigger guy or on the muscular side, it is a little snugger then say the Atom or normal proton, only notice a difference on my shoulders. No matter what I put it through it works awesome at regulating temps. It does run a little warm if you do give off a lot of heat so beware of that but it hasn’t been a huge issue for me.

Versatile Hoody!

I use this hoody during the winter and the summer months. It's a great base layer during the winter as its breathable material help regulate my temperature. The zipper pocket on the chest is one of my favorite features, making it easy to grab items on the go. It packs well when storing it in the pack and I absolutely love the elastic cuffs on the wrists! It's extremely comfortable as well.

Perfect jacket

Just bought last week. A lightweight, soft, hooded jacket that is great quality and easy to pack. Took this on a recent hike and camp. Does the job. Honestly can’t think of a situation I couldn’t wear this in. Considering getting another in a different colour.

Nice jacket

Have had this jacket for 5-6 yrs and am very happy with its quality and performance. I use it primarily for day hikes in cool to cold weather and have used it couple hundred times. I’m 5’11” 175 and medium fits me well. Fitted but not tight. With temperatures in the 35-45 range I find myself wishing I had more insulation but after a few minutes exertion I’m comfortable. The exterior is quite durable and sheds dirt well.
I’ve been wearing Arcteryx since 1999-2000 and have my share of their stuff but this and the kyanite hoody get the most use. I also love my Proton LT but generally to warm for it most of the year in Georgia.

Bought this jacket a couple of weeks ago. Super comfy and warn. Wearing it practically everyday. Perfect to use as a light jacket in the spring, summer and autumn, and as a mid layer in the winter. The jacket is not considered as a waterproof jacket (like a shell), however I was caught up in some light rain without an umbrella I was surprised to see that there is one water resistance (I didn't get home drenched).

I have had the jacket for a little over a week now, and I absolutely love it! Super light weight and extremely comfortable.
Online ordering and customer service are among the worst in the outdoor gear industry. Terrible use interface and absolutely no meaningful support when you call, write or chat. If it were not for the quality of product, I would never purchase anything online from Arcteryx.

Super softshell for all but high winds

A little about me – 1.75m (5ft 9in) tall and weigh 73kg (161lb). My chest measures 108cm (42.5in) and waist 84cm (33in) with an athletic build normally a size medium in Arc’.
I bought the Proton (FL) in medium and it is an excellent fit - allowing a Rho Heavyweight as a mid-layer beneath when needed in winter - or can be worn alone with a baselayer beneath.
The wicking of this jacket is amazing and paired with the permeability of the Fortius Air fabric - it really manages different activity levels well in cooler conditions!
And although you have that permeability - the jacket really performs well in all but the stronger winds!

Favorite jacket

I bought this jacket a year ago to replace another brands similar light weight synthetic light “puffy.” Unlike those other light jackets that look like a light puffy with quilted thin nylon over insulation, the Protons outer fabric is much more stylish for around town and the office. Out in the field that same fabric is water resistant and the insulation is warm enough that on a warmer day of ice climbing this jacket often becomes my outer layer in place of a soft or hard shell. It allows me to climb relatively light and then pop on a belay jacket between pitches. I love the hand warmer pockets and the large chest pocket. The hood easily fits over a helmet and, most importantly, stays put in the wind! My favorite feature is the wrist cuffs. They are ergonomically shaped and have just the right amount of stretch to be comfy but keep the weather out. Finally at 6’4” I find it hard to get jackets with enough arm length. The Proton fits great in an XL- trim to my relatively lean physique and plenty of length in the arms even when they are above the head swing tools or finding handholds.

I wear this jacket at work often because it can be rainy outside and chilly in the office. I like the lightness of it and the stretchy cuffs are comfortable when Iʻm working, driving, or walking outside. The material is not noisy and the inside is soft, although the mesh has a gym wear look to it. Ideal for wearing over a t-shirt.

Proton Lightweight is my go-to backcountry skiing for it's warmth in arms and hood, but breathable, lightweight and packable at the same time. It's also the jacket I normally use for winter-trailrunning for the same reasons. It's definitely a must-have one!

J'ai acheté la Proton LT pour les face nord en escalade en été et au final je l'utilise quasiment toute l'année. Le polartec Alpha est super agréable et respire bien! Pour moi c'est la veste à utiliser en escalade dés que le vent se lève ou qu'il fait frais. Je l'utilise aussi beaucoup en ski de rando quand les températures sont supérieurs à 0-5 degrés. Si il ne faudrait en avoir q'une pour des sorties actives en montagne se serait celle ci!

Great gift for dad!

We bought this for my dad’s birthday because he always wanted an Arc’teryx jacket. It was light and practical enough for Vancouver’s climate and the quality felt great. Online customer service was helpful too. The charcoal was a really nice colour. He’s 6” and a bigger fellow; the sleeves on the XL was just a little long on him.

I bought this jacket about 4 months ago and it’s been such a nice jacket to own. I like how lightweight it is while also being cozy. It’s kept warm through some cold nights. I do like that though it’s not packable, I am able to fold it and put it in my side bag with ease to travel with.

Great piece!

I had the an older version in a medium size but needed to upsize due to to gaining some weight. I'm 5 feet 7 inches 190lbs and the large fits well and isn't too long, which was surprising given my smaller stature. The only issue I had was the new sleeve cuffs are a lot looser than the older version, which was tight but did the job of keeping the heat in.

Awesome lightweight jacket

I love this jacket as it’s a perfect fitted mid layer for my beta/ski jacket, or as a stand-alone when it’s a little chilly around the house or when going outdoors. My new go-to jacket for chilly weather. The octaloft is so comfortable on the skin.

Die Bewertung bezieht sich noch auf den Vorgänger Proton FL
Ich trage die Jacke beim Wandern mit einem T Shirt bei Temperaturen zwischen 12°C und 20°C und hatte Sie auch schon bei 5°C mit einem 200er Langarm Merino Shirt an was auch ok war solange wenig Wind wehte. Irgendwann atmet Sie dann zu gut und es wird kalt aber da kann man dann einfach einen Windbreaker überziehen und es darf noch paar Grad kälter werden. Ich bin aber auch jemand dem eher zu kalt als zu warm ist.
Die Jacke ist auf jeden Fall sehr atmungsaktiv , angenehm auf der Haut durch das Ocatloft und in Schwarz noch so schlicht dass Sie super im Alltag zu tragen ist.
Gerade wenn man Auto fährt , einkaufen geht und immer wechselnde Temperaturen hat, kann man die Jacke immer anbehalten da diese nie zu warm ist.
Ich würde mir die Jacke jederzeit wieder kaufen.

Functional Climbing Garment

I've been super impressed by the comfort and performance of the Proton Lightweight Hoody. Taken it climbing on multiple occasions and have been really satisfied with how it moves and stretches under a harness. Similarly, it breathes well once you start moving on the wall or on the approach. Hood fits over a helmet as well. The inner fleece lining is incredibly comfortable and feels great. Warm when you need it and breathes when you want it. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good climbing garment to keep you comfortable while climbing at the Creek in the fall or Yosemite in the spring. It's held up surprisingly well through the past year.
I'm 5'8" 140lbs and elected for a medium where as I wear a small in the Atom. Felt like a medium was more comfortable for climbing related pursuits.
