Délamination du gore tex...

J'ai acheté ma première Beta AR 06/04/2016, j'ai tout suite adoré la coupe et les finitions de la veste .
Je l'utilisais presque tous les jours à vélo et intensément, en randonnée , excursion , voyage...
J'ai pris des pluies diluviennes sans que l'eau ne passe , hyper isolante du vent, assez respirante les ouvertures sous les aisselles hyper utiles lors d'activités intenses ... Le tissu extérieur hyper solide contre l'abrasion bien protectrice.
Mais au bout d'un certain temps le laminé gore tex a commencé à se décoller (en moins de deux ans), j'ai alors contacté le service client et , après quelques échanges et un peu moins de 3 mois , Arc'teryx me proposait d'avoir une nouvelle BETA AR toute neuve!!
J'étais super content et pensais avoir eu de la malchance avec la première veste qui , il est vrai je n'avais pas lavé très souvent avec le produit adapté.
Ma deuxième Beta AR reçu en 2018 a été entretenue avec le plus grand soin , lavée au Nikwax selon les recommandations de gore tex ou Arcteryx , le dwr réappliqué...
A nouveau le gore tex s'est décollé rapidement rendant l'imperméabilité inefficace...
Au prix de la veste j'aurais espéré une durée de vie plus longue , je pensais avoir acheté une veste hyper solide pour une utilisation intensive mais ça n'est pas le cas le gore tex se décolle tôt ou tard... Je pense que le problème vient davantage du tissu gore-tex que de la fabrication d'Arc'teryx .
Peut être le nouveau gore-tex utilisé est plus solide et moins sujet à la délamination ? Quoi qu'il en soit je suis déçu et je ne sais pas si je prendrai le risque de réinvestir dans une nouvelle Beta AR ...

Very solid jacket!

I bought this several months ago and use it for both a rain jacket and backcountry snowboarding jacket. It works very well for both! Pit zips are great and the hood articulate very well. It does not have a powder skirt but has not been a problem.

Great fit, disappointing durability

I was real Arcterix fen for many years and I have bought several products – Venta AR (great jacket, used for more than 10 years), Alpha SL, t-shirts, caps, accessories and more. This is my second Beta AR jacket for the last 7 years and probably the last, because the quality literally decay. The first one was too large for me /size L/ and I sold it after 2 years, still looking like brand new. The second one is the right size (M), it also looked very quality made. I have used it several years for skiing and hiking, relatively rarely (one or two times in a month, in the late autumn and the winter). Great fit. I love it and I have used and kept it very carefully, washing it not more often than once a year, according the instruction. It looked like brand new till the last week, when I washed it as usual – machine wash, the jacket only, into a big laundry bag, closed zippers, delicate cycle, 30 degree and using Grangers for Gore membranes. But, afterwards the entire adhesive tape at the bottom of the jacked have been fully unglued and torn. Really disappointed with the durability of an expensive jacket, manufactured by Arcterix.

Goretex products should be washed with warm water and dried on medium heat, frequently in order to prevent delamination. Washing it with cold water less than once a year is the reason your jacket failed.

Seams Fail

I really loved this jacket until what seems to be the compound that attaches the seam to the zipper started to separate (as you can see in the photos). From reading other reviews this seems to be a known quality problem. I haven’t used this jacket enough nor have I had it long enough for it to have this type of issue. I have reached out to customer support (they gave a response time for my Product Service Request is 5 to 7 weeks). Until I ran into this issue the jacket had worked well as a light easy to layer shell.

This is a follow up to my review. I’ve made it through the warranty process and customer support was able to resolve this issue. It took a couple of months, but aside from waiting it was an easy experience. I would raise my star rating based on this (and up until the seam and fabric failing I didn’t have any issues).

J'ai acheté ce produit l'an passé et je suis très satisfais mais je crois que l'on pourrait amélioré ce produit ex - la poche interne du Beta AR EST TROP PETITE ET UN PEU HAUTE ,aussi il manque à mon avis une poche sur la manche gauche ,pour mettre ex .. clé de cadenas de ski .clé d'auto ,protecteur pour les lèvres .

Broken almost without use

I have many products from this brand, many are coming out good but in the case of this jacket a disaster.
It has little use since I only use it on a few occasions and only to take the dogs for a walk when it rains.
As you can see in the photos and in the video it has everything broken and without signs of wear, the seams came off.
I do not understand how a jacket that is designed for climbing and heavy wear sports can suffer these tears.
I have other brands and they all last me more than 10 years and without breaks or strange things but this one is not only 3 years old and is detached.
It is not the first time that it happens with a product of this brand, also in another something similar happened to me.

Faulty Pocket Zip Within 2 Years

I purchased a Beta AR jacket on 23/09/2018. After less than 2 years use the zip failed and now the pocket fills with water. I returned the jacket to Ellis Brigham who assured me the jacket was returned under warranty and that I should receive a favourable outcome. After waiting almost 3 months I have now been told the jacket will not be replaced or repaired! Avoid Arc'teryx products, you are paying a premium for sub-standard equipment that doesn't last. They prefer to send ambassador's around the globe on jolly's instead of looking their loyal customer's, disgraceful behaviour.

Great Performace, Tough to keep clean looking

So, I purchased my Beta AR a month ago. it got its first use on a raining morning on the trail. performance was excellent with no water penetration in moderate to heavy rain for about 4 hours. My one gripe is that the jacket got dirt marks along some creases where my pack's wait strap was cinched down. I washed it immediately after getting home (per the instructions with the Nu Care detergent), and these dirt marks didnt come out. I did get the Glade color, so I understand that dirt will be easier to see. Still, I'm disappointed that my first noderate use already has these lifetime stains.

Two of these models in my family had to be sent back for repairs within 3 years of purchase. Speaking with customer service, I was advised the jacket should be washed after every 12 to 14 times it's worn. WHAT?? Now there's a strong selling point.

We're sorry to hear about the durability issues you have experienced with your past iterations of the Beta AR. Properly washing and drying your Gore-Tex items semi-frequently is important for two reasons: it will keep the Gore-Tex and the components of the jacket free of debris, oils, and dirt that can build up over time and will also help keep adhesives bonded through the drying process.
Due to the minimal nature of our adhesives and seam tapes we use to achieve an incredibly lightweight yet durable item, we recommend regular washing so that your Gore-Tex jacket will achieve its maximal practical product lifetime.

Weight vs durability/longevity of the jacket. My Theta is on the way to you as we speak, this is the third jackets with the delamination issues, perhaps it is time to look at other ways to keep jacket together, I don't see how anyone would mind a few extra grams but more reliable jacket.

Great jacket - but not great for me

I bought this jacket a year ago for a long stomp around Europe (I intended to get the Zeta AR but came out the store with this instead)
I was out for a whole winter in this, one week in the worst rainfall I've ever been caught in and I was comfortable, if not pleased, to be out hiking in that. Also came back without a scratch or a stain despite the rough treatment it was given. So when it really counts, this jacket aces it!
But on the day-to-day or to take with you just-in-case it's a nuisance. The hood is just irritating, the fabric is noisy and the fit is awful if you aren't properly layered. I ended up buying another 3L in a similar style to the Zeta which is my go-to while this has stayed in a wardrobe undisturbed for several months until conditions made it worth breaking out again recently.
The jacket is undoubtably a worthwhile investment for serious outdoor types with frequent cause to be layering up, wearing helmets and getting the use out of the jacket it is marketed for. If, like me, you are mainly out and about in mild but wet conditions and not climbing on anything more challenging than the back of a horse, I'd say Arc'teryx have better products for you to splurge on.
The three stars reflect the cast-iron five stars it deserves for the four months of the year I've got out of it.

Great jacket with one major flaw (for me at least)

Ok, just to be clear beforehand: this jacket should have had five stars, was it not for one major flaw that makes it unusable for me. I first bought the medium-sized jacket and although it fits great, the pit zips push into my armpit. This is even without layering. So, I bought another one in large with the pro-shell fabric. The pro-shell is a welcome upgrade but I still got the pit zip problem. However, an improvement on the medium-sized jacket, the pit zips are still annoying and the fit is now on the large side. I would describe my body type as athletic, but not even close to being a bodybuilder. So, I am quite surprised, that I don't read more reviews about this. Assuming that most users of Arcteryx are at least sporty. So Arcteryx, is there another jacket in your line up - with a slightly more accommodating cut - that is a better fit for me? For example the Alpha series. I know you have options without the pit zips but I still prefer them to dump excessive heat. To buy another beta jacket, for me, the sleeves or the pit zips need a design update.

I have the same issue with the pit zips, which push into my armpit... so annoying and uncomfortable ! Would not recommend for that reason.

I bought this shell last winter for ski touring and to bring it to all of my summer treks. I loved it touring. I loved it hiking. I loved it skiing inbounds. I litterally carried it through all of my hikes this summer as a bullet proof protection in case a storm caught up with us. Other than that, it fits nice and looks great!

I bought this AR as a replacement for a Beta LT from 2018 that sadly delaminated. I waited specifically for this years goretex pro most rugged because it’s supposed to be less prone to delamination. So far I really like the jacket. It’s fits a little bigger than my LT which is nice because I better accommodates for my winter layers. So far I prefer the drophood over the stormhood design because it keeps my neck out of the wind. I hope this one will last me many years!

Beta AR - True All Around

I bought this jacket about a month ago, unsure if I would be using it the mild fall temperatures in Canada, however I have found use for it almost daily since. It is fully water/wind proof so it immediately takes care of those elements. Only trick is finding something to layer underneath. I run warm and am good with just a thin sweater underneath in 0-10 degree weather. I am an athletic 5'9' build and the small fits great. It is likely to be too small if I use puffier base layers (down). I got the Caribou color and am super pleased with it. The hood is not attached to the main portion of the jacket which is the reason I bought this jacket. I really hate the tugging feeling if you aren't wearing the hood so I opted for this option, with this separate and it does exactly that; very very pleased with this item.

Bought as a replacement for a previous version of the Beta AR that lasted 18 years of four season, multi-sport (skiing, hiking, around town) hard use (2 minor fixes by Arc Teryx during it’s lifetime until the zippers de-laminated). The new Beta AR has updated zippers, nicer Gore-Tex and a larger hood. I expect another 18 years out of this one.

Perfect jacket for worldwide conditions

I've taken this jacket out in a wide variety of conditions
- tropical storms in Mexico
- misty hikes in the Pacific Northwest
- downpours in the Mid Atlantic US
It's fantastic as a wet weather barrier, extremely packable, and the one jacket I trust to keep me dry when I need it to.
Fits well, accommodates a Phase AR + Atom LT for easy layering/warmth. Rolls into its hood and stuffs into a crossbody hipsack for unpredictable weather days. Great jacket to bring with you no matter where you go.

Just bought this after months of research...Have owned Columbia and North face jackets to name a few...Also compared to other skiing and winter jackets, but I am looking for a product that is long lasting and can do what I need it to do...Looks like I made the right choice so far.

Excellent All Around Shell

This was my second major purchase frlm Arcteryx, the first being the Atom AR Jacket.
Both jackets were size ‘S’ (5’7”; 157lbs; 38”chest; 31waist) and i was hoping that my BetaAR would fit overtop of the Atom...fit beautifully with the hood up...a little cumbersome with the hood off but doable.
so far ive used this in the Western Pa weather, late summer and Autumn, and this jacket kept me warm during a complete downpour with 25-35mph gust. Felt invincible.
While there are other jackets in the lineup that may be superior, this was the best fit all around for camping, hiking, and outdoor work. Additionally the fit overtop of my revised ATOM AR, was a success. Spend the money and be happy.

Great jacket! Held up great in 3 days of rain!

Just bought this jacket and used in on a hiking trip near jasper BC. It rained for 3 days straight and this jacket kept me fairly dry, which considering the conditions, is awesome. My only complaint was that the hood felt a bit uncomfortable, I just couldn’t quite since the straps in a fashion that I was happy with

J’ai cet article depuis déjà 3ans. Il est super et peu être porté dans plusieurs situation.
-seul en été par un te la venteux et pluvieux
-printemps automne avec un chandail en dessus.
- hiver avec une couche intermédiaire de duvet
(Étant Donner sa grande polyvalence je l’utilise même comme “Shell” jusqu’à des temperature de -20,-25C Pour le ski alpin )
Un produit dont je me passerai plus.
