I went straight out and covered a 20km on a fast mountain hike with variable terrain while carrying full gear, tent, stove etc, for a night camp. I had no issues at all. So comfortable and the grip is really reliable. I’m so pleased I’m going to order a pair with GTX.

Top tier shoes.

Definitely my favorite running/ training/ outdoorsy/ hybrid shoe of all time.It’s light and very durable, and the look and design is immaculate. So many clunky and ugly shoes out there, this one is minimalist but functional and sleek. Love the feel, hugs my foot and ankle like a glove. Great volume and height. Good for tracks, road, and of course rugged terrain runs. I keep them clean and cross train with them for HIIT/ S&C workouts and they can handle the pivots and energy transfer. Love the Vibram sole, I have hiking boots that are 6+ years old with hundreds of miles and the Vibram soles ares still solid. Smart move. Would love to get a gore-tex version as well.

Superior traction and very comfortable

This is a really good shoe - ive put 35 miles and about 7k of gain on desert trails with a mix of cruisy singletrack and more technical rock/slick rock and they have incredible grip and are quite comfortable.
The rocker feels a bit strange just walking in them at first but when running i dont notice the rocker at all. The lugs bite and stick where you want them and the upper seems like itll be bomb proof.
As for sizing it seemed true to size for me. I wear a size 9 in every brand i own and size 9 fits very well in the Sylan Pros.

Upsetting for $200

~25 miles in. This is a product that needs improvement and further testing. Sole, upper, midsole all great. But absolutely pathetic ankle stability. For $200 these shoes should perform a hell of a lot better than $150 hokas or la Sportiva. Fit is very fidgety and difficult to figure out. Would not recommend for anyone unless they run on flat trails. Not as technical as advertised, arcteryx is close to losing my business for their poor recent product performance and quality.

This is one of my favorite pairs of shoes I've ever owned. They're super comfortable and very attractive. My only criticism is that the band around the ankle makes them a bit harder to put on than most other shoes I've owned. Other than that, they're great.

Mainly using this shoe for everyday activities.
It is very well made and extremely comfortable. I usually wear an 11.5 med, however, I found the half size smaller was a better fit. Really like the detailing, especially the collar around the ankle to prevent dirt and other debris from entering the shoe. I’m not a runner but I can see how this could be a very good trail running shoe. It’s very supportive and the sole has great compression from heel to toe. Originally saw this shoe on the website, took a trip to my local Arcteryx store, tried them on and took them home

From skeptical to WOW

Coming from the Norvan LD3's, I initially did a hard pass when the Sylans were first introduced, because in store they did feel weird and unstable. Fast forward a few months and I decided to go for a pair of Sylan Pro's after reading and watching a few reviews. Im tall and not the lightest runner, and do NOT have the best ankles, but have been trail running with some racing for the past 20 years, and my first run with the SP's was in Squamish BC on very technical trails. All I have to say is WOW! I did find the first few KM's I needed to get used to the rocker and narrow heel, but that was it. After that, I found the Sylan Pro's to be awesome technical trail runners - especially in the current wet and frosty conditions. Hugged the foot and just the right amount of forefoot room that my feet felt relaxed. Outsole gripped to everything, I felt nimble, no heal slippage whatsoever, and I found the rocker super encouraging. I have had a least 10 trail runs on the north shore of Vancouver since then, and they just keep getting better. I did go a half size down from my Norval LD3's to a size 11.5. 11 was too small (toes pressing the end of the shoe).

One of the best shoes i've ever worn. Aggressive and forgiving.
My first run in this shoe was a 250km segment during a 500km effort through the Mojave Desert. It was near impossible for me to roll my ankle in the Sylan, lots of protection.
Aggressive rocker makes bombing downhills very fun and I feel in control.
Currently have 750km on my first pair and they still have some life in them

Upon arrival, checked them. The pair was flawless. Then came two days of testing around home. This allowed for a thorough study and feel of limitations, and things to watch for, per several reviews. I secured the lacing of the bottom one third. After desired adjustment, then played with and kept the top two thirds of laces to tighten prior to each Hike. Done. On my first short training Hike, these Sylan Pro proved to be the best Hiking shoes I ever had. The next test will be in demanding Trails, followed by creek crossings, etc. I intend to rotate them with a pair of La Sportiva Ultra Raptors (550 miles), Hoka Goatspeed 5 (500 miles), plus two pairs of Italian Scarpa boots (over 400 mi each), etc... This is a great shoe for what I'm using it for. Has great cushioning and grip with great ventilation to keep my feet dry from sweat when running along any trails or mountain passes. Also love the hugging cuff around the ankle area which is a definite must to keep out small rocks and debris.

I've being using them since March '24, so around 6 months now for up to 10 hours daily hikes. Being to Squamish, Whistler, Dolomites, Scotland and French Alps with them. They are light, comfy and I found the grip extremely good even in wet rocks. They also dry fairly quickly. Very happy and I do prefer them compared to NorVan and they have a better grip.

Ankle Annihilation in the wrong terrain

Nice shoe, great for non-technical terrain. If you find yourself running with scree, large loose rocks, roots etc, then beware, the lever arm you've created with this shoe will absolutely roll your ankle into oblivion. I, and all 5 people I know who own these shoes are very experienced runners and all of us have exploded their ankles in them. Super techy trail? Stick with the ld3, hard pack or alpine rock, these are a lovely choice.

Fast and comfortable

My first pair of Sylan Pros have just about reached their end of life after 750 km, about 150 kmk of which were in harsh, Rockies screen and talus. Overall very impressed with the durability of the shoe. Certainly not as suitable for highly technical trails or scrambling, yet they were still my choice for a few recent fast efforts with sections of climbing up to 5.6 and plenty of steep boulder hopping. The rocker took some getting used to, but after the third run they just wanted to go fast and are perfectly suited to racing and flowy trails.

Utilisation en sortie trail mais également en balade, cette paire de chaussure fait parfaitement le job. Un superbe design, une couleur que j'adore ( Solaris) et un amorti incomparable. J'aime beaucoup la forme de la semelle VIBRAM incurvée qui procure un rebond en course.

Sylan Pro- The go to race shoe!

I have about 300 trail miles on my Sylan pros. The are responsive, agile and the Vibram sole is great. Took about 20-30 miles to get used to the rockiness but now I rip the trails in them.

Great shoes!

Sylan has a lot more rocker compared to other shoes I’ve tried in the past. It definitely took some time to get used to this. I’ll have to be very deliberate about my foot placement during steeper downhill sections. Other than that, I enjoy the sock liner and the great traction from the Vibram outsole.

Ultra-trail ready

I have been training for several months with the Sylan Pro and just did a very technical 110km 7000d+ uktra-trail in Corsica. The shoes performed very well, very grippy on the rocks and all kind of terrain. They were comfortable enough for 34 hours of effort (I changed shoes in the middle, the same Sylan, the have dry ones).

Great shoe, runs well

I purchased the Sylan Pro and put several 100 mile on them so far.
They are comfortable and provide lots of toe space. They are a bit high of the ground when in steep tricky terrain. But the main reason I only give them a 4 star rating is the way the sole is constructed. The sole tread stops short of the foam edge and creates a really slippery tread less zone if you are scrambling for footing on side hills or scree slopes where you cant plant the foot flat on the ground.
I hope on future models the tread runs all the way out to create a clean edge. Then it probably deserves a 5 star rating.

The absolute best trail/mountain running shoe

These are the BEST trail/mountain running shoe I have ever used! I purchased these as an upgrade to my Norvan LD3's which do not provide enough traction for mountain terrain. The Sylan Pro is exactly what I needed.
The heavy rocker feels a little bit odd the first time you lace them up but have no fear, once you start moving you will not want to stop.
I cannot give high enough praise for these shoes. I am very excited to see that they come up with for next years model.
