My one and only!

There have been a few imposters enter my back country and resort sojourns over the years but none have held up and been put back into service year after year. I’ve had my Rush for at least 5 years now and it’s still, well, perfect. I’ve bounced off trees, snagged many branches and stuffed it into my pack over and over. A tech wash every once and a while and it looks like new. Sadly this means I have a struggle when it comes to buying a new one. As I type this we are on the cusp of another season and for me another one in my Rush Blue on Blue stalwart.
Q: Pros:
A: Breathable, waterproof, bomb proof.

A: New colours need some vibrance.

Perfect Ski Jacket!

I purchased the Rush last fall for ski trips in northern Michigan & the jacket performed better than I could have expected. While night skiing in subzero temperatures, the full zip front created furnace like warmth while sealing out the elements. The large pit zip release a substantial amount of heat on mild days. The Rush with gore-tex pro is more than capable of handling whatever mother nature will throw at you. I have always been a big fan of Arcteryx products, however, the Rush makes me want to purchase close to every article they design for each season….the Rush allowed me to stay on the snow, while others headed to the fireplace!!!

Bombproof! The Only Ski Shell You’ll Ever Need!

This is the first Arcteryx piece I ever got, and it made me a believer! Great fit, great features, and tough. It takes a long time to wet out in spring conditions, it sheds snow and water well, and I’ve never gotten wet on the inside. I’ve since gotten another Dead Bird shell, just to add to the collection for different conditions, but this one is still my “go to” piece. I love it so much, I’ve gotten one for both my wife and son.
Q: Pros:
A: Hard-wearing, waterproof, great fit
Q: Cons:
A: Crinkly in cold, expensive

Baggy

Compared to a Beta AR, this feels way more baggy. I do like the longer length for skiing. Used it for 3 seasons, very durable. The powder skirt works well when I fall (and I guess the icy New England conditions are a good test of durability) LOL

Excellent overall but zippers unglue

I bought this jackets several years ago (15?) and was perfect for skiing. Unfortunately, zippers started ungluing from the shell lately (all of them now) and this made the jacket unusable. Is this something that customers should expect after extended use? Has the zipper gluing/soldering process changed in the new models? I guess that this cannot be fixed and that I will have to purchase a new jacket (I would get another Rush)

A: protection

15 years as a hell of a long time, that's long enough for quality stitching to start to fail even, I would say it's to be expected, especially if you're using it hard for skiing or snowboarding.

Poor Quality

I purchased this jacket in Dec 2022. I wore it less than 10 days and one of the teeth of the zipper broke off. I get that things happen or that you can't predict if anything will fail. But to hav that happen so soon after purchase is deplorable. My last jacket lasted more than a decade of very hard use. I only replace my zipper once in its life time. The zipper failed recently, that is the reason for the new purchase. I tried to find th jacket with the LEAST bad reviews and crossed my fingers I choose correctly. There were soooooo many bad reviews across all Arcteryx's line of shells. Very scary when someone is willing to drop $900 on a jacket shell. Ultimately Customer service helped resolve my issue. So I am grateful for that and their quickness resolving it. I'm on their site again to purchase the same jacket again.... fingers crossed. Not sure it's dumb or not, but they already have my money.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I ski 40-50 days a year and after 6 years with a sabre I finally decided to get a new shell. I went for the rush because I fell in love the colour and design. It fits well, is breathable and I know from experience that it’s waterproof. Overall a great shell.

Jacket of choice

I've spent everyday in my rush jacket this season from snowmobiling, to touring, to resort riding and this jacket has held up so well against abrasion and wear. Fit I would say is a tad tall, I have an XL and do cinch and fold on the bottom to get the fit im looking for.

Very good:but cut and pockets could be much better

Amazing quality shell jacket and construction as ever. Just wish the cut was better (arms too long, body slightly too long). Also the pockets could be much better: pocket on wrist for ski pass - upper arm makes it hard to get through lots of machines without having to lean down. Chest pocket on the outside thats large enough for a large phone - one on either side ideally. The pockets on this one are blocked when i wear a backpack so cant use. The inside pockets are useless. I really need 2 larger pockets with zips so i can safely put my max size phone and other items away safely). With these changes this would be the perfect jacket for me.

A: snowboarding

Jacket works well but pocket design is weird

Haven't had a chance to use it for skiing yet, but it seems to be completely bomb-proof as usual from Arcteryx, loads of pockets, very well made, and a good fit, although definitely fits slightly larger than usual, but not a problem as perfect for layering.

Best snowboard/ski touring jacket I've owned!

Got the Rush jacket in Oracle/Daze and it has been the best snowboard and best mountain activity jacket I have ever owned. The gortex-pro shell keeps me completely protected from harsh elements, but it is also the lightest jacket I have ever seen. I have found it to be incredibly breathable for split-boarding assents where I am working hard and still need protection from snow and wind. The hood is great and fits perfectly over my helmet and the amount of pockets is optimal as well. The oracle/daze jacket is such a wild colour as well, and my friends never lose sight of me on the hills and in the backcountry.
Q: Pros:
A: Gortex-pro, breathable, lightweight
Q: Activity

What does "years ago" mean; 3 or 10+ years; it's not the same, this comment can be very misleading. If you ask me, looks more like 10+. If it's less than 100 days of use during 10 years then there is a quality problem. Otherwise I don't think that there is a problem as it's "plastic", with time it becomes fragile even without using it...+ we don't know how and where do you store your jacket.

Excellent quality, impractical pockets

Bought it year ago as an universal resort skiing, ski touring and snowkiting jacket. Used extensively for 50-60 days. The overall quality is great - solid materials, well finished, protects from the wind and rain - all perfect in this matter. The main problem of this model is a very exotic pockets configuration. The two outer front pockets are practically unusable when the backpack belt is locked or you wear (snowkite) harness. It would be forgivable if there is a chest pocket - but there isn't. The inner mesh pockets are too small for a serious gloves - gloves fall out when you bend over. Internal chest pocket is too small to accommodate modern mobile phone, and placed too low - causing harness crushing issues. Hopefully the company will improve it in the future. Basically making a solid GTX Procline clone, with enlarged pockets would do the trick. For Rush - avoid when you are looking for a serious equipment, targeting sports I have mentioned here.
Q: Pros:
A: quality, durability, long sleeves
Q: Cons:
A: impractical pockets
Q: Activity
A: skiing, ski touring, snowkiting, backcountry skiing

No, I do not recommend this product.

Excellent, but not perfect

Overall solid construction and everything you expect from an Arcteryx piece. Though I don't understand why did you decided to remove the chest pockets? I am really frustrated not having chests pockets like the previous versions of this jacket. Next time I would consider a jacket with better functionality.

Perfect in the rain.

I have had the jacket for a couple of weeks now, working great, especially in the rain, keeping me very dry, I have the Thorium jacket as well that I use under the Rush jacket that keeps me very warm. Great quality, thanks.

Not my favorite

I love a lot of Arcteryx products but can't get excited about this jacket. I use it mostly for backcountry skiing. My biggest complaint is the fabric is so stiff. It doesn't move well, is not very comfortable and packs poorly into a backpack. I also wish the powder skirt was removable. I don't like the giant 2 zip pocket design. whatever you put in tends to bounce around. I just keep going back to my older jacket from another brand.

Fabric is stiff and not very packable as it's Gore Tex PRO...very solid but yes, it makes noice and it's a "stiff" fabric.
