Great fit and preference, not that durable

Very comfortable and nice amount of cushion. However, I took on a 2 week trip to Vietnam for walking, hiking and trail running and the foam bottoms got pretty trashed on lime stone rock. It would be better if the foam lower part of the shoe had a protective layer so you don’t rip foam chunks out on abrasive rock. Great fit for average to narrow feet, light weight for travel, not durable enough for the price tag, I doubt they will last me more then 6 months.

Comfy right out of the box

These have great traction on trails (+ snow here in Chicago!) - no break-in required. The Luminary/Verve colorway has gotten a lot of compliments as well and is so fun for Spring. Runs a 1/2 size big!

I've thoroughly worn these shoes in and have loved running in them on the trails! They are incredibly comfortable, durable, and sturdy and work great on all kinds of terrain! One of my new favorite pairs of shoes!

Way too narrow!!

The shoes look great but the toe box is way too narrow! Whoever wrote it fits wide feet doesn't have wide feet. I don't even consider myself having really wide feet and my toes completely spill on the side of the toe box (I have a small bunion but narrow ankles). Compared to the Norvan LD3 (which fits me) they're much, much narrower. It's unfortunate because the style is amazing and the shoe geometry and stiffness is exactly what I'm looking for. Argh! Even the men's version is just as narrow. Also, the sizing is a bit off - I'm usually a women's size 9.5 and mostly 10 in running shoes but the size 9 was plenty long enough for me. If it was wide enough I would have got the size 9. Hope it helps!

In love with my shoes!

I'm in love with my Norvan LD 4. The toe box is wider and more comfortable than other Arc'teryx shoes, and I really appreciate that. They are also comfortable, lightweight, stable, and breathable. The color options are great too!

"Out of the box" comfy!

I was really pleased with these! I haven't tried Arcteryx shoes before and was really happy. I have wide feet at my toe joints, but a slim heel and these were 'out of the box' comfy for me! I've usually spent months breaking in any trail runners, and I ran 3 times in them before a 10Km race and they were fantastic! Light weight, breathable, a great amount of 'bounce-back' in them! Highly recommend.
I followed the guidance of sizing down half a size, despite my wide feet, I followed this and i'm really glad I did as they were a perfect fit.

Great all round shoe

I'm going to preface this by saying I am not a major runner, I go for light runs on my city's maintained trails so these are probably far more shoe that what I need. But I was looking for a shoe that would be comfortable on those light runs as well as would work walking or biking the stanley park seawall and chasing a toddler around everywhere and anywhere. After several hours of shoe shopping I settled on the Norvan's as they check all those boxes while still looking like a nice shoe. I find many modern walking/running shoes to be immensely bulky and unattractive, but arcteryx kept the profile of these a bit on the sleeker side which I appreciate. And it's a bonus that arcteryx is still canadian owned, and they were the cheapest shoes I looked at with the pro deal. Very happy with my purchase.

Comfortable, lightweight trail runnners

I took these shoes on a rocky, hilly, and muddy run and they performed great right out of the box. Good support around the soles and ankles without feeling too heavy. I also love the feature on the lip that allows you to tuck in your laces! I haven't taken them hiking yet, but I am excited to -- I imagine they will also do well on day hikes because the rocker sole isn't as aggressive as some of the other Arc'teryx trail running shoes. All-around great shoe!

Arcteryx shoes are always top of class. These are comfortable, super light weight, and breathable. Feels like walking/running on clouds. I am slightly flat footed with a slightly wide foot and these are phenomenal. Highly recommend.

I bought these shoes for trail running and they quickly became my go to shoe. They feel amazing on my feet and have great traction for the trails, but are so comfortable that I got another pair for work (healthcare), dog walks, weekends, and everything in between. They do run a half size big for me so order accordingly!

Great trail running shoe!

Best trail running shoe for me especially on the rocky and rooty trails on the East Coast. No blisters due to good heel hug and space for my toes. The vibram/non-slip sole of the shoe is awesome. I have been loyal to other footwear brands with my trailrunning footwear for years but I am not officially converted to the Norvan LD4.The shoe runs a little large. I'm typically a women's US size 8 but when down to a 7.5

My New Favourite Shoe!

I've logged just under 200km in the new Arc'teryx LD4s and have been really impressed with their performance. Based in Squamish, I’ve tested them across a variety of terrain, and they’ve handled it all exceptionally well. The grip is solid—both on rock slabs and in muddy conditions.
Compared to the LD3s, these feel sleeker and more dialed in. My feet feel secure, especially on technical terrain, which has given me a lot of confidence on more demanding routes. My longest run so far in them has been 30km, and I found the cushioning to be nicely balanced, it offers comfort over distance without completely muting ground feel.
I’d recommend the LD4 as a versatile all-trail shoe that really shines on technical terrain.

Major upgrade to the LD series

Having owned and heavily used the LD 2 and LD 3 shoes, I can easily say the LD 4's are my favourite iteration yet. First of all, they were the easiest to break in yet. In the past it's taken weeks to run without sore feet, but these ones were a breeze with very little stiff/soreness.
They "feel" lighter and more responsive than the prior versions too, and the grip has definitely levelled up. I've used these on both road and trail so far (plus some very old cobblestone roads while travelling) and I've enjoyed the feel on all of those. I don't think I'd recommend it for consistent longer runs on pavement (for obvious reasons) but have done a few 8-10k runs with them and still felt great.
Finally it feels like the toe box might be a bit more spacious in this version? I have slight bunions on the outer edges (pinky side) of my feet so the room is a big W for me :)

A great update to an already awesome trail shoe!

My previous concern with the LD3s was that the edges of the toe box had a tendency to blow out after running on rocky terrain. HOWEVER, these solve that issue! The sides of the toe box are reinforced with an additional layer and the toe box itself has been shaved down slightly to mold better to natural foot movement. Super great changes to an already amazing shoe!

A subtle yet solid upgrade!

The Norvan LD4 has some thoughtful updates that long-distance trail runners will appreciate. Right away, the improved heel fit stands out and it locks in more securely than previous versions and gifts a more confidence and stability on technical terrain.
The redesigned lug pattern is meant to offer better grip, and while it’s not a night-and-day difference on shorter runs, the added traction really comes through when needed. There’s also a noticeable change in cushioning — it feels a touch more forgiving underfoot.
The LD4 stays true to the Norvan DNA - light, reliable, and built for distance.

Love these so far!

These have been a great addition to the shoe quiver. Toebox feels roomier, and the cushion is just enough for harder-packed gravel and concrete between softer trails. I swapped out the original beds for superfeet to support a high arch (like all of my other shoes) and they work great. I also have a narrow foot, so I make sure to lace them up as tight as I can. The only thing I've noticed is that the tongue is a lighter, stretchy material, similar to the gaiter on other styles. This feels a bit thick/long on me, but I think it will be totally fine on a more medium-sized foot. Still plenty comfy/adjustable. This is my 2nd pair of Norvans (loved my LD 3's!), so excited to continue to put these to the test!

comfortable right out of the box

These felt great right out of the box. The Norvan has performed well in mud and on rock without loosing any traction. So far they have been great light weight trail shoes. I will say I had to size down. I typically wear 8W and went with the 7.5W, and I still have a roomy toe box.

Brilliant do-it-all trail shoe

Really thrilled with this generation of the Norvan trail runner. It's definitely going to be a daily driver around the Wasatch this summer ... the light weight helps on long energy-sapping days, and the grip is holding well on loose gravelly trails in the SLC foothills. The rubber they used on the soles is billed as "mud-shedding" and I've put that to the test—they do indeed shed mud nicely, which I appreciate so much ... getting mud caked on is always a pain and a slow-down. The lace garage is working well--tie the laces in a bow, then tuck them into the stretchy bow-holder to stay put for your whole run. I chose the Rune/Dark Arctic Silk color because in real life it's a pretty pale pink; I was worried they'd look dirty quickly, but after several outings the shoe's exterior seems to shed dirt and resist scuffs well.

Adore the New Tread

I really do love the new Norvan design this year. I feel like the top is more breathable and the sides are more water and mud resistant. The tread feels like it has more tractions when I am going downhill on mud and the shoe feels a lighter. Excited to break these in more on spring trails.

Great lightweight trail runners!

These shoes are so light you forget you're wearing them! I've taken them on a few trails already and have found them to be super responsive, lightweight, and great traction on rock. The soles are surprisingly cushiony and I don't feel every little rock I'm running over.
I did find that they run a little larger than LD3s. I am usually a size 8.5 for LD3 and found myself right in between an 8 and 8.5 for LD4.

Lightweight and responsive!

Absolutely love the new Norvan LD 4 shoes!! These are my go to shoe for long runs on the trails. They are lightweight, breathable, and responsive. They are built with Vibram Megagrip on the bottom to ensure you dont slide off those slippery rocks. One of my favorite features is the shoe lace garage. This allows the laces to stay secure so they don’t get in the way! Overall these are my absolute favorite trail running sneakers!! They are true to size and run a bit narrower.

Leightweight and comfortable shoe!

Shoes are incredibly lightweight - perfect for longer runs where weight really matters. Good cushion balance for trail purposes. Spacious around the toes, I would consider sizing half a size down for my more narrow feet. I am also always looking for more neutral shoe colors, so I love the sleek black!

Favorite pair of trail runners

Fantastic trail running shoes that excel in technical terrain and wet, muddy conditions typical of the PNW. Very stable and grippy, as well as comfortable and supportive (from short 5k runs through ultra marathon distances). This pair is even better than my previous pair of Norvan trail runners (which I also enjoyed and found to be a great shoe).
A note about sizing: I normally wear a size 5.5 in most trail running shoes, but for Norvan shoes (and other Arc'teryx shoes), 5.5 is too big and I have to size down to 5

I've been testing these shoes for a while now and I've been loving them for my North Vancouver runs that are on more technical terrain like the Baden Powell. Really good ground feel and stability and still super comfortable. Looking forward to summer adventures in these!

Great Trail shoe

I’ve been putting different versions of the Norvan LD through its paces on long runs and big mountain days, and honestly, it’s been awesome. Every time, right out of the box, the fit felt snug but not too tight—secure enough for technical terrain without squeezing my feet. I have not put the miles on the new revised version, but the fit feels the same out of the box and so far I'm quite happy with the 4.
The grip is unreal—Vibram® Megagrip sticks to everything, whether it's loose dirt, wet rocks, or sketchy descents. The cushioning is just enough to keep my feet happy on long runs without making me feel disconnected from the trail. Plus, they’re super lightweight, so they don’t feel clunky, even after hours on my feet.
The breathable upper keeps things cool, though if it’s really wet, they do soak up a bit of moisture (but dry fast). Overall, these are solid, fast, and confidence-inspiring shoes—perfect for big days in the mountains. Definitely a win in my book!
