Love this jacket but quality is lacking

I absolutely love this jacket and get compliments ALL the time, but I cannot believe how many feathers I pull from it every day. I have only owned it since November 1, 2018 and have taken exceptional care of it, I have not even washed it. I haven't even worn it hiking or skiing as I was worried something would happen to it. I recently noticed tiny pin-sized holes on the outside of the right hand pocket and one under the left arm sleeve. I cannot imagine how these holes could have occurred as I do not wear this jacket while doing anything that can cause harm to it. TONS of down comes out of the pin-sized holes every day and its awfully frustrating. I currently own a Patagonia down jacket that I have put through the ringer for nearly 4 years while hiking through heavy brush to mucking horse stalls, and I haven't had any damage or feathers poking out. After owning this Cerium LT Hoody for barely 3 months, I have to say I am very disappointed in the quality for the price I paid. For nearly $400, I expected this jacket to not have any issues for years.

This is Tessa from Customer Service here to help.  We're genuinely sorry to hear about your experience with the Cerium LT Hoody. Feedback is very valuable for other customers as well as our designers so we thank you for taking a moment to share yours. It is considered normal for down garments to lose some down and feathers throughout their lifetime. Down loss generally occurs when the sharp needle-like quill of a feather pierces through the fabric or makes its way into an existing needle hole. The losses generally occur at seams through needle holes produced during the sewing of the garment, but can also happen right through the face fabric itself. Losses tend to occur more often on a brand new garment and should become less frequent after some use. Should you feel that the down loss is excessive or affecting the performance of your garment, please take care to complete our product service form below: https://www.arcteryx.com/dk/en/help/product-service/service-request If you have any further questions, please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-866-458-2473 (available Monday-Friday 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM PST).

Feathers everywhere!

This is a very lightweight and warm jacket. It's packable, which is great for traveling and commuting. The price point is steep which is expected given the brand's typical quality and design, however, after owning this jacket for about 3 months the down feathers are spilling out everywhere. I'm astonished at how poor the quality is, given the price, and wish I hadn't purchased.

I have sold down jacket for 13 year from 20 different manufacturers and feathers poking trough the materials happens to all lightweight jackets. the reason is that lightweight down jackets contain between 10% and 3% feathers mixed in with the down clusters. And a feather has a pointy sharp end that can poke trough any thin woven material (no matter the price range of the product) the solution is to grab the feather from behind and pull it back into the jacket. if this is something you dont want to do? dont buy lightweight products advertised with low pack volume. go for a heavier jacket with a membrane.

Great lightweight jacket

Wonderful versatile jacket. I am someone who runs on the cold side so I needed a lightweight jacket for that extra warmth when taking breaks while hiking and skiing. The jacket packs down to almost nothing and warms me up pretty quickly if I am starting to get cold. It is also great just for everyday use during the fall and winter days I have not had an issue with the feathers leaking yet.

Love it!!

I am new to the Arc'Teryx brand and love it so far. This was a birthday gift and the first jacket was purchased at a local store. First and only time wearing it I got to the top of a summit and put it on and the zipper came apart. I was told when I returned the jacket that the zipper was just off the track and not defective but I'll admit I was a little worried about this given the price you pay for this jacket. I took a chance and ordered the same one on the Arc'Teryx site and so far so good. I've never owned a jacket that costs this much so it's risky. I hope I don't have any further issues with the zipper or anything else. I will say that this jacket is soooo warm and kept me nice and cozy on my winter hikes recently. I love that it has a hood and that is often used when I summit a mountain to stay warm. It is also so lightweight and packable for hiking which is a true plus because you don't want to have to carry a lot of weight on your back. Hoping it will last me a very long time. Arc'Teryx may become one of my favorite brands now. We'll see.....

Exceeds expectations

I wore this hoody WAY more than I expected over the last year. It has had a lot of use, and still looks great. It is extremely versatile - I've used it: 1) in Victoria BC where it's an excellent fall-winter-spring jacket. Occasionally I pair it with a rain jacket, and I really don't need anything else. 2) for fieldwork in Kugluktuk/Cambridge Bay, Nunavut (November and April-June). In temperatures of about -5/-10C, I could wear this hoody with a fleece and neck warmer, and need nothing else to stay warm. In REALLY cold temperatures, it was a fantastic layer under a parka. The jacket holds up to rain and wind better than I expected. While down obviously isn't great when it's wet, I have sometimes been caught out in the rain. The hoody is somewhat water resistant, so I'm fine unless it's pouring. Likewise, it's not windproof. When it's very windy you can feel exactly where the seams are located, but that takes more wind than I expected. The pockets are great- they zip shut and are large enough for a smartphone and your hand. I wear a size M, which is typical for me.

Great jacket but down leaks

Overall love the style, look, fit and warmth of this jacket but incredibly disappointed in the quality. The down feathers are leaking out the back seams. I thought this would subside after a couple wears but now I am embarrassed to put it on as it looks like I have two cuts down the back of the jacket. For such an expensive down jacket, in comparison to competitors, I expected more from Arc'teryx. This is the 5th item I have owned from Arc'teryx and the only one I would not recommend.

My favourite jacket

I bought this jacket to go hiking. I love it so much that I wore the jacket everyday last Winter for running around town. This jacket is the warmest and lightest that I own. I hate Winter so much and this jacket made my life bearable. I would throw out all of my fashion jackets for more of these if I had not spent so much money on the other jackets. I can wear a singlet under the jacket in 10 degrees Celsius and be perfectly warm. I don’t feel like I am struggling under a lot of weight and layers when I wear the jacket. I can pack the jacket into the hidden pocket bag and pop it in my handbag if I am not wearing it. I have had no shedding problems despite owning it for a year. Washing just fluffed it up and made the jacket warmer. The fit is perfect. (Well slightly tight around the bust but I am busty so good enough.) I normally wear an AU16 so I bought an XL. I can wear a sports top and a polar fleece under the jacket during minus degree nights. The only downside is that I get hot in the jacket when I am exercising and there is no ventilation for sweat or condensation from my body heat. However, I don’t care about this. Vented jackets are colder and I would rather have a warm jacket that I can unzip when necessary.

Best compromise Item you can possibly wear!

I wear it everyday. It is the best compromise item you can possibly wear: if it is cold, it provides perfect insulation, if it is warm, you never feel too warm. I sometimes wear it as an outerlayer when I have to stop for a few minutes so that I don't get cold. It packs super small, beautifully cut. For Chamonix, it's a must have all year around item. Disappointing material quality

I am extremely disappointed in my recent purchase of this jacket. Given the price, I would expect it to last me at least a few winters with normal wear. Instead, after using the jacket about 3 times per week for just a few months, I am noticing the down shedding and the material giving way. I wear this from the house to the car to the office or errands and cannot think of how I would have torn the fabric. No rock climbing or downhill skiing here. I do not dare to wash it for fear it will fall apart.

I had the same problem. And they decided that the tear (that I have no clue how it happened) and the zipper busting after "about town" wear for 3 years, was normal wear and tear. I don't know about you, but for the cost, I'd expect to have the jacket much longer. Because of the fast that it was "normal" wear and tear in their opinion, they were very little help. It's really affected my thoughts on the brand overall.

Geniales Teil

Extremely light

This jacket is incredebly light and feels cosy, and it gives great freedom of movement. I have tried on this as well as the Thorium AR and Cerium SV jacket. The Cerium LT is the lightest of those three, but it is also least warm. I get cold extremely easily and I would say that for me the jacket would be great for hiking with temperatures around 5-10 degrees Celsius. Since I wanted to have a jacket for a bit colder conditions as well I bought the Thorium AR in the end, which is only little heavier. A real drawback of the Cerium LT is the fixing system of the hood. While I loved the fixing system in the Cerium SV jacket, in the Cerium LT jacket if you tighten the strap in the hood instead of keeping the hood out of your forehead it pulls it down the forehead even more until the hoods covers the eyebrows, which I do not find comfortable. I usually wear size S in jackets, but this jacket suited me better in M.

Great, but...

Very lightweight and warm jacket/hoody. It is puffy. I own the previous season version and I found that it was lacking a few important features – a draw string at the hip – that I'm glad to see it appear on this year's version. Without a means the tighten the bottom of the hoody, it can get fairly chilly. The women's design is contoured for the hip but it's important to keep in mind every woman's body is different, so the draw string is incredibly important to have to adjust for your body if, for example, you have narrow hips and there's extra room in the jacket around your hip area. I'm also surprised that the stitching has come loose around where the cuff of my hood meets the body fabric. Not sure how this happened soon after only gentle wear (just walking)! I just taped it for now, but I'm surprised at the craftsmanship for a $450+ jacket.

Amazing Jacket. XS fit perfect (I'm a petite person)

I never write reviews about clothing. Ever. Until now. I had to take the time to seek out the review section for this jacket. This is THE perfect down-fill jacket for me. The fit is spot on. I'm a rather small person. 4'11" and about 95LBS. Its almost impossible to find a down jacket that fits everywhere. I bought another brand of down jacket and it was such a weird fit even though the size was XS. The sleeves were way too long, and the body fit was way off. I had to return it. The Cerium LT Hoody fits everywhere. The sleeves are the right length not super long like other jackets. The body length is also exactly right. There is enough room when zipped up that I can wear a base layer and another medium layer (if needed). The hood also fits really well around my head. Its stays cinched up and doesn't slip off like other hoods, or get in the way. Performance wise, it is super warm. I can wear a base layer, and be warm enough running around town or doing mildly active things. It also packs down nicely into the stuff bag. The water resistant finish is also pretty nice. The water beads off and doesn't soak in right away. Enough time to run for cover or put on a waterproof layer. This is my first Arcteryx product and I am very satisfied with this purchase. The not so great thing about this jacket is that is it SO expensive. I am hoping that the price is worth it as I expect many years of wear out of this product. Next I need to find a shell to wear over this for other winter activities. But since the price is prohibitive...it may be long time before I can afford to do that. So to all the petite ladies looking for a down jacket that FITS. This is the one for you!

Great for layering

I love this jacket! It is very warm on it's own but also works great as a layering system. It runs a little small but I know this is because it's meant to be layered. It packs down into it's own stuff sack which also doubles as a nice travel pillow. I bring it everywhere when I travel, you just can't beat the warmth for the weight!!

Beautiful

This jacket is my go to for all things semi cold. It leaves enough room for me to put another layer underneath and fits underneath a shell so wonderfully. I use this jacket to belay in on chillier days to keep myself warm during rest periods. It keeps me warm and it not bulky at all. Overall an incredible jacket.

Love the Jacket BUT DON'T DRY IT!

I loved this jacket for all the reasons I listed in the PROS: so lightweight, yet keeps me very warm. Resists water nicely. I loved it so much that I bought one for my daughter, who is the same petite size. Problem is, I washed it according to directions. Put it in the dryer at no heat with wool balls. Unfortunately - a bummer, really - it shrunk just enough that it is a bit snug. I tried my daughter's jacket and can feel the difference. But at this price and for all the PRO reasons, I won't give it up. I just have to be careful what I wear underneath - nothing bulky. I would recommend that drying directions be: air dry. It will dry in a jiffy!

Great jacket but...

I got this jacket for Christmas and so far I love it. It's great for ski touring which I find is what I use it most for. I do find it almost too warm if I am moving, though, and not quite warm enough during transitions especially if it's colder out. It is not enough to really bother me that much though because as soon as I start moving again I warm up. My one issue with this jacket is in the inner elbows and the armpits. The down will simply migrate out of those areas as soon as I bend my arm. The synthetic insulation seems to be in a strange spot as well, more toward the back rather than closer to the chest where a backpack strap might sit. This might just be my body but in the future I would love it if there was a larger patch of synthetic insulation in the armpits and maybe some different baffling in the elbows. As well I found the torso to be a little snug across the chest. I'm 5'8 and 150lb and am usually a very solid medium but I would almost consider getting a large. Best to try it on with what layers you think you'll wear first.

DISAPPOINTED

I was so excited to get this jacket at Xmas. The reviews were good. However it does not keep me warm. We have had such a mild winter (Toronto). I can't imagine how poorly it would perform it was a normal winter. Even with a wool sweater underneath, it is not adequate. A shell would provide the same protection. I would not recommend this brand nor will I buy again. For the price point, the performance is very poor.

Thank you for your feedback. Are you wearing much clothing underneath the hoody? It is better to have the down closer to the body rather than further away to keep your core warm. Also, we do make heavier weight down jackets that are warmer than the "LT" which was made as more of a mid-layer/light jacket than an outer layer jacket.

Hi Becky, Toronto winters are pretty windy with a damp cold. To get the best use out of a this down jacket, you would need to wear a shell over top for wind resistance. The Cerium LT is designed for light weight performance and the external fabric isn't going to perform at the level of wind resistance you want. Although it can still perfectly great for City wear, you need to dress appropriately to use the product the best way possible. I wouldn't recommend "writing off" Arcteryx products ever again, just after one bad experience of buying the wrong product for your needs.

My Go To Jacket

I have only great things to say about this jacket. It has become my every day winter go-to. It's extremely comfortable and lightweight, not heavy, cumbersome or constrictive like other winter jackets. The design allows for flexibility and movement. It's warm and breathes extremely well. I live in Minnesota, so I'm no stranger to the cold. Having a jacket that I can go out into the elements on a daily basis and be comfortable is essential to enjoying winter in our state. This piece is great as a stand alone or midlayer. My favorite aspect is the ease of movement and no constriction, while staying warm and cozy.

Disappointed at the down's leaking out

I purchased this hoody on December 2015. I trusted Arcteryx's quality, since I have very positive experience with the hardshell jackets and middle layer. However, this Cerium LT hoody, keeps leaking down. I'm not sure whether it can maintain the same level of warmth as promised after several months. Quite disappointed!!

Perfect fit and warmth

I've been eyeing this beauty for two years to replace my OR down jacket and somehow the bf figured out to get it for me. I'm 5'8"/150lbs and this baby seems tailor made! The arms on most Arc'teryx gear is longer than most companies which keeps me coming back-I now have three jackets, a set of base layers, and one mid layer top. I can reach out and the arms don't expose my wrists; when I reach up, my midriff isn't exposed, which is so rare in down jackets. The Cerium LT Hoody is amazingly light and wonderfully warm; ideal for Utah's mountains. Whether I'm in Little Cottonwood, PC, the Uintas or in town, this is the perfect jacket.
