Question 1

If thise is the warmest synthetic jacket then why is it only 90 grams of insulation while the atom SV is 120 grams. Make it make sense please

Helio, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thank you for your question. The Nuclei SV Parka is our warmest synthetically insulated belay parka, and its insulation is distributed differently than the Atom SV to maximize warmth-to-weight performance and efficiency. The Nuclei SV uses 190 g/m² of Coreloft™ Continuous insulation in the body, with 90 g/m² in the sleeves and hood to reduce bulk while maintaining warmth. On the other hand, the Atom SV uses 120 g/m² of Coreloft™ Compact insulation throughout the whole jacket. Coreloft™ Continuous (used in the Nuclei SV) is made from separated polyester filaments that trap heat efficiently and retain loft, while Coreloft™ Compact (used in the Atom SV) is a highly air‑permeable, crimped, chopped filament designed for stretch and resilience. The Nuclei SV delivers great overall warmth despite having lower‑weight insulation in some areas. We hope this helps!

Question 2

I have a atom sv in Large I only wear a wool base layer underneath. Do I still get a large in the Nuclei SV as most report to size down being its a belay parka designed to be larger than normal to accommodate extra layering? Thanks

Luna · Accepted Answer

Hi Yianni, thank you for your question! While both jackets have a regular fit, the Nuclei SV Parka is roomier than the Atom SV. If you only wear a wool base layer underneath and prefer a closer fit, sizing down could be a good option. We also offer free returns, so you’re welcome to order two sizes and keep the one that fits best. You can find the details here: https://arcteryx.com/us/en/help/returns. We hope this helps!

Question 3

What are the differences between the 2024 (X000008437) and 2025 (X000009891) models?

Seymour · Accepted Answer

Hi Jack, thanks for reaching out. There were no updates made between the 2024 and 2025 versions of the Nuclei SV Parka. The design and performance remain the same across both years. We hope this helps!

Question 5

Is there any update change from 2025 model to the 2026 model? They looks exactly the same except the colorway has been changed from Lt Vitality to Fluidity which is the same blue.

Seymour · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. There have been no updates made to the Nuclei SV Parka from last season aside from the introduction of the new colour Fluidity. Fluidity is new this season and offers a more vibrant tone compared to the previous Vitality colour. We hope this helps!

Question 6

Is the outermost layer waterproof?

Helio, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thank you for your question! The outermost layer of the Nuclei SV Parka uses Hadron® LCP fabric, which is windproof and water-resistant, and is treated with an FC0 DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish to help repel light moisture. However, this jacket is not waterproof. It’s designed for cold, dry environments where insulation, warmth, and packability are key, rather than prolonged exposure to heavy rain. For situations requiring waterproof protection, we recommend checking out our GORE-TEX jackets. We hope this helps!

Question 7

Ich habe die Jacke seit rund zwei Jahren und bin sehr zufrieden. Allerdings ist sie nicht mehr wasserabweisend. Könnte ich sie mit einem GoreTex Waschmittel waschen? Oder was ist eure Empfehlung?

River · Accepted Answer

If I am planning to wear this as a standalone jacket for casual use instead of as a belay jacket that needs to go over five layers, should I size down? I wear a size L in the Atom hoody.

Hi Sean, typically, we recommend sticking with your usual size, but it ultimately depends on your desired fit. The Atom Hoody has a more fitted design, while the Nuclei SV Parka features a regular fit, providing room for layering. Below, you'll find the measurements for the Nuclei in size L.
