Excellent Protection for Active Endeavors

I bought this last summer in preparation for cooler weather activities. I tested it in heavy Pacific NW rainstorms and in moderate snow/wind on Rainier. The quality is superb. The shell product does a great job of shielding wind as well as keeping me dry in light to moderate precipitation. If there is any weakness, I would say that when you stop to rest, a belay coat is a good idea to have available. But when you're active, the Gamma MX performs above expectations.

Good all around jacket

Very comfortable jacket for chilly days. So far I’ve only had a chance to test this in around ~60 F weather, with slight rain, but it did exactly what you’d want. Keeps you comfortable and dry in a light rain.

All Around Best Jacket

I am a Cross Country coach and teacher in Montana. This jacket pretty much works in all conditions-including quite a bit of rain and snow. I like it because it sheds water, cuts the wind, and isn't too heavy when moving around courses cheering for runners! It isn't totally waterproof, but accommodates a shell easily in heavy downpours. I used it last year at state when it snowed 9 inches with a wind-chill below zero.

Great versatility

Super versatile soft shell with decent layering options underneath. For reference I was able to comfortably layer an Atom LT of the same size underneath. A Cerium LT of the same size was a little too puffy for it. The hood is quite large because it's meant to be able to fit over a helmet. If that's an issue for you, then just be aware of that (you can easily tighten it down to fit over a non-helmeted head).

Excellent adaptability to varying conditions

This is, by far, the best soft shell I have ever used. The product has excellent DWR capabilities and includes a fleece interior that provides me the appropriate level of warmth with out developing perspiration . The Gamma is able to keep me comfortable during active hikes/climbs during there Fall, Summer and Spring.

Perfect for layered weather

I live near Madison, WI and our weather can go from 30s in the morning to 70s in the afternoon with a mix of rain to sun. This jacket allows me to layer perfectly depending on the days needs. I am very pleased. Its also beautiful.

Such an awesome Jacket

This is going to be my new go to for many years to come. It’s very light, and very breathable while also being warm. It’s great for biking and hiking in cool weather, and has enough range of motion to play fall golf in.

Better and better

I've just bought my second Gamma MX after a six year gap. My first was worn till it wore out. I tried a replacement at the time but the sizing had changed as had the material. Now the latest MX hoody is as good as I remember the original, but with smarter sleeve ends and fit as I remember.

The Lord of the Jackets.

One jacket to rule them all. I believe I bought my first Gamma jacket at an REI in the SF Bay Area in 2002. I bought that jacket when I was in the U.S. Army as it was superior to anything in the Army inventory. Then I had to use it as a mid layer since you cannot show logos on any of your equipment. Thant jacket (non-hoody), which I still own today, stood up to years of abuse but eventually needed to be replaced. I probably got its replacement in 2015 and it still looks brand new. It is my go to jacket in fall and spring as temperatures rise or fall in Japan, where I live. However, it can still be used as a mid layer under a shell or event with a down or synthetic fill jacket above it. I have even used it as an outer layer with just a t-shirt for warm-weather skiing. Absolutely perfect. I have owned a lot of other jackets and many that fill different roles, but if I had to have one jacket to have with me at all times, to travel with, to be in "the field" in the Army with, to have with me during spring skiing or late-glacier skiing in Austria for example, this would be the one. The cut, fit and form factor are impeccable. I am wearing it in my office as I type this and it feels completely comfortable. I am 5'9" (175cm) and 185lbs (84kg) and I wear a large very comfortably; I could wear a mid-weight fleece under it if I wanted to. If you are on the fence about this jacket or it appears pricey to you, get off the fence and buy it! It will last you at least a decade if you take care of it and that makes the Gamma MX hoody a bargain.

Amazing jacket

I’ve had this jacket since January. How it regulates temperature so well I’m genuinely at a loss to explain. I went out for a 15’ish mile walk on Sunday, it was middle 60’s temperature wise. If my memory serves me correctly, I was wearing a Cormac Comp t-shirt underneath & at no point did I feel the need to take off the jacket to cool down. I can recall walks where
I’ve sweated profusely & been left feeling very clammy but no such issue with this jacket. I used this under my Beta AR earlier in the year when it was considerably more chilly & I can confirm it’s great at heat retention when needed.

I’ve been wearing my Gamma MX for my daily commute from Westchester Cty to SoHo. 8 miles of which I ride an electric scooter. The Dynasty color is perfect for high visibility, and the Gamma MX has kept me dry and comfortable in some hard rain and wind. Fit is accurate. Lots of pockets. When it’s cold, I wear an Atom LT or Atom SL underneath.

Article acheté en janvier 2021, super qualité, testé en montagne comme en ville, avec ou sans couche supplémentaire. Suffisant pour du ski de fond dans les Alpes. La coupe est confort & moderne. Gros plus sur le nombre de poches et le fait que celles ci n'encombrent pas la veste visuellement.

Compré hace ya varios años la gamma MX. Es una chaqueta muy resistente pero a la vez muy transpirable. Cuando necesito más frescor abro alguno de los bolsillos del pecho. High quality material with soft interior and mixed weather durable exterior. Stretchy material. Sleeves are longer than ordinary. I am usually M size but it was too baggy for me and sleeves too long. Finally I picked S size for better fit. Hoody is spacious to wear protective helmet. Returns policy for changing sizes works very well.

Ce produit fait parti de mon équipement de base lors de mes sorties en montagnes. Légère et confortable, la veste Gamma MX apporte véritablement les petits degrés nécessaires au moment voulu. Tout comme les autres produits de la marque, la découpe et les finitions sont remarquables. Dotée de nombreuses poches, elle rend toutes activités pratiques s'il est nécessaire de ranger rapidement frontale, barres de céréales, cartes ou couteau... Capuche et poignets parfaitement ajustables. Je recommande vivement ce produit pour lequel je souhaiterais un suivi de production dans le temps, tellement j'y suis attaché !

Still exceptional!

Got my new Gamma MX hoody in December 2020 and quickly realized it's as awesome (and in some ways better) than my beloved 2010 Gamma MX jacket! Got the hoody for increased utility (now I leave the hardshell at home when light rain is likely). Have a couple dozen outings on the new one, and can vouch... it's still rugged (doesn't show scrapes and light grinds)... still stretchy (doesn't overly-inhibit shoulder/arm movement)... still warm-ish (light 'loft' inside separates you from cold air/wind outside)... still weather-worthy (sheds light rain & snow)... and still very breathable (just doesn't clam up in most activities). Most notable changes... the new one has sealed seams (for less seapage in heavy cloud bursts, and maybe tougher)... different cuffs (less bulky now, but not as comfortable under gloves)... no zipper garages on the lower hand pockets (kinda miss those, but haven't had any problems w/o 'em)... no left shoulder pocket (kinda miss that too, but definitely not a crucial feature)... and smaller/lighter zippers (if they last as long as those on my older model, I'm OK w/smaller/lighter/more-packable). So... still the best softshell available after all these years (and still lovin' the twin chest pockets that keep my phone and wallet out of my pants)!!!

Great mixed use Jacket

My business has been doing curbside service for the last year which means I spend a large part of my day standing outside talking to clients. I bought this jacket to be warm, weatherproof, and versatile. It has delivered. Only wearing a t-shirt under it, I’m comfortable from 35-55 degrees F. A light down underneath takes the comfort level into the teens. Works great in light rain. Works great against the wind. I also hike and bike in it and love the fit and all the external pockets.

I have mine for 3 years now, i use it from fall to spring, long hikes and MTB during winter. fit is perfect that has enough room for layers or fleece shirt. i wore it on my 50th birthday on the summit of mount Tammany NJ (Delaware water gap) blowing out my birthday candle in the mountain.

Perfect fall season jacket

I bought this after I realized how much I miss my old Arc'teryx Epsilon jacket I sold. Not the same as the Epsilon but close enough with added features like the chest pocket which holds my Veilance wallet perfectly. Looks wonderful and the fit and feel is spot on. Looks amazing as a base layer with the Therme jacket.
