Question 1

Question 2

What are the water repellency and breathability specs on this jacket?

Luna · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thank you for your question! The Norvan Jacket is designed to be an ultralight, highly breathable GORE‑TEX shell for running in the mountains. All of our GORE‑TEX garments have a 28,000 mm water column rating, offering excellent waterproof protection. Regarding RET (resistance to evaporative heat loss = breathability), the results of these values can vary wildly depending on temperature, humidity, pressure, and many other factors. As this value is not standardized from brand to brand or test to test, most testing doesn’t reflect real-world environment conditions, so we decided not to use those values to rate the breathability of our items. That said, the fully waterproof 3L ePE GORE‑TEX 15D recycled nylon fabric in the Norvan Jacket allows sweat and heat to escape while keeping external moisture out. We hope this helps!

Question 3

Hello, I saw one reviewer point out that the men's version has a wrist watch window but the women's version doesn't. Why would your design team give men better features than women, and why are these jackets the same price?

Helio, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thank you for bringing this up. We completely understand why this might seem confusing. Both the men’s and women’s Norvan jackets share the same premium materials, waterproof GORE‑TEX technology, breathability, and performance features, which is why they are priced equally. The differences you’ve noticed come from athlete feedback during testing. Male athletes prioritized quick visibility of watches during runs, which led to the wrist‑watch window in the men’s version. Female athletes, on the other hand, asked for extra warmth and coverage, so the women’s version includes built‑in hand warmers that tuck into the cuffs and can be extended for added comfort. Other small differences include logo size and pocket placement. The men’s jacket features larger logos and a back pocket, while the women’s version has smaller logos and a front pocket. We truly appreciate you raising this point, and your feedback will be shared with our design team as we continue to refine our products to meet the needs of all athletes. We hope this information is useful!
