warm and light jacket for the frozen urban tundra.

i am not a mountain climber but i bought this coat for its design or cut. it is a very light coat. is a super warm coat. it's a non restrictive coat. lots of space for layering. i am 5 foot and 8 inches tall. i weigh about 80 kgs. stocky build. i got the medium. i have a lot of space for layering. the hood is amazing. three ways to customize the fit. it's a noisy jacket. noisier on a very very cold day. the surface coating of this coat is very robust but noisy. if you are standing still on a corner scalping tickets then this is the coat for you. buy now. the price can only go up. not too many stores stock this jacket.

A perfect jacket. Used it for skiing, hiking and commuting and I can't imagine wearing anything else anymore. The jacket is very warm and puffy but can also be packed into a small bag which is included in one of the pockets. In the first days of wear I thought I'd prefer the jacket to be a bit shorter at the back, but it came out to be perfect, especially when it's -15 celsius lately.

Rugged less comfortable.

The irony of revised garments is that while you gain certain features, you often lose key qualities of the original design. The new version is rugged but less comfortable. The older version was lighter and puffier. Arc'teryx should strive to be more transparent in their product descriptions. They highlight the new fabric, but you always have to inquire them about changes to sizing, insulation and other updates.
