Which jacket is best for riding on a motorcycle

Hi Dugger, thank you for your question. None of our jackets are designed or certified for motorcycle riding, so we do not recommend any specific model as motorcycle gear. Motorcycle-specific jackets typically incorporate specialized abrasion-resistant materials and impact protection that our jackets are not designed to provide. If you're looking for weather protection, our GORE-TEX shells offer waterproof, windproof, and breathable performance. For our most rugged shell options, the Beta SV, Beta AR, and Alpha SV are the models we'd suggest considering. Please note that these jackets are designed for mountain use and are not a substitute for motorcycle-specific abrasion and impact protection.

How waterproof is this? What is the hydrostatic and breathability rating numbers.

Hi Jake, thank you for your question. All our GORE-TEX items, including the Beta SV Jacket, have a 28000 mm water column rating. As for breathability, we don’t assign a numerical breathability rating to our garments, as common tests (such as RET) can vary widely based on conditions and don’t reliably reflect real‑world use. That said, the Beta SV is designed to be highly breathable for demanding mountain use. In addition to the breathable GORE-TEX PRO ePE fabric, it features pit zips for rapid ventilation, allowing you to easily release excess heat and moisture during high-output activity.

You used to have a upper left arm pocket, which was great for ski lift passes… is that no longer a feature?

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. The current version of the Beta SV Jacket does not feature a pocket on the sleeve. We recommend looking into one of our jackets that is specifically designed for skiing and snowboarding, such as the Sabre Jacket, which features a zippered sleeve pocket for an RFID pass. For how cold winter temps?

The Beta SV Jacket can absolutely be used in cold winter temperatures and will provide excellent windproof and waterproof protection, but it does not provide insulation. The key to staying warm and comfortable will be layering accordingly. I tried the Beta SV in store, the best fit was medium, but the sleeve is too long, coming down past my knuckles. Is there anything that can be done? I would also like to use this as a skiing jacket,  would this be ok as it does'nt have the snow skirt. Ta

I would say for the arm length problem the easiest fix would be be to tighten the Velcro bit when you have gloves on the wrist part shouldn’t go past your knuckles. Also for the second question just adjusting the cinches at the waist should work well as mine doesn’t have a snow skirt but it is fine for me.

Hi! May I know the difference between Beta SV and the Rush jacket? Are they similar in terms of length and cut? And what’s the difference in terms of material, functionality and features? Thank you!

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. The main difference between the two is that the Rush Jacket is designed as a light touring-specific jacket, while the Beta SV Jacket is designed for all-mountain use in severe conditions. Depending on what type of activities you'll be doing, you may prefer one over the other. Both jackets are made with GORE-TEX PRO ePE, which provides waterproof, windproof, and breathable protection, but they use different face fabrics. The Beta SV Jacket has a 100d face fabric, while the Rush Jacket uses a lighterweight 80d face fabric. The Beta SV Jacket in size M has a center back length of 78.0 cm, while the Rush Jacket in the same size measures 77.0 cm. Both the Beta SV Jacket and the Rush Jacket feature our regular fit. Our classic fit is cut comfortably throughout the chest, waist, hip, and thigh. It allows freedom of movement, provides shape, and layers comfortably over or under our layers. To find the best fit, we recommend comparing your full body measurements to our size chart, as this will give you the most accurate guidance for a comfortable fit. We hope this helps!
