Loving the jacket

I've been using the jacket since Spring and it's served me very well. The waterproofing is insane compared to other jackets I've used in the past, and I'm very glad I invested in an Arc'teryx Beta AR.

Best all around jacket

Had my beta for 10 years and it survived all the use and abuse. Used it for skiing, hiking and even as my rain jacket around town. Loved how easy it was to pack up and Arc’teryx customer service was really helpful when I needed to repair it.

Great all around mixed use jacket

I have had an earlier version for @ 5 years now. Been hiking, snowshoeing and skiing with this jacket. Not too tight a fit which means you can layer underneeth. Very versatile jacket.

Il a malheureusement des coutures intérieure qui ont décollé. J’ai contacté le service à la clientèle et il m’ont retourné un nouveau sans aucune charge supplémentaire.Depuis 2 ans j’ai mon nouveau Bêta que j’adore. Il est vraiment indispensable.

Main jacket for all situations

I mainly use this for getting around the city on foot and on bike. Pairs really well with a light down layer for temperatures from 0C to 10C. I used this as my shell when climbing Mount Fuji in the offseason/winter and it held up perfectly.

This jacket I use year round. City to mountain. I think it is the best shell jacket’s Arcteryx sells if you live in a cold-warm climate and plan to use the jacket for everything from running errands and city walking to snowboarding and going for a hike. The thicker material is much better for below zero climates. If you live in a place that doesn’t get cold. The Beta LT might be a better jacket.

I’ve been nothing but impressed with this shells performance. The perfect mid range shell that performs in the back country but also just on the day to day stuff. Pairing this with an atom is the best combo for staying warm and dry and still feeling like you’re wearing a light jacket.

Beast of a Jacket

Got this jacket a few months ago and I can say this jacket is a beast of a jacket. I own a lot of jackets, from marmot, or, Patagonia, and Arcteryx. I keep finding myself go for this jacket every time. It’s durable, sleek, and of course water resistant. You probably will not ever have to buy another jacket. I know they can be pricey but they hold their value and will last a long time. They are also backed by and Incredible warranty.

I had two, but none of them can be worn now due to open gluing. The company allows one replacement only. I still think the life of the jacket is too short. Quality issue!

Great, for a while

I live in the UK , a MLTB Mountain Leader, and have a BetaAR jacket. It is less than 4 years old and in reality has been used very little, and when stored, out of sunlight etc. It still looks like new, except...
The issue is the top of the hood has delaminated.
I have looked online and it seems others have had the same problem and when they send it to the European customer service centre, it seems to stay with them for a number of weeks, before the answer comes back there is nothing they can do.
So, forewarned is forearmed, it is an expensive jacket. If you are lucky and you don't have any problems, it will be great. If not, then you could be looking at having to purchase a new one sooner than you think.
I'm afraid I can't recommend the jacket as there appear to be durability issues and I would advise those considering purchasing one to look at reviews of those who have had one 3+ years.
It's disappointing as everything else, fit, features are good and well thought through.

As a loyal and repeat Arcteryx customer the disappointment here is that the company is not addressing a delamination issue. You are competing with companies like Patagonia that would not let a problem like this go unresolved. Unless this customer has done something unusual to cause a delamination, Arcteryx needs to do something to make this right.
I am about to spend another $750-900 (Cdn) on a new shell (love everything I own from Arc) and have likely spent around $2400 on product in the past 5 years. If this happened with Patagonia they would try to fix it (not possible likely) or offer a replacement (if it's been 4 years then perhaps a 50% discount on a new one). Get it together please Arc'teryx!

Gore-Tex won't save you from poor manufacture

The most waterproof/breathable membrane is useless if you have a giant hole in the belly. Water just leak through and is quite an awful experience being trapped in a blizzard and freezing fog with a leaking jacket that doesn't protect as it should. It supposed to be and all-round alpine jacket, but even wearing an Arc'teryx C-Quence harness, the teeth opens up in the area of the belt, so maybe is just another urban jacket mimicking technical gear just like Columbia or Merrell. Also the fitting is awful, even I, who have a short torso, find the jacket too short and for being an S size, even with a heavy fleece and a thick synthetic jacket can't fill the jacket so it feels cold due to the extra space; this baggyness, specially in the torso makes it uncomfortable to climb due to the extra material getting in the way when swinging ice tools. I just was expecting a better designed product based on their reputation.

Yeah, I tried that, they won't solve my issue nor respect the warranty. Costumer service is just awful and useless. If you won't respect your own warranty, why offer one in the first place, it seems just as an excuse to charge more.
