Very pleased with this product. Very lightweight and can be rolled up to the size of your fist. Wore it on top of Scafell Pike with just a t-shirt underneath on a very windy day and it kept me warm. Would definitely buy Arc'teryx products again.

The jacket I don’t leave home without

hace 6 años
I own several of the heavy hitters from Arc’teryx, but was looking for something light to wear on the warm days that get windy and chilly on the summit. This jacket absolutely answered the call! It’s super light and takes up no space in a pack, but it really blocks the wind without ever getting clammy. On cool Spring or Fall days I’ll throw this over a mid layer, and in the summer I’ll always carry it to throw over a T-shirt when the winds come up. I’ve even worn this walking across the Golden Gate Bridge in howling winds and didn’t get chilled at all! The material may be thin but it’s quite strong. I slipped in some loose rock coming down from a peak and landed hard In some scree. I thought” well, so much for this jacket” but even though my arm was cut up the jacket was good as new! Great job, Arcteryx!!

Versatility!

hace 6 años
The Squamish Hoody is a great jacket. It's super lightweight, blocks ninety-eight percent of the wind, and breathes really well during higher aerobic output. I purchased the men's medium in "Flare," which is a high-vis orange/red, but I see more orange than red, however, some photos of me wearing it make it appear as a red jacket. My only gripes with the Squamish Hoody is the front hem is cut kind of short for me - 5'10, 166 lbs. I wish the front hem was cut a little longer as I fear it may ride up a bit under a harness. This hasn't proven true, though. Secondly, The hood is not Arc'teryx's phenomenal "StormHood," which swallows a climbing helmet and asks for more! The hood/neck on the Squamish Hoody feels a lot tighter than that of my Alpha FL. It's some-what restrictive in the chin/neck area, which I don't like. All-in-all, it fits great everywhere else and I've enjoyed wearing it very much. I've gotten several compliments on the "Flare" color, which is great as I love it. Great choice!

Lightweight Tank

hace 6 años
Finding the perfect windbreaker is a real challenge and really subjective depending on where it's to be used and how. I find myself grabbing for my Incendo during the warmer months while mountain biking or the Trino if it's colder. Backpacking or day hikes the Nodin for an ultralight shell when heavy rain isn't in the forecast and ultralight comfort are in order and then this Squamish when things are a bit cooler or higher winds are on the horizon. This compresses nearly as impressively as the Nodin yet provides a much higer level of durability and abrasion resistance due to the 30D vs the Nodin's 20D Tyono face. The hood is nice and I don't find it to generate humidity as many windbreaker hoods do, the slight reinforcement on the brim of the hood is an awesome touch when the rain starts. It can get a bit balmy during high output sessions but a quick heat dump seems to provide a lasting remedy while other jackets seem to retain the moisture when zipped back up. This is an essential piece for good reason. I'm very glad I added it to the arsenal and my Atom LTs love hiding under it when sitting really close to the campfire with ashes blowing about. **Guys from the design team** Please add hand pockets and catapult this useful piece into legendary status! It really suffers without them.

Perfect.

Had the opportunity to test this jacket the day after it came in under some pretty heavy rain and I was totally blown away by it. I was kept totally dry, it seems to breathe well (the humidity here is just insane and I felt good) and you can certainly tell just by the quality of the jacket that you will have this one in your inventory for the next while. I wouldn't recommend for cold or even chilly conditions, but I imagine with the proper layers you'd be good to go.

A permanent place in my pack for high alpine hikes or runs

hace 6 años
I used this jacket a lot when approaching higher elevations in San Juan Mountains and N. Arizona during late Spring/Summer. On top of a base layer and sometimes a atom LT vest it kept me warm when wind picked up on ridges or summit ascents even with 40+ mph winds. Light and easily packed, it has been a constant in my pack in the months since I purchased it. Even handled a little rain. Great jacket.

Super light, like wearing nothing!

hace 6 años
Everything about this jacket screams quality. It can be packed down to it's own pocket, and it can be stowed away practically anywhere. No reason not to bring it during spring or summer. It is very thin, but works wonders as a windbreaker. When you tighten the hood, hem, and cuffs, it keeps the warmth inside a little better. My jacket has yet to shed it's initial layer of DWR, so little rain can be just shaken off. Had maybe two or three little rains with this. The brim of the hood can be a problem if not using a hat, since it drops down to block your view if the hood is not adjusted properly. So not really a con, depending on how you like it. But overall, I love it and I am 100% happy with spending money on this.

Versatile product lightweight shell. New favorite!

hace 7 años
Fit: I'm 6' 160 lbs, tall, skinny climber/runner build. A medium works well for climbing with good length in the arms, but some extra material around the mid-section when worn with only a t-shirt or light baselayer. I can fit a small as well but it doesn't quite have the torso and arm length I need. If I had a large closet, I'd have a small for running, and a medium for climbing! However, the medium is perfect for layering over a fleece or lightweight insulation piece. Performance: I'm very impressed. I've used several products in the 'light shell/windshirt' category and this piece lands on the more burly side. Luckily it packs super small and is very lightweight, but offers much more protection in a light rain or snow storm than the competition. I feel much more confidant leaving a proper shell at home when I've got the Squamish with me. - The fabric breathes well and doesn't feel 'plasticy' against the skin. - Durability is impressive. I've climbed a little offwidth in this jacket with no noticeable wear and tear! - It sits nicely under a harness with no pulls or tabs in the way and the helmet compatible hood is clutch. - One simple chest pocket and glove-workable wrist closures are very much appreciated. Overall, great jacket I bring with me on most spring, summer and fall trips.

My Favorite Layer

hace 7 años
I can't say enough good about this jacket. Arcteryx really nailed it. I've had this jacket for about 3 years now, I wear it almost every time I step outside. It's been on about 12 expeditions and a few extended rock climbing trips. The DWR is gone, the fabric is wearing through where my pack rubs on my back, it's all UV faded on the shoulders and arms from so much time on the glacier. It's about ready for retirement, but I just keep putting it on when I go to leave the house on a ski tour or for a climb; it hasn't quit yet. The breathability (and therefore slightly less windproof) is perfect to use as an active layer that sheds wind and moisture. Most people carry a hardshell anyways for when the wind really starts nuking, so having this be a little less windproof only improves functionality. This is very slightly heavier than similar jackets from the competition but I've watched my friends go through a new windshirt every few months while mine just keeps trucking. I've worn this climbing thousands of feet of granite and sandstone with no significant wear or tear. This one also has a good fit, with a helmet compatible hood; most of the competition cut theirs for runners without helmets. I can't recommend this windshirt highly enough. My favorite layer across all seasons and for all activities.

Excellent windshell

hace 7 años
I used this windshell extensively while trekking in the Japanese mountains last summer and have been very happy with it. It cuts the wind just the right amount while being breathable enough for high exertion, it is light and compact so that when the temperature rises it will go in your pack with no issue. It will resist a drizzle quite well if you are moving (especially if wearing a fleece underneath which will dry faster than it gets wet) and I pretty much never had to pull out any gore-tex as long as I was not stopped. The cut is excellent, especially the hood. The fabric has some stretch to it (no elasthane, but looks "crimpled" from close up wich allows a bit of give) and while feeling thin is actually quite durable: I have yet to put a hole in it, and I have been mostly backpacking (pack about 12-14kg) with it. The only minor issue I have with it is the lack of pockets: while I understand the minimalistic approach here, I wouldn't mind a beefier version of this jacket with hand pockets or at least a second chest pocket, and maybe a slightly stronger fabric on the shoulders while we are at it.

Quick and dry

hace 7 años
If you are looking for an active shell allowing you a quick pace without overheating, then the Squamish is what you look for! I have bought it in Autumn 2017 and tested is on the Italian Alps in Winter. I have used the Squamish in combination with the Arc'teryx Satoro SV as baselayer when snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. I was enthusistic, I finally found a great combo to keep a quick pace in cold and windy conditions without the need to layer up too much; which translates into staying dry!! I really liked also the extreme packability and ease of use of the Squamish. When you don't need it, it's very easy to wrap it up into its own chest pocket as you move and keep it handy by clipping it to a carabiner on the throusers or bacpack. Look forward to using it in Spring/Summer now!!

Awesome bit of kit! Replaced my north face atmosphere windbreaker and is almost half the size. Can just throw in pack/pocket/Maka and head out. Not a full hard shell but will let you get away with more than you think. Size L for travelling light (I’m 185cm tall and weigh around 100Kg, active/father-figure). I'm thinking of getting an XL just for different layering options through winter (when its not hammering it down)

hace 7 años
I am a UIMLA International Mountain Leader and I guide long distance treks in the Alps. I decided to try the Squamish Hoody this summer as a part of a new and more adaptable layering system. By having this lightweight and wind proof jacket I was able to leave my more bulky soft shell behind. The Squamish Hoody was great on its own for cool mornings and combined with a thin mid layer (which I would have anyway) made it great in colder conditions. I was amazed at how much of a difference such a thin light jacket could make and it saves weight and space in my pack. I would highly recommend it!

Ventajasis super light and packs to nothing, adds a great deal of warmth for being so light, is great for keeping the wind off, combined with a mid layer it replaces a soft shell
Inconvenientesnot sure how durable it would be for climbing

Sí, Recomiendo este producto.

Best shell for most days

hace 7 años
I wear this shell for 80% of the time during activity with a back-up shell like the Alpha SL in my backpack. The waterproofs only comes out in heavy downpours or snowfalls. I have had mine for three years and I have used it rockclimbing in the Lofoten Islands in Norway, ski-joring (cross-country skiing with my Alaskan Husky) in northern Sweden and for everyday activities like running.

Very versatile light jacket

hace 7 años
This is the lightest jacket in my Arcteryx collection. I use it in the city for cycling as well as in the mountains during summertime when temperatures are above 10c. It is very versatile and top quality. I do not find it very breathable. Occasionally, I have used it for running but since there are no vents, I would not recommend it for that activity. Highly recommended.

Awesome windbreaker

hace 7 años
I use this jacket every time I am outside. Both for hiking, climbing and running. It is just so breathable and comfortable so you are basically always wearing it. If not it does not weigh or fill in your pack at all.

Lightweight, versatile jacket!

Excellent lightweight jacket for any traveler or hiker. It repels wind and light rain. I have used it to travel and to bring it to work and it can be stored in my backpack very easily. Love Arc'Teryx products!

My favorite piece

hace 7 años
This is a perfect wind shell for windy fall and spring days or cold summer mornings. It has some wicking but if it touches your skin, you will get wet. It packs small in it's own check pocket. Perfect for travel. The wrinkles go away quick after unpacking. I love this jacket so much that I own a hoody and non hoody as well as the LEAF Wraith set.

It worth every single penny

hace 7 años
Best light jacket ever! Break wind like a wall, light as a feather. I was paddling in a strong wind and flipped over in the water. I got out very fast in couple second. It kept me dry like I never flipped over. My base layer was still completely dry even though I emmersed in the water for few seconds. My friends was very impressed with this jacket’s performance. It breath super well and I don’t get over heated at all.

So light you can bring it even when you dont think you need it

hace 7 años
Got it from my gf for my birthday, and put it to the test just a few days later. Hiked for 6hours with 12kg on my back, going up 1300m. This jacket stops all wind, but breathes almost like you're not wearing anything at all. Had a heavy rain shower hit us without no warning, and put my Alpha SV on top and kept moving. I figured I was gonna drip from sweat, but no. The fit is snug, but not like a real running jacket. I'm 173cm tall and 74kg and wear a small.

BEST WIND JACKET

hace 7 años
IF you are looking for a single use wind jacket for summer or extended three seasons look no further. This jacket is fantastically packable and can be used in a variety of situations. The only thing to note is the Hood is huge, but also could accommodate some helmets (which I don't know why you'd want that) For the price this jacket is a no brainer.
