Amazing how something with so many features can be so lightweight. Still pretty new so can’t comment on durability, but for the first time out in a heavy snowstorm performed really well. I did find the sleeves unusually long (Size M) which is slightly annoying and not something I normally experience with other shells, but small issue in the scheme of things.

Durability concerns…quite disappointed

I purchased this jacket two years ago, intending it to be a highly versatile, lightweight piece for rain protection, skiing, ski touring, and everyday use. Unfortunately, I have started noticing significant wear on the back, to the point where I am now worried the fabric might tear. I have attached a photo so you can see the issue. I am genuinely disappointed with the fabric’s durability. I believe the wear is likely caused by wearing a backpack while using the jacket, which seems like a completely standard use case. I have owned several similar jackets before, and this is the first one to develop this kind of issue. It raises concerns for me about the durability of Arc’teryx fabrics. As a big fan of the brand, I expected better longevity from this product. I would appreciate it if customer service could reach out to explore whether anything can be done to repair the jacket. Given its price, I would be really disappointed if I had to replace it so soon.

Some odd sizing unfortunately...

I dont know guys, but imho sizing is out of order. Seriously. I have always used M sizing and my measurements didnt change at all. My previous Beta SL is still fine, little worn out so I tried and compared M and S of the new model. So the M is bigger in every aspect, and sleeves are tooo long realy. While the S size is simply too small... Maybe not the sleeves, they measure just fine 🙂 Dear Asteryx team, I am fan of your products sinse like 2012... And always loved your style and technically advanced clothes. But this time, I dont know how... But the sizing changes are to radical for me. Looking forward to revised release of this model. Cheers

Great jacket…would have been 5 stars however I feel for the premium price you pay for Arc’teryx the zip feels a little weak. I suppose only time will tell on that. Material is a little noisy. But overall very happy.

Awesome shell for resort skiing

I recently wore the Arc’teryx Beta SL jacket in Vitality Blue on a ski trip to Aspen, and it absolutely delivered! The jacket is lightweight but completely weatherproof, which was perfect for Aspen’s unpredictable mountain weather. It kept me dry and warm during heavy snowfalls and was breathable enough for those intense runs down the slopes. The fit is fantastic—athletic and snug in all the right places without restricting movement, even layered over my base layers. The Vitality Blue color is vibrant and stood out beautifully against the snowy backdrop, plus it’s easy to spot in group photos or on the slopes. I also appreciated the attention to detail, like the storm hood that fits over a helmet without being bulky and the water-resistant zippers that actually work. Overall, this jacket is a perfect blend of style, performance, and durability. If you’re looking for a high-quality shell for skiing or other outdoor adventures, I can’t recommend the Beta SL enough!

Light, Waterproof and packable.

This jacket is a little lighter and more packable than the Alpha SV I own. I’m wearing it as just a rain coat and got it to fit without all the extra sizing for insulation. Love the waterproofing and it hasn’t wetted out in the heavy rain we had recently.

Not what I expected!

When I received the jacket I liked the fit and the fact that it is lightweight. But... first time I tested the jacket in light rain (hardly wore the jacket 2-3 times before that), directly after a couple of minutes water was not repelled like it should have and jacket got wet directly in a couple of different spots. Would never expect a gore-tex jacket to fail like that. I had jackets with different membrane types and also much cheaper ones which worked better in the rain. Maybe the DWR was not applied correctly in the factory? I sent the jacket back. Too bad because I had really high expectations.

Hello Chris, thank you for sharing your feedback on the Beta SL Jacket. We’re glad you liked the fit and lightweight feel of the jacket, but we’re sorry to hear about your water repellency concerns. The dark wet spots you noticed, known as “wetting out,” don’t indicate an issue with the GORE-TEX membrane. Instead, they relate to the DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment. This jacket now feature an FC0-DWR, free of PFAS, reflecting our commitment to sustainability. This treatment requires more frequent care than the previous C6 version to maintain water repellency. While the DWR helps water bead and roll off, it doesn’t affect the waterproofness of the GORE-TEX membrane, which remains fully waterproof even if the outer fabric absorbs moisture. We appreciate your feedback, and if you have any further questions, feel free to reach out!

Beautiful jacket. Love the black sapphire color. Jacket is noisier (crunchy) than expected. Sleeves slightly long, hood very large. Enjoy the slimmer fit. Tested 30 minute walk drizzle and light rain, no repellency issues with DWR from factory (see photos). Would recommend.

I like the color options, The pit zips and how light weight the jacket is. The surface fabric is not as durable as the LT with pro, so if you're hiking through foliage especially bramble, you may have abrasion and possibly minor damage. The sizing is also a little off, as other reviewers have noted, it's not as trim as past jackets. I think the price is pretty high for having a lower level and cheaper Gore-Tex fabric. Not a fan, bring back a pro version of the LT please!

Great jacket. Tried probably a dozen rain jacket on the west coast and this one finally kept me dry. Tried all the big names and always go back to this one. Great for layer underneath in colder weather

Can we get Beta LT back?

After trying different Beta jackets, my experience is as follows: - Beta AR: Too warm - Beta: No armpit zips, which is an essential requirement - Beta LT: Perfect Arcteryx has decided to retire the LT, bring back the SL, and change the sizing as well. Now, small is too small for me and medium is too baggy. Can you bring back the LT please?

I have owned a lot of hardshell waterproof jackets over the years but this one gets a lot more use than the others. You can really tell we are in a golden age of gear, as the fabric is lighter, softer, and more comfortable than anything I've owned. It's so light weight and feels much more natural and comfortable to wear than the rigid stuff I am used to. While still maintaining some of that rigidity for durability. It's fit is great and accounts for some layering underneath. It's hard to write a detailed review for this one as it's just a fantastic hardshell that I'll be bringing everywhere.
