Thorium Hoody Hombre

I just got the new Thorium hoody and been wearing it non-stop in Canmore, Ab. It’s very light and very warm. It’s a nice improvement from the previous Thorium with the new down. It looks lighter than most down jackets out there but lives up to the Arcteryx reputation. The outer chest pocket is a great little addition and the colours this season are eye catching!

Just bought it and the size is perfect for me. XS but not too small compared to ther XS previous models.

I was looking for a jacket to fit a gap in my outerwear. I have a light down jacket that's good to about -5C and a bulky jacket for heavy duty cold (-20C and colder). I lacked a piece to wear in between those two. I had my eye on the Thorium but noticed it was transitioning between the old AR version and the new version. With cold weather coming and lack of availability in the AR version, I decided to go with the new version in Black Sapphire. I recently bought a Proton FL and a Beta AR, both in medium, so was prepared to order the new Thorium in medium. I ended up going to our Arc'teryx store to see it in person, and I'm glad I did. I could barely zip up the medium Thorium with just the Proton underneath. And I mean barely. The large fit perfectly so I went with that. It was surprising because I read that the new version is baggier, yet I still had to size up. I've now worn the jacket a few times in cold weather (-12C with -22C wind-chill) with a t-shirt and the Proton underneath, and I was very comfortable on my 30-40 minute walks. On the windiest, coldest day I put my medium Beta AR over top, and it fit. It was snug, but not uncomfortably so. Shoveling snow after my walk I was too warm so changed into a lighter jacket. So, this jacket is warm, and it has filled my specific need perfectly. It's very well made, extremely comfortable, and looks great too. To help with sizing I'm 5'11" and 175 lbs with a 33" waist and needed the large.

Bought the jacket last week couldnt be more satisfied - it is warm and the fit is very good and shaped. If you like it more tighten up ill recommend the lower size if you are in between meisures. The only thing i would like to have for more comfort would be one zipped pocket at the inside of the jacket but thats just a subjective wish.

This coat is very warm and built well! I get compliments everywhere I go. It’s very lightweight. I’m 6’8” 260lbs. The fit is great and the sleeves are long enough for me.

Fantastic combination of light weight and warmth…couldn’t be happier!

I bought original Thorium AR and this new version together to try and compare. For me, the original (AR) doesn't fit comfortably especially under armpit, it felt pretty tight. But this new version fits better and feels like better quality overall. I personally think it's worth paying more for this jacket than the other. FYI, I am 5'5 and 40 inch chest, athletic build. Purchased size small.

Very warm for the size, fits well would definitely recommend.
