Other than suspenders, what are the differences between the Beta SV and the Beta Pants?

Hi there, thank you for your question. Other than the suspenders, the main difference is that the Beta SV Pant is built to be a tougher, more durable shell for harsher alpine and winter use. It uses a heavier-duty 100D GORE-TEX PRO fabric with a MICRO-GRID backer, while the Beta Pant uses a lighter 80D GORE-TEX ePE fabric with a GORE C-KNIT backer for improved comfort and packability. The Beta SV also includes several durability-oriented features, such as a ski boot-compatible hem opening and abrasion-resistant kick patches to protect against wear from skis, boots, and crampons. The Beta Pant does not include those features. If you want the lightest and most versatile pant option for hiking and general mountain use, the Beta Pant is the better choice. If your priority is durability and protection for more demanding alpine or winter conditions, the Beta SV Pant is the better option. We hope this helps!

Q: How does the fit compare to the sabre insulated pant 2024? I have the sabre insulated pant size medium regular. What size i have to buy for the beta sv pant?

Hi there, thank you for your question! Both pants feature a Regular Fit that offers great freedom of movement and layers comfortably over a base layer. However, the sizing does differ slightly because the Beta SV is a GORE‑TEX shell pant, while the Sabre Insulated is a GORE‑TEX insulated pant. With 40gsm of synthetic insulation, the Sabre will fit approximately 2 cm smaller compared to the Beta SV. The Beta SV also includes a built‑in belt that allows you to adjust the waist as needed, so choosing the same size you wear in the Sabre Insulated would typically work well. These don’t appear to have an inner “kick patch” to help avoiding crampon bites / cuts from ski edges - is that correct? Why no additional reinforcement in that high abrasion area?
