Question 1

Does this version allow the strap to neatly tuck in to the internal sleeve? Or is it a different design so the strap doesn’t flail around like the previous design?

Rick, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello there, thank you for your question. The current version of the Small Bird Cap still includes an internal sleeve that allows the adjustment strap to be tucked away for a cleaner look when not in use. The strap management feature has not been removed, so you can still secure the excess strap rather than having it hang loose. We hope this helps.

Question 2

can you tell me vertically the gap between the top of the black strap in middle to the hat above, i wear it backwards and looking for smaller gap looks good on me ..TY

River · Accepted Answer

Hello there, the back opening height on the Small Bird Cap is 5 cm. We hope this helps!

Question 3

When was the last revision of Small Bird Cap made available to the public?

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Willard, thanks for reaching out. The Small Bird Cap was first introduced in our Spring Summer 2025 collection, and the most recent revision is part of our current Fall Winter 2025/2026 collection. It has been updated with an FC0 DWR finish for a lower footprint and new trims and design lines. We hope this helps!

Question 4

How do I know that I am purchasing the last revision of the Small Bird Cap, if I don't purchase it directly from Arc'teryx?

River · Accepted Answer

Hello Willard, thank you for your interest in the Small Bird Cap. The current revision for the Fall/Winter 2025 season carries the model number X000009782. If you're purchasing the cap through a third-party retailer, we recommend checking the product tag or listing for this specific number, any model number that differs from X000009782 indicates that the item is from a previous collection. While older versions may still offer great quality, this reference ensures you're getting the latest design and materials.

Question 5

Is there a difference in material/performance between the Small Bird and Bird Word Cap?

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Stephen, thanks for reaching out. The Small Bird Cap and the Bird Word Cap are both made with the same technical stretch polyester plain weave material and feature an FC0 DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish. We hope this helps!

Question 6

How do you recommend cleaning salt sweat stains

River · Accepted Answer

Hello there, to remove salt and sweat stains from your Small Bird Cap, spot cleaning is recommended to maintain the integrity of the fabric and shape. Prepare a solution using water and a small amount of mild detergent—adding a touch of white vinegar if needed for persistent staining. Using a soft cloth or a brush, gently apply the mixture to the affected area in circular motions, taking care not to saturate the cap. Rinse with a clean damp cloth to remove any soap residue, then blot with a towel. Allow the cap to air dry in a shaded area.

Question 7

What material is the brim made with?

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. The brim of the Small Bird Cap is made from polyethylene. We hope this helps!

Question 8

Can you cut off the end of the strap? At the end the strap has a seal. The strap is too long, it doesn’t fit in the lining.

River · Accepted Answer

Hello there, we don’t recommend cutting the end of the strap, as it's sealed to prevent fraying, and altering it could void the Limited Warranty. If the strap feels too long, you can adjust it by loosening the strap slightly to create slack, tucking the end into the internal sleeve inside the cap, and then tightening the strap again to your desired fit. This will keep the cap’s design intact while ensuring the strap fits neatly.

Question 9

I have a shallow crown, most hats when worn sit right on top of my ears and push them out. Does this cap have a low crown?

River · Accepted Answer

Hello Sebb, the Small Bird Cap does have a slightly lower-profile crown compared to more structured or classic trucker-style caps, but it’s not considered a true “low crown” hat. If you have a shallow crown and often find that hats sit on your ears and push them out, this style may offer a better fit than others, though it really depends on your personal preference. If possible, we would recommend trying it on in store to get the best sense of the fit. Alternatively, you're welcome to order it online and take advantage of our free returns within 30 days if it doesn't feel quite right.

Question 10

Is this a structured or unstructured hat? Is the front panel under the logo rigid or soft?

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Keith, thanks for reaching out. The Small Bird Cap features a classic ball cap design with a consistent material throughout, so the front panel isn’t stiff like a traditional trucker hat. It offers a more relaxed, flexible feel all around. We hope this helps!
