Question 1

Hi! I’d like to know the measurements for the XXL size. I’m a man, 188 cm tall and 85 kg. I have the Men's Atom Hoody in size L and it fits perfectly. For this model, which size would suit me better: XL or XXL? My biggest concern is the sleeve lenght.

Amelie, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello Agustín, thank you for your interest in the Proton Heavyweight Hoody. For size XXL, the measurements are :
Chest width: 139 cm
Waist width: 134 cm
Sleeve length: 91.9 cm
For comparison, the size XL measurements are : chest width: 129 cm, waist width: 124 cm and sleeve length: 90.3 cm. As for sizing, your height and weight alone are unfortunately not enough for us to confidently recommend either an XL or XXL, as fit preference can vary significantly from person to person. We hope it helps!

Question 2

Question 3

I use for cross-country Sky a Cerium jacket and layers underneath. Can I use this Proton heavy Weight above or Is It Better a goretex jacket?

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Flavia, thanks for reaching out. We recommend pairing your Cerium Jacket with a GORE-TEX shell rather than the Proton Heavyweight Hoody. This combination creates a versatile, waterproof, and windproof system of dress that offers better protection for cross-country skiing. A great option to consider is the Beta SL Jacket, which is lightweight and features pit zippers for easy ventilation during high-output activity. We hope this helps!

Question 4

Est-ce que la grandeur Small reviendra?

River · Accepted Answer

Question 5

Hi, is this coat warm enough for winter -20C ~ -10C? Just for commuting in cold weather.

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi there, the Proton Heavyweight Hoody is designed to deliver air-permeable warmth, making it a great choice for high-output activities in cold conditions. While we've seen it perform well in various temperatures, we don’t assign specific temperature ratings to our garments. This is because there are too many factors that vary from person to person. We recommend referring to our layering guide for more tips on staying warm: https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/shop/layering-guide/

Question 6

Question 7

Hello, I am trying to decide to buy either Gamma heavyweight hoody or Proton heavyweight hoody, which one is warmer ?

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. Both the Proton Heavyweight Hoody and the Gamma Heavyweight Hoody are excellent options, but the Proton Heavyweight Hoody is warmer overall. The Proton Heavyweight Hoody features synthetic insulation and is intended for high-output activities in cold conditions, while the Gamma Heavyweight Hoody is more focused on wind resistance, and is designed as a versatile softshell jacket.

Question 8

What size jacket is the model wearing?

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Rain, thanks for reaching out. All the models wearing the Proton Heavyweight Hoody in the photos are wearing a size Small.

Question 9

The atom hoody has slightly stretchy side panels that allow the jacket to move with you without any resistance. Does the proton have those as well?

Sophie · Accepted Answer

Hi Aimee, while the Proton Heavyweight Hoody doesn't feature the stretch side panels found in the Atom Hoody, it is designed with articulated patterning to provide unrestricted movement. This jacket prioritizes mobility, making it well-suited for high-output activities.

Question 10

Hello there, I am trying to decide to buy either atom heavyweight hoody or proton heavyweight hoody for my hiking activities (I wear gore-Tex on top of it), which is warmer ?

River · Accepted Answer

Hello there, both the Atom Heavyweight Hoody and the Proton Heavyweight Hoody are great options for hiking under a GORE-TEX shell, but they excel in different ways. The Atom Heavyweight Hoody provides superior warmth with its higher amount of synthetic Coreloft™ insulation and a more wind resistant face fabric. The Proton Heavyweight Hoody is also warm but designed for breathability, making it better for high-output activities or when you expect to generate more heat. If warmth is your top priority, we recommend the Atom. If you need breathability during active pursuits, the Proton is the better choice.
