Great warm coat

I am really pleased with this parka. I have only had it a few weeks, but I have been wearing it in Norway down to about -10 and feeling warm. According to the sizing guide I should've been a medium, but I found the sizing on the big side, so ended up sizing down to the small which fits perfectly even with a thick jumper underneath.

Great design and looks really good on slim fit

Looking forward to wear this during the rainy cold days and travel overseas. Design is very sleek, ordered a small for a slim fit on warmer days, previously ordered a medium to add on additional layers for the snow days. Very warm.

Great coat!

Great coat! I bought this coat because I needed an every day parka for all types of Canadian weather (wind, rain, freezing rain, snow and just plain cold). So far so good. I've had it for almost a month and have experienced everything except severe cold. One more test to go - severe cold. But I'm sure it will do the job! The fit is good with a little extra room through the body for layering or a nice warm hoodie. Love the storm hood and cuffs inside the sleeves. The shell is soft and fairly noise free. Highly recommend this coat.

Sizing Way Too Big

I bought this in 2022 and the fit is way too large. I'm 6'5 and 260 pounds and I normally wear a XXL. I sized down and bought an XL and it is still too large. I wish I could go back and purchase a L. The hood is also so large that it is useless unless you don't care about being able to see.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hi Greg, we are sorry to hear that the Therme Parka was not the correct fit. This input is valuable in enhancing our future designs to better align with customer needs across upcoming seasons. We'll share this feedback with our design team.

This is a useless review. Why did you not try it on first to figure out your correct size? Why did you not return it after realizing it didn't fit properly? Can't be bothered? Too lazy? You cannot expect clothing manufacturers to keep everything exactly the same year after year. The cut, the look...all that gets updated as trends change. None of this is the company's issue, it's YOUR issue. This has nothing to do with the actual quality or comfort of the jacket, both in which you gave 1/5.

Nice Jacket

Bought this on impulse and as a smarter alternative to my collection of more traditional down 'puffa' jackets. 6'1" & 215lbs this jacket in XL fits perfectly with room for layers - love the style; perfect for watching football during the middle of the season during UK winters (rain and cold). My only reason for not giving 5 stars - the zip! Not only is the puller on the 'wrong' side for men its tiny and difficult to locate, pretty much impossible with gloves on etc. Other than that its a stylish, warm and comfortable jacket . . .

It doesn't fit well for me

I Like this jacket so much, so i decided to go in a shop to buy It. When i wear It i discovered that It doesn't fit at all for me. I'm 185cm tall, i have broad shoulders and narrow waist, so i tried size L because It was the right size for the shoulders, but It was way too much large on the waist. Size M was ok for the waist but too small for the shoulders.

I have one and like it quite a lot. I chose it because it had the least prominent logo. Being a minimalist there are few choices for me. I wish there was a logo delete option. I'd pay more!

Size 2 down

Basic parka, seems like it has all the qualities I wanted however this piece is huge. I’m 5’7” 160# 38” chest and usually wear Small for a fitted look (like the Cerium). This easily fits like a large. Depending on how you like your coat to fit, I recommend 2 sizes down while others have recommended 1 size down if you like to layer a bunch… which I do not.

Just Perfect

What should I say, a fantastic jacket that has kept me warm during the winter for six years now. I look forward to winter every year because the jacket is simply brilliant, and I feel incredibly comfortable in it. I bought it in 2017, and it has almost no signs of wear - really impressive. Great craftsmanship. No feathers come out, and with the damp and cold weather here in Hamburg, Germany, it's the perfect companion. An investment that's worth it. I just checked again, I paid about €600 in November 2017. Today, six years later, an additional €100, totally okay. So, a clear recommendation!

I really wanted to love this parka

Amazing style, quality materials and very light, but unfortunately not that warm and sizing is odd. The mid section is large which lets the heat out. Im 6'0", 175 lbs and bought the medium. Also there is no draw string at the bottom to help keep heat in. This coat is fine at or above freezing, but anything below and I was cold. I unfortunately had to return. I really hope that next years model addresses some of these issues - which I see others also have had.

Amazing Parka!!

I bought this Parka several weeks ago because I live in a very wet and cold. I can say that the quality of the garment's material is impressive. I love it. Very warm and waterproof in tough outdoor use. Nevertheless, I finally have returned it. Because the fit does not like me but it is a personal preference (other people can manage it, I think). My height is 1,85 and my weight is 75kg so I chose S size. I believe that it was right for me. But the parka is ample by its own characteristic features. I prefer something is tigher. For this reason, I will buy the Beta Insulated Jacket, I will try it. Thanks. Greetings.

A work in progress

I am 197cm and 115kg and I am an XL in just about all Arc’Teryx purchases. I duly bought the revised version in XL but it was huge on me and not very flattering (it seems to have deviated from its original design philosophy). Reviews say to downsize, so I bought a L. This seemed to fit better, but just too tight across the chest and the proportions went from a coat to a jacket. Having returned these, I managed to find an old Therme, prior to revision (I.e 2021 model) and the fit is spot on which is like in-between a revised XL and L. Plus the silhouette is more technical/ sleek - how I imagined the revised model should of fitted. Plus it feels more durable and a bit warmer. For me the old Therme is not perfect and it has flaws which the newer model has tried to address but the sizing issue on the new Therme is a significant hindrance. In Summary, the old Therme feels closer to a ‘masterpiece’ whilst the revised version feels like a work in progress.

Good jacket, not sure if it's as good anymore

I have been eyeing the Therme Parka for a few years and finally thought I would buy one. I went into the store in Chicago and tried on an XL and a L and thought L was the right fit for me. Based on the size guide, the L fit me since I have a 43.5" chest. But when I took the jacket out in 25 degrees F weather, I noticed that because it was so accommodating in the body, the opening at the body was quite big and let in a good amount of cold air (even while layering with a hoody). If there was a synch at the waist or if it tapered, this wouldn't be a big deal. For $700, I feel that: A. the sizing should be accurate or at least have a note along the lines of "generous sizing, we recommend going down a size" which I have seen from other retailers B. the coat should be toasty warm. I think I need a size M which I am now waiting for so this review could change drastically. If the size M isn’t drastically warmer for me and it performs similarly, this isn't even a winter jacket. I understand the Therme SV is supposed to be warmer but again, for $700 the base Therme jacket should at least be warm down to 15-20 degrees F. I wouldn’t even wear this below 30 degrees Farenheit. Finally, I'll add that the quality is great. The Gore-Tex outer seems super durable and won't let a drop of water inside and is very wind resistant. The style/aesthetic is exactly what I wanted from a minimalist jacket. I also really like how when the jacket is zipped up all the way, the neck area acts almost like a scarft. But I wish the Therme was the same as some of the older versions I tried on. I HIGHLY recommend you size down.

A: Missing some features

I’m 5’10 185 lbs - 33/34 sleeve and the medium fits great. The test of how warm it is will be this weekend with sub zero temps in Vermont. My only issue is the pockets should have fleece and warm material around the part that zips up over your face (maybe fleece)?

An Urban Winter Staple

Less value for dollar but still an excellent jacket. Some changes may catch Arcteryx fans off guard with respect to sizing which is following a trend of growing to accommodate larger body types. If youve ever been in between sizes definitely size down to the smaller one. The older Atoms and Protons hug my body in a size large at my current 210 and 5'10 but in THIS coat, a Medium fits perfect with still enough room for layering. I like the subdued style, minimal badging, fabric lined hand pockets and the slightly more accommodating exterior chest pocket - while snug for a large Samsung Ultra phone, it will fit without feeling or looking awkward. I wish they had more and better placed buttons towards the top of the coat near the collar. I also notice that the Amount of fill inside the coat is noticeably less than previous Therme's. This coat does not feel as warm as the previous generation but I like the changes enough that they did make to keep this. I find myself layering normally anyway in winter months and too much fill made things too hot but if you really wanted the utmost warmth (and added length) that is why the SV version exists which replaces the older Thorsen.

A little underwhelmed....

I bought this Parka 2 weeks ago after reading alot of reviews loving Arcteryx product performance to date and pondering on the £600 price tag. I'm a little underwhelmed I have to say. The Parka is nicely made however this Parka is not going to keep you warm in temperatures less than -3 without some kind of thicker / further insulation under layer. Disappointing after reading so many reviews that it is really warm. Have worn in -3 standing for a period with no underlayer just tshirt and sweatshirt and was chilly after 30 mins. -7 same scenario this is too cold, a futher layer is required. Also -10 forget it. I should have gone for goose down. During movement, hiking and scrabbling up mountain sides in Welsh winter this parka is light, traps wind however does not feel toasty more windtrapping, the hood is a good size and adjustable fit. I have a few Arcteryx jackets and I would say my Thorium Hooded AR is warmer than this Therme Parka, I dont think the 750 padding is enough on this Therme model where the style/cut hangs. The length is good, the zip is indeed as many reviews a pain to do up, especially in cold conditions with gloves. I'd read reviews on the zip and ignored it however the zip is actually tricky to do up at the bottom and actually unzips itself when you bend down to pick things up. When fully zipped up the neck area around the hood lacks room, I actually have a smaller size head and neck 15.5inch collar and when you turn your head your chin catches the thicker fold at the top zip area so again not practical for movement. Pockets are comfy but not lined but I like this style if they get wet they dry quicker. The sizing on this parka is way off too. I originally ordered a medium as I am a medium in most of this brands products, 32 W, 5ft9. The medium was like an XL, sack like hanging off the body and would render too baggy even with layers creating cold, so I reordered an S which is still big and I can wear my Thorium or pile fleece underneath which I will require in cold temperatures. The Parka is extremely waterproof being gore tex, this is expected so my advice would be forget the Therme and just buy a cheaper Gore Tex Arcteryx line and then base insulated layer. I really thought I was treating myself to a top notch Arcteryx product. I would best describe this parka for commuters in and out of cars or trains. I would not recommend this Parka for adverse cold conditions in the country side or mountains unless layered up. An expensive experience cheaper high quality alternatives out there. Shame as heard so much good stuff about the Therme in reality not the case.

I too would have to agree with both opinions. I had an older Therme and it was much more substantial and WARMER than this newest version. I do like the longer length and the revised hood but personally, this parka would only keep me comfortable to about 30 degrees, any colder than that and I'd be reaching for a warmer jacket.
