Question 1

Other Arc’teryx jackets like the beta family have an elastic cord that tightens around the head circumference, so the hood follows the movement of the head when looking to the left/right. Does this jacket have the same feature?

River, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello there, the Diode Insulated Jacket does include a head‑following hood adjustment, but it’s built a bit differently from what you see in the Beta family. The hood uses a precision adjustment system that tightens around the head to maintain warmth and keep your peripheral vision clear, and the hood use hidden Cohaesive™ cord locks to fine‑tune the fit without adding bulk. So while the mechanism isn’t identical to the Betas, the Diode’s insulated hood is designed to move with you and stay secure when you look left or right. We hope this helps!

Question 2

The Description and Features & Specs both indicate this jacket has hidden Cohaesive hem adjusters, but in an Answer to an earlier Question Seymour wrote it "does not include hem adjusters". Does or does not this jacket have hem adjusters?

Helio, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thank you for reaching out. Yes, as the product description says, the Diode Insulated Jacket has hem adjusters at the bottom of the jacket so you can adjust the fit. Thank you for catching this discrepancy; we will have this answer updated right away.

Question 3

How warm is this jacket? I read similar questions and answers. But your answers didn't help. How does it compare to Atom or similar jackets which use similar type/amount of insulation? I found in Van Atom wasn't warm enough to wear if temp goes below 0

Luna · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thank you for your question! We don’t assign specific temperature ratings because warmth can vary by individual and activity, but here’s how the Diode compares to the Atom Hoody. Both jackets use synthetic insulation and have similar amounts, but they’re designed for different activities. The Diode Insulated Jacket has slightly more insulation, Coreloft™ Continuous at 67.8 gsm compared to the Atom Hoody’s 60 gsm, and it also features a GORE-TEX ePE membrane. This makes the Diode Insulated Jacket fully waterproof and windproof, which will provide extra weather protection and overall warmth for cold, wet urban environments compared to the Atom Hoody. In contrast, the Atom Hoody is weather-resistant but not weatherproof, so it works best as a standalone in dry and mild conditions or as a midlayer when it’s wet. If you tend to feel cold easily, you might want to look at options with thicker insulation, such as the Atom SV Jacket with Coreloft™ 120 gsm, or consider a down jacket like the Cerium for extra warmth. Question 4

I am a true to size small and own a sabre and atom in a size small. I was wondering if it would fit more similar to the sabre? Also, does it have any cords and velcros to tighten the sleeves and bottom of the jacket?

Helio, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Bryan, thanks for reaching out. The Diode Insulated Jacket will fit differently than the Sabre Jacket. For reference, the chest width of the Diode Insulated Jacket in size M is 132.0 cm, while the Sabre Jacket in the same size measures 123.0 cm. This makes the Diode a roomier option compared to your Sabre. We recommend checking your body measurements against our sizing chart to find the best fit and ensure the jacket fits comfortably. The Diode Insulated Jacket features cuff gaskets that help seal out drafts and hem adjusters at the bottom of the jacket so you can adjust the fit. We hope this helps!

Question 5

How do the new Diode measurements in size medium compare to the Allium in size medium?

Dave · Accepted Answer

Hi Chad, thanks for your question! The Diode Insulated Jacket features a Relaxed fit while the Allium Insulated Jacket features a Regular fit. This difference in fit will make the Diode be larger with more room for layering.

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Jason, thanks for reaching out. The Diode Insulated Jacket is an excellent choice as a waterproof insulated jacket thoughtfully designed to keep you comfortable and protected in the city. Since many factors can affect warmth from person to person, we don’t assign specific temperature ratings to our garments.
