Strange Pear-Shaped Fit With Arms/Torso 1.5" Short

First, the positives: (1) With regard to warmth, the Cerium LT is instantly warm from the moment you put it on. (2) The Whiskey Jack color is rich, beautiful, and my favorite shade of grayed purple. (3) The hood fits (and stays on) the head flawlessly. (4) Weighs next to nothing, which is my preference for such pieces as I can wear them all day and stay very comfortable. (4) Top of zipper not sharp (unlike the Atom AR, which digs into the neck and chin, making it painful and unwearable). {For reference, I am 5'8", 130 lbs, 34B, 32-33" pant inseam, size 11/42 feet, size 8/9 gloves, long torso, and long arms. I have numerous Arc'teryx pieces and am a big supporter of this brand. While they do not do everything well, they do A LOT well, particularly from waist to neck. Depending upon the piece and the desired application, I wear everything from size small to size large in this brand.} Now for what needs improved in order for this jacket to actually be a truly functional piece (were these improvements implemented, I would definitely buy more of this jacket and recommend it to everyone that I know): (1) Unfortunately, sizing is awkward, confusing, and frustrating. The medium size works best for me in the Cerium, as it does not bind in the shoulders or pinch under the arms, while still allowing a merino base-layer and/or vest underneath, and a rain or snow shell over-top. The arms on the Cerium are a good 1.5" too short. Even sitting here typing at my desk I am annoyed by this. The length only works if you do not plan to move at all. I do not have abnormally long arms for someone of my height; merely average. The length of the arms on this jacket look ridiculous on me, especially if I extend my arms even a little; a bit like my jacket shrunk or I am wearing a teenager's size 16 version of adult gear. The torso is also too short (especially in the back) by at least 2". This is the biggest problem with the jacket. (2) The fit is very strange and pear-shaped around the middle of the torso, with (as usual for Arc'teryx pieces) no way to cinch in or adjust the fit around the mid-section. The combination of this garment being too short in both arms and torso, combined with the strange pear-shaped situation, makes for a very unattractive fit on those of us who have a long, slim, athletic build. In my opinion, the absolutely ideal length of torso and arms would be the Nuclei (in size medium, though it is much too big around the mid-section, with once again no option for adjusting the size/width of the torso). I had high hopes for the Cerium, because I desperately need a light-weight down jacket of this sort, but the fit and arm length issues in particular make me feel irritated (despite the warmth and coziness it provides) every time I put it on. I am keeping this jacket for three reasons: (1) The instant warmth factor. (2) The Whiskey Jack color. (3) The reality that I cannot seem to find anything else that is similar enough by any other brands, that will actually fit under my REI rain shell (which has tapered arms and wrists). Being cold is painful, and I prefer to avoid it as comfortably as possible. However, I also expect beautiful, streamlined, pieces, offering flattering feminine cuts for my body type. Alas, the Cerium does not currently fit the bill. However, if these issues I have outlined above were addressed and improved, I would be the first to sing the praises of a revised version.

You can see the down

I bought this a few weeks ago. Now that it’s started to rain, you can see all the dark feather down through the jacket. I’m quite disappointed this was overlooked in the design process. My advice is to choose a dark coloured jacket so that this does not happen to you.

Customer Support
Hi there, Thank you for reaching out to Arc'teryx with your feedback on the Cerium LT Hoody. We're sorry to hear about the fabric issues you are experiencing with your Cerium LT Hoody. The Cerium LT Hoody will use incredibly minimal fabrics, and depending on the color, the down feathers can definitely show through the product. Also, it is not recommended to wear down products as stand-alones in wet weather as this can adversely affect the down unless those down products use a waterproof Gore-Tex face fabric. We recommend using your Cerium LT hoody in conjunction with a Gore-Tex shell if you will be in wet weather. Also, as the jacket appears to have been exposed to moisture, we recommend using our Down Wash Instructions right away to properly care for your product: https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/help/product-care?intcmp=product-care If this is the case though and you believe this is a manufacturing issue, please be sure to fill out a Product Service Request Form. We would be happy to look at your case: https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/help/product-service/service-request/ If you have any additional comments or concerns, please feel free to contact our Customer Service Department at 1-866-458-2473 (available Monday-Friday 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM PST), one of our representatives would be glad to chat with you. All the best

Hi Li Yu, Thanks for reaching out. We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with your Cerium LT Hoody, but our Aftersales Team is here to help. Some down leakage is normal as the garment wears over time and the hard portion of the feather works its way out. If you feel that this is occurring more regularly and is not normal we would encourage you to complete a Product Service Request Form through the link below. https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/help/product-service?intcmp=product-service As always Our Customer Support Team is here to help with any further questions you may have.

Almost perfect!

I bought my Cerium LT in Lampyre from the Outlet and received it 3 days ago. I love this colour so much and I also love wearing this hoody; it is super cozy and light. I would have given it 5 stars except that many of the feathers inside the hoody are brown and as a result of this, they show through the face fabric making the jacket appear mottled/dirty. I am so glad that Arc'teryx uses responsibly sourced down; this is one of the reasons I felt comfortable purchasing this product. I just wish that, at least for the lighter colours, extra care would be taken to ensure that white feathers only (or predominantly) were selected. The colour of this hoody is awesome, but I feel like it's spoiled a bit by the dark feathers showing through. Given how expensive these hoodies are, this doesn't seem like something that should be an issue. I've decided to keep my Cerium because I love the colour that much, but I really hope that the design team can find a way to address this concern going forward.

Rips super easily

I bought this jacket as a treat to myself last Christmas as a needed a lightweight insulated down layer for the long shoulder seasons in the Canadian arctic and backpacking trips. It is lighweight and packs down well but you can only use it if you plan on just sitting in it or doing commuting. I have only used it for some light activity and usually under a shell, despite this I still have several large rips that shed feathers that I've had to tape up. Severally disappointed as I love all of my other Arc'teryx gear.

Hi there, Thank you for leaving your feedback on the Cerium LT Hoody. We're sorry to hear about the durability issues you have encountered with your Cerium LT Hoody. As it has been designed as a highly technical, incredibly light mid-layer hoody, it may not suit your general-purpose needs. We would recommend the Thorium AR for a more all-around, general-purpose down hoody. None the less, we regret the experience you have had and recommend filling out a Product Service Request Form. We would love to help where we can: https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/help/product-service/service-request/ If you have any additional comments or concerns, please feel free to contact our Customer Service Department at 1-866-458-2473 (available Monday-Friday 9:00 AM- 4:00 PM PST), and one of our representatives would be glad to chat with you. Arc'teryx- The lack of durability of the Cerium LT Hoody seems to be a noted theme across retailers (this site, REI, Backcountry, etc). Given the volume of complaints specific to the fabric & leaking feathers is this covered in the manufacturer's limited warranty? I have owned a dozen or so Arcteryx' jackets and have come to trust the quality, but the reviews for Cerium LT gives me serious pause to add this to my collection

It cannot be published to the website, but.. — I bought this jacket thinking it could be worn as a mid layer and standalone. The feathers show through because the color is too translucent. It makes the jacket look discolored. For this reason I would not recommend buying this jacket for anything else but a mid layer in the light colors.

Cozy & Warm, but needs better sizing

As a 5ft11 female with an athletic build, I have to wear a Men’s S in order to fit my arms. I’d love to see more women’s tall jackets that fit those of us with longer torso’s and arms. Aside from fit, this jacket is a perfect layer to throw under my shell, and comfortable wearing on its own for added warmth on dry days.

Got it when Sporting Life had it onsale during Lockdown. Super light and warm, nice cut on the waist. Usually wear S for Arc'teryx dress and sweaters, need M for this jacket, S still fits but won't be enough room for sweaters. As some of the reviews metioned, has down feathers come out, yes, I do see some tinny feathers flying, but not a lot.

Awesome winter staple piece

I bought this during the Labor Day sale, and it has been my go-to jacket since. I live near Anchorage, AK, and we have lots of cool, damp weather 35-50 F. So far it has been good to wear with just a sweater, but as it gets colder, I may need a shell jacket to go over it. I haven’t had any feathers come out, fingers crossed. Also I am in love with the color, I picked Whiskey Jack and it is the richest, darkest plum. I do think it runs a little small, I had to size up to a large

Disappointed

I bought this jacket a week ago and I’ve worn it just to and from work. The down is already coming out of the seams and there is a small hole in the sleeve. I had been researching jackets for about a month and finally purchased this one. Really disappointed because of the price. Not worth the investment because it has started coming apart

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hello There, Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience with the current Cerium LT Hoody. The Cerium LT, as with all new down products will have some initial down loss. If there are any quills coming through, be sure to pull the feathers back in the way they came and massage the point of exit, as plucking feathers from the garment will result in holes forming. The Cerium LT is also an incredibly minimal mid-layer piece, and as such uses an incredibly minimal face fabric. For something with a more robust face fabric, we recommend the Thorium AR Hoody. If you have any additional comments or concerns, please be sure to give our Customer Support Line a call. We'd love to chat. All the best.

Shed too many feathers

I bought my jacket a couple of years ago, so maybe newer versions are better, but my jacket shed too many feathers for my liking. The feathers would often shed on the inside of the jacket, so if I wore a dark jumper underneath it would pick up the fluff. In my opinion, this jacket doesn't live up to the synthetic insulated jackets which are brilliant - I'll stick to the Atom and Proton and won't bother replacing the Cerium.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Loved this jacket... for two weeks

I loved this jacket like a child. I wore it for about two weeks around the city during quarantine... Somehow, the material is so delicate that it developed a gaping three inch rip on the seam near the zipper in the bottom front. I previously had a different jacket from a different brand for 13 years of hard camping wear and tear and NOTHING like this hole ever happened. I am so sick to my stomach over the hassle I endured to get this jacket delivered, the money I spent on it... and now a HUGE hole? I love Arcteryx as a brand but please, fix your materials...

Hi there, Thank you for reaching out, we are sorry to hear about your experience with your jacket. The Cerium series provides the lightweight and packable performance desired by many alpine and outdoor enthusiasts. The trade-off for lightweight materials is that if this piece is being worn without a shell, extra caution needs to be taken. Arc'teryx recognizes that not everyone needs minimalist and ultralight outdoor products, which is where the more robust Thorium AR may be more suited to your use. As always, our After-Sales team is here to help, please complete a product service request and one of our team members will be happy to help address the rip on your jacket.

For a $500 jacket, the zippers are really, really cheap. My zipper has broken twice. I shipped it back for repair the first time, and that took months of being without a jacket. I now have a useless $500 jacket again. They are light and lovely but not worth the money and aggravation.

This jacket is my go to whenever it is cold out. I love the warmth it gives and the barely there lightness and fit. Hello Meghan, Thank you for reaching out with your feedback. The Cerium LT Hoody in both men and women's uses the incredibly minimal Arato 10 face fabric and 850 fill European white goose down. Because all down products will lose down, regardless of brand, we overfill our down products to compensate for this loss. During the initial weeks of use is when down leakage will occur most, and we encourage you to pull the quills back in through the back and massage the areas where leakage occurred. If you are experiencing an excessive amount of leakage in the following weeks (through seams and fabric), we welcome you to fill out the Product Service Request form – we’d be happy to see what we can do with your case. https://www.arcteryx.com/ca/en/help/product-service If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact our Customer Service Department at 1-866-458-2473 (available Monday-Friday 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM PST), and one of our representatives would be glad to chat with you. Ripped in 5 days

This was a splurge for me, and I fully intended to wear it for 15 years. During the five days that I owned this jacket, it was the best thing ever. It was incredibly warm, a beautiful deep purple color with cool undertones, and fit perfectly. It may be my favorite jacket I’ve ever had. I wore it for walks around my suburban neighborhood and looked forward to the adventures I’d take it on in the forest and mountains. Unfortunately our time together was cut short when, after just 5 days, I put it on only to notice a one inch vertical tear in the torso. Feathers were coming out, and I could not recall bumping up or against anything with enough force to cause the rip. I took it back to REI and returned it. I almost cried during that process. There were no more in my size to do an exchange, and besides, I was worried how we would adventure together if it couldn’t even survive a walk on an open suburban street. I am so, so, so disappointed. This was my first arcteryx purchase, and it will likely be my last. I buy gear to be used, not just to look nice in something expensive. I went to Patagonia and bought a similar coat that’s not as warm and doesn’t fit my body like this one did. I’m not in love with my new jacket, but I’m hoping it will be an ok rebound relationship. Arcteryx, you broke my heart.

Crazy warm

Love at first try-on. I tried several other brands of lightweight puffy jackets and they were too baggy around the middle. This one is just right. Measurements are chest: 32, waist: 25, hip: 36 and the XS fit fits perfectly over a base layer and sweater. Insanely warm.

Great technical layer

My new favourite. Had new ski wear for Christmas and after some research online and great service at my local Escape Route retailer, I chose the Cerium LT. I love the colour - Whisky Jack - and the weight of the jacket. Given its technical ability I don't have to worry about the hood getting wet under my ski jacket and it's really cosy and warm.

DO NOT buy - extreme down shedding

I really, really wanted to love this jacket. After having some fashion forward light down jackets, I decided to jump the gun on the Cerium for its fill power and more casual aesthetic. I can safely say this is the WORST of any light down jacket I've owned (high and lower end). In the short time I have had this, I have seen more down shedding than I have in other similar jackets over 2-3 year period. Down continuously comes out of the seams so even though Arcteryx markets this as 850 down fill, you're left with substantially less due to shedding. The pictures attached speak for itself. In this instance after trying to pull the feathers back in from inside the jacket and failing, I brushed it to downwards only to see a chunk of the filling come out. We have purchased Arcteryx for years (alpha shells and Veilance for men's) and have never had an issue until now. Quality control has clearly gone down or is no longer disregarded. I have never had this happen and am absolutely disappointed with this product and would be very hesitant to purchase another Arcteryx, particularly any down associated product.

Customer Service
Hi There, Thank you for reaching out and making us aware of the issue. We pride ourselves on our design and manufacturing process, and because all down products will lose down initially, we will overfill our down products which results in down loss. We recommend trying to massage down back into the garment, as plucking it will exacerbate the existing hole, resulting in a greater loss of down. If you feel this is a warranty issue, we invite you to fill out a product service form found here https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/help/product-service/service-request/, so we can better assist you. If you have any other questions, please give us a call at 1-866-458-2473. All the best

sweet puffy

Awesome puffy. Super comfy and lightweight. Great for ski touring and basically anything in the backcountry! Stuff sack is convenient and makes it easy to stuff away into your pack. Highly recommend!! I usually wear XS, got a small as a gift and its a little big, but allows extra room for layers underneath.

Very cosy

I had been wanting to buy one of these for a while, and finally convinced myself that the price was justifiable. I’ve been happy with my new Cerium so far (for warmth and fit); though there was some immediate shedding that is disappointing, as is the size of the zipper pull which I see as being a struggle to use with gloves on. Overall a good jacket but could do with one or two issues being addressed

Will not last long...

I absolute love this jacket because it is really warm, fit me perfectly, lightweight and also packable. However, I'm sad that it might not last long. I purchased this jacket around two-three weeks ago and has only been able to wear pretty much 4 times before I first noticed down coming out in the underarm area. I was surprised but I didn't care much but I noticed more and more down comes out in different areas both the inside and outside, and i'm disappointed. This jacket is not tight for me, it has always been hung because I didn't want anything to scratch it. I know at one point the down will come out, but I didn't expect it to be this early, considering the price of this piece:(
