Sylan GTX Schuh Herren

I've bought the shoe for daily walking, I had foot surgery and the rounded sole helps me to keep pressure off my heels and toes.

I bought these Winter 2024. They run snug, so slightly smaller than Nike normal fitment by 1/4 size. Probably Hoka fit size. I went out on a grim Welsh day in the rain and wind. You will not get a more supportive shoe IMHO. I’ve got Brooks, Hoka and Innov8 trail runners, and the grip sets these apart. Outstanding job Arc’teryx 😁

I already owned Konseal FL 2 Leather GTX and my impression remains excellent in terms of support on all types of terrain. The Sylan is different because it is a trail shoe. My heel systematically escapes from the shoe even when tightening the laces as much as possible. I think the warped shape of the sole is the cause of this inconvenience.

Probably the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned. I have only walked in them at this point but it was -20c with snow and the grip the shoes provided was amazing!

Pretty disappointed as I love the Norvan LD3 GTX. These not so much because there's a clear lack of ankle support. Ordered the same size 10 and both my heels are lifting and moving around. Not what you'd expect of a trail running shoe

Varies slightly from your normal size (we've had both issues men's seem to run slightly small, women's slightly large) but GREAT shoes for the PNW or similar climate - comfortable, gortex, extra rubber and FEATHER weight. Include a special little pocket for your tied laces, to keep them dry/out of the way. Though these shoes are meant for trail running, they work well for everyday...especially in our wet climate. Edgy style and functional. Say good bye to your rubber boots?! Both male and female in our house share the love for these shoes.

Very impressed (tho not surprised) at the apparent quality and look of these shoes. Very supportive and comfortable during first couple lite runs. Time will tell how they hold up in weather and longer use but initial impression is excellent product!

This has been my go to travel shoe. The one shoe used for multiple activities. Most definitely has kept my feet dry!

I hesitated for a long while before I bought these- reading that the stitching in the heel was an irritant, the shoe was narrow in the toebox ( I have 101 mm wide in a size uk 9) and that the sole induced ankle-roll. None of this was true for me. Looking at all my other arcteryx footwear, they have been stitching in the heel for years, never felt it!. The platform is ample and if you are used to rough ground, you will no more likely roll in these than a pair of speedgoats. The last is normal, definitely not narrow- and i actually much prefer the less wide fit (toebox) of some, that gives zero feedback and way too much slop, should you go off the path for a bit of easy scrambling. These are perfect for me. As with any goretex shoe, they are too sweaty for me above 10-12oC, otherwise, they are super comfy and breath very well - I wear with both the ultra-thin and midweight arcteryx socks. The sizing is accurate, but the give is less than some, so I cannot swap the insoles for my superfeet- although this so far has not affected my comfort. Maybe it's been a placebo all these years! Over the past month they have performed really well, for excursions up to about 20 miles. They are stiff enough that I will be wearing these on bigger winter mountain days with a pair of snowspikes, or even my petzl hybrids. The ankle gusset-cuff thing does nothing to deter debris coming in, I really do not know it's design intention- so I wear with a mini-gaiter, just like i do with every trail shoe anyway.

Amazing comfort combined with excellent structure! Difficult to find any imperfection, hope they will take me through the years. As concerning the size, I have reiterated the Norval LD, no big difference. Simply beautiful for walking.

Lifesaving. On the tail end of a ~10 day hiking/climbing trip traversing Washington. Wore them through multiple 3rd/4th class hikes and down 15+ rappels. These shoes have been great for when a slip costs a life. Buying another pair.

Awesome looking shoe, loved the cushioning and rocker too. Unfortunately had to return the shoe because I couldn't get my heel locked down.

Sturdy, supportive, and comfortable. Arrived as expected, and functions as hoped for.

I own Aerios FL 2 Mid GTX size 12.5 US shoes. They were noticeably more comfortable with better fit than previous hiking shoes. I bought them for a trip to Costa Rica. They had a little heel lift, ample toe room and zero toe jam so I figured I had probably gotten half size too big. So, I tried men’s size 12 Sylan GTX to see how they felt. The toe box was very cramped even though there was no toe jam and probably about 3/8” from toe tip to contact with shoe. I ran around inside the house and could feel the very cushioned rocker effect. I knew I wanted that but the constricted toe box was too painful so I returned intending to try next size up after trip to China. I now have both GTX and non-GTX Sylan sz 12.5 US from an online store. The GTX version upper is noticeably stiffer which makes it feel (uncomfortably) tighter and also feels like it has both more cushion and rocker induced propulsion. The non-GTX lacks the tabs at heel and toe to assist getting the shoe on, and gains a tight fitting sock like tongue liner that wraps around the ankle extending about 3/4” further up the ankle than the GTX. There’s also a different feel to the joint of materials above the toes with the non-GTX having a more noticeable ridge. Both shoes are still tight in the toe box compared to the Aerios and I am wearing them around the house to decide. If you are looking for a more cushioned shoe that propels you forward this might be it. As for trail running, I have not tried yet but imagine these to absorb the rocks better and reduce stability due to the higher platform height and more rounded periphery of the sole. Basically built for straight ahead speed and comfort.

Did some hiking and bouldering at Zion National Park with my new GTX shoes and they performed perfectly.

I've had the Sylan GTX for around 2 months now and I couldn't be happier with them. I have about 50 miles on them so far and they seem to be getting better with each run. They feel remarkably supportive and with an aggressive profile, they handle variable terrain with ease. The shoes have a bit of a high platform and very pronounced rocker which is has been great for performance but takes a bit of time to get used to. Out of the box, they'll feel pretty ridged but after a couple miles they'll ease up to the perfect fit. The GTX model has been nice far for wet, muddy days and I haven't had much issue with moisture build up in the shoe with it being Gore-Tex. I did notice that the heel felt a bit shallow and I was getting a lot of slippage but once I laced the shoes up to the top hole, it seemed to combat that issue. I would say on future models however, this would be worth looking into. Overall, I've been super stoked about the Sylan GTX and couldn't be happier with how they've performed. For what it's worth, my pace has improved since wearing these... could just be mental... could be the shoes.... could be that I've eaten way less ice cream lately... who can say really? Take it as you will. Great shoes and I'd highly recommend them.

I tried the size 12 first before bumping it up to size 13. The material is very hard and a bit uncomfortable compared to the non-GTX Sylan, which fits like a glove. Note that the shoe tongue is also designed differently. Overall, the fit of the non-GTX Sylan and the GTX Sylan is very different. Make sure you try both before buying.

Bought these shoes 2 weeks ago Comfy but odd sensation when stood as you rock back in them due to quite significant cut away on heel sole - took some getting used to Really disappointed in the finish though The goretex outer over the toe box isn’t smooth - it’s almost not affixed properly to the inner liner - as such the aesthetic of the shoe is poor - they look old even though brand new I did report this to artery’s via customer services - not interested to be honest - quite rude reply frankly, clearly the customer isn’t always right My wife has a pair in black and the toe is smooth so clearly a defect I wish I’d sent them back as it how just annoys me every time I put them on I think there’s better mountain runners for less money

The Sylan GTX shoe is decent but specialized in need. The Midsole rocker provides stability for joggers and midsole walkers. During walks, the rocker feels awkward compared to other rocker shoes such as the Hokas and the New Balances. A previous review mentioned the lowered heel and I would like to highlight this as well. The transition from heel strike to midsole is not the smoothest. I feel that my arch is supported neutrally at the cost of the lowered design and less cushioning. This shoe is not for those who have wide feet and those who have hyperhidrosis. The shoe is not breathable

These were my first pair of Arc'teryx trail running shoes and I promise you it's worth going for the gore-tex. Bought the yellow and grey ones. I call them my lemon pepper steppas. Bought them a half-size smaller then usually because they were the last of that style and my feet have had no issues at all. Broke them in along the "7 Falls Trail to Bear Canyon" out in Tucson AZ. The inner ankle sock design took me off guard at first but I quickly grew to appreciate the comfy support since these do leave your ankle slightly exposed. Crossed about 8 rivers and socks stayed dry as long as you keep water out of the top of them (duh).

Played my first round of golf in them. My new go to!

It's an almost perfect shoe with one deal breaker. I love the style, I love the cusion, the fit is perfect, but the heel.. it always slips no matter walking or running, I tried to break-in the shoe in by running a mile and tweaking the sole but was of no avail. I had 10 different hiking shoes in my life and this is the first time I had this problem.
