Good fit, function but wetted out immediately

Good fit, nice function, but wetted out after 10 wears due to new DWR finish. My old Alpha SV lasted years before this occurred. Customer Service was unfortunately not helpful saying this wasn’t a product issue, not sure the technicality on this point, but after 20 yrs of being an AcrTeryx devotee will be moving on to other brands now.

Un très bon remplacement de mon beta light. Le seul bémol, le manteau semble un peu " oversized", manche vraiment longue et capuchon un peu trop retombant sur le front. Mais dans l'ensemble très satisfait après 2 mois d'utilisation !

Nice shell for the right person

Purchased the beta AR stormhood as well as the beta lightweight. I ended up returning the AR because of the fit. I think this piece is probably better for layering and more harsh conditions but it was more of a boxy fit being the regular fit and I really liked the fit of the beta lightweight. The lightweight was a little more slim and looked like it was tailored to my body. I definitely think this model is better than the drop hood version and I think for the right person this jacket would work great but it wasn’t for me. Ended up returning the AR and keeping the lightweight

Designed for cut and fashion over function

I bought this at Christmas 2 years ago and have worn it 20 times. I find the fit is pretty slim in the belly and chest. I have small to no belly and big chest. But the clincher is the pockets. At diaphragm height the coat is uncomfortable if you have anything in there. The material is excellent though. I think I'm going to sell it.

Recently, I acquired the heritage BETA AR stormhood and have been thoroughly impressed with its performance. During a recent holiday, it proved to be highly packable, fitting easily into a small shoulder bag, and provided welcome warmth when the temperature dropped. However, it was during a recent mountain excursion that the jacket truly demonstrated its exceptional qualities. Despite being subjected to strong winds and heavy rain, which are common challenges in Scotland, the jacket's color remained vibrant and it effectively deflected the windchill and kept me dry. As someone who has owned several jackets, I can confidently say that this is the first garment that has provided such remarkable protection from the elements. Since acquiring my Atom LT in December, I have consistently recommended this jacket to others.

Tears after minor use

Was super excited to buy this jacket after hearing so many positive things about Arc’teryx shells. Unfortunately, after a few days snowboarding some groomed runs, I’ve already noticed several tears on the front. My old snowboarding jacket has 5+ years of use on it with no issues, so this was extremely disappointing to me. I contacted customer service and they offered to either send me some tape, or I could send it in for patch repair, but my confidence in the durability of this jacket is gone, and I can’t see myself recommending it to others after my experience with it.

Ripped after less then 2 months

I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas as he needed a multi-purpose waterproof jacket. He had a minor fall while skiing but something happened and the pressure of his phone on the material from inside the pocket caused it to split/ rip. The jacket had only been worn a handful of times at this point but apparently all Arcteryx can do is send us a patch (and make rude/condescending/misogynistic comments and accusations over the phone). The rip falls under general wear and tear and can only be deemed a manufacturing issue if it is at the seam (isn't the material manufactured? can material not be faulty?). After spending almost 1000$ on a jacket my boyfriend expected to have for a long time, I am disappointed in the quality and would highly advise people do not purchase this jacket (or any others....).

Excellent quality.

I am 5'9" on a good day, and 170 lbs. athletic build. I bought a medium. I will say that if I was buying this for fashion over function I would have gone with a Small, and would probably had plenty of room. I don't look /feel great in things that are even slightly big on me. but I bought this with the intention of layering it. I bought a medium, and with no layers underneath, it does feel big on me. My wife says the length and cut are perfect. I havent had a lot of time in the extremes with it yet. Just some rain and wind, but I look forward to using this for many adventures. it is a top notch jacket.

Amazing Coat you get what you pay for

Ok long storey short I bought my first Beta AR Gortex jacket 15 years ago and it was time to replace it with a new one. The old one still worked fine however I wore it a lot and it never failed to keep me warm or dry. I gave it to a homeless man and I expect he will be the talk of the town and wear it for many years to come. The new jacket is awesome and I expect the next 15 years will be the same as the old one.

Poor glue quality

The jacket itself is ok. The fabric too, but Arcteryx used very poor glue quality to glue the seams. Therefor the seams dissolve after years and the jacket falls apart. Also the zippers dissolve. They also do not repair the jacket after years, because "The lifetime guarantee of the jacket does not mean the lifetime of the owner". But they offer to recycle your jacket (probalby reuse the material for their resale program and sell it again) and offer a 20% off your next purchase. The Pro-Shell Material would have lastet for several more years.

Rip - I have just ripped my Gore-Tex pro mountain rescue jacket (not Arcteryx). I guess any brand can rip/tear possibly how we describe the jacket to be indestructible is not true across the brands, although very strong if certain pressure, angle, object area can cause the jackets do rip regardless of brand,. Even breathability is dependent on how much you are sweating possible slow down if you want to maintain a certain level of breathability.

Didnt last 100 days

Decided to splurge and buy myself this jacket 3 months ago. Within less then 100 days, I am only able to zip 3/4 of the jacket as the zipper and the material behind it is no longer aligned and prevents the zipper from going all the way up. Having paid a premium price, I didnt expect such poor craftmanship or quality control. Had to open a Product Service Request so lets see if paying for a premium brand gets you better customer service. Really wanted to love the jacket and the brand, but it aint starting well.

Bad durability

I bought this jacket 6 months ago and wore it 3 times while skiing and the fit is nice but the durability is not good it has a hole and it’s just falling apart from my first wear

Fit is not for me

I wish this jacket would work. Its the fit that doesn't work. I love the brand, enjoy the quality and have had many in the past. I wish there was a fit for the male in his 50's that isn't a 34 inch waist or less. I find most if not all shell jackets are too narrow in the mid section. I get it if the brand is making garmets for those who have that "Fit" look and are narrow waisted. I'm just not that body type. I have the Rush pants from years back and in a large the waist and hips are too narrow. Again an XL wont work as they're too big. Oh well will have to try another brand .

Goodbye drop hood!

I've had this since September and it's been my favourite jacket so far. Having had a Beta SL hybrid in the past and going to this has been an amazing transition. First real use of the gore-tex pro was a rainstorm when traveling to Montreal and it's saved me ever since on bike rides in Vancouver to work. I've been waiting for this to come out as I'm not a fan of the fit and feel of the drop hood's collar on the classic Beta AR. I got the heritage colour to maintain visibility on bike rides, hikes and snowboarding for the season. But all the colours rock and heavily recommend if you're looking for that gore-tex pro 3 layer piece to round out your kit.

Great medium duty jacket

Amazing jacket, fit and function are perfect for light cold and / or rain. Wore it hiking in Tahoe this weekend at about 30-40 deg and blocked wind, rain, snow, and vented open when hot. Looks great out, functions great on the trail. It would be the wrong tool for skiing or trail running though...

Amazing all round jacket - Skiing, Hiking and City

I bought this jacket originally for hiking over the summer incase of storms. However I have found it so practical I use it pretty much whenever it rains. It is lightweight, yet Gore-Tex pro. It has a big enough hood to have a helmet on underneath and I preferred it to the standard Beta AR as I like the hood more. The pit zips are also great for when you get too hot, yet want to keep dry. I have also used this jacket for Skiing and found the Gore-Tex pro to work perfectly - very water repellent. I paired it with a proton heavyweight to ski in for anyone wondering.

Had to replace initially but its the best

I recently purchased the Arc'teryx jacket, and despite a minor hiccup with the initial order's DWR (Durable Water Repellent) issue, the outstanding customer service promptly addressed the issue and facilitated a hassle-free exchange. Awesome Jacket!

Great hardshell jacket that fits great and works well together with my Atom SL and LT. I have the tendency to overheat very fast so the zips for venting help a lot for dumping heat. I highly recommend it for spending time outdoors hiking and it also works well for commuting with the bike during the winter

I bought this around 2 months ago, its been a key part of my kit on all my hikes. I've had other brands high end waterproofs, I can honestly say this is head and shoulders above the others. All the details, material and even the zips are just brilliant. Possibly the best Arcteryx jacket I've had

Excellent All Around Shell Designed To Be Used

I bought this two years ago. Wanted a year round shell that was ideal for layering. Took a chance and could not be more satisfied. I live in western Colorado and this jacket performs exceptionally for fall, winter and spring outings. Summer, it takes a little more room than desired but always thankful when an afternoon storm rolls through up high. Excellent wind protection and durability. A tree jumped in front of me last season and lead with a short broken limb. This jacket took the full force of impact and did not puncture even though deep bruising occurred.
