My go-to lightweight hiking and MTB shell jacket. Great fit with longer coverage that covers your butt, the cinches for the waist and hood are awesome to keep everything from moving around too much. It packs down small into a Norvan running vest or MTB hip pack. I am generally get a women's medium in outerwear from Arc'teryx, but ended up going with a large this time and I love the long fit and relaxed look with space to layer with a puffy. Sizing up, this jacket covers halfway down my thigh and is easy to move in. I've used this for pouring rain hikes and it works as expected for a hard shell from Arc'teryx: protective of outside wet, breathable enough for high output.

Superb all rounder, great fit!

It took me ages to decide to buy this jacket, it sold out many times during my deliberations. I finally committed to the purchase. I needed a reliable waterproof jacket which wasn’t form fitting, without the usual female form fitting seams hugging the waist. It’s really comfortable with just a t-shirt or with mid layers etc. The feature I love the most is the adjustable Velcro on the wrists. The pockets are practical, adjustable drawcords in all the rights places. I won’t be using this with a helmet so I found the hood size good. I really appreciate it being PFC free too.

Functional but not pretty

I bought the Beta jacket in "Fortune". Navy onscreen it turned out to be a disappointing dark grey. I made do because I'd already returned the onscreen red that turned out to be brown. I don't know why Arcteryx cannot get onscreen colours right. So many other websites manage it but if that's too big of an ask, could we please get descriptions of the colours ordinary humans can understand, i.e. fortune = dark grey. I'd also really appreciate some bright, warm colours.

I bought this jacket to wear while walking the 500 mile Camino de Santiago. It rained for about a week toward the end of the trip. This jacket was soaking wet inside and out the entire time. I just went for a 50 minute walk in the light rain right here at home and, once again, it’s soaking wet inside and out. When I ask Arc’teryx to explain and either give me a real waterproof jacket or take the jacket back and give me a refund, they just said no. Shame on them.

With that being said, like all garments, it requires a wash after use. We recommend washing and reapplying DWR on your jacket to reactivate the waterproofing. If your garment looks or feels dirty or is no longer beading water, give it a wash. With Heavy use (e.g. heavy activity) – wash every 5 to 8 days of use. With Light use (e.g. day to day) – wash every 10 to 20 days of use. Waterproofing failed, poor quality

As with other reviewers, sadly I’ve found that the waterproofing on this jacket has failed completely in some areas after 3 years of light use. I’ve also purchased the branded gore tex wash and re-proofing spray which has not helped in the areas where the original proofing has failed — the main one being the hood. This means in light rain the hood now completely soaks through in about 10 minutes, leaving me with wet hair and a wet face. Not ideal for the price as it’s now a totally useless jacket!

A great shell

This is now my second season with this jacket. The goretex on it has not failed my yet, and I've taken it for some pretty soggy spring skiing rainy sleety expeditions. I love the length of it, the hood size, the big pockets, the color, and how light it is. I know people have been complaining about it being too big, but I like the extra space for layers in the winter. My only wish for this jacket is that it had pit vents

This is the best waterproof I have owned over multiple decades. I can be outaide all day in torrential rain, hillwalking and remain totally dry and also sweat does not build up. Brilliant.

J'ai acheté ce manteau pour faire de la randonnée en montagne, de la marche en ville et du vélos. Super bien conçu, polyvalent, souple, offrant une liberté de mouvement (très très apprécié) et il est solide ! Je suis plus que satisfaite.

Mit der Vielseitigkeit der Beta kannst du die unterschiedlichsten Abenteuer angehen. Die Jacke aus strapazierfähigem 80D Obermaterial mit leichter, robuster und PFC-freier Membran aus GORE‑TEX ePE („expanded polyethylene“) bietet wasser- und winddichten sowie atmungsaktiven Schutz und hat eine reduzierte Kohlenstoffbilanz. Das C-KNIT-Futter sorgt für Komfort. Die dünne StormHood-Kapuze lässt sich für den gewünschten Schutz und ein uneingeschränktes Sichtfeld verstellen. Die anatomisch vorgeformte Passform bietet Bewegungsfreiheit, während der RECCO-Reflektor bei der Ortung in Notsituationen hilft.
b>Was aktualisiert wurde: Neu mit RECCO-Reflektor und einem neuem, strapazierfähigem und leichtem GORE-TEX ePE Material, das eine geringere Kohlenstoffbilanz vorweist und über ein strapazierfähiges und leichtes 80D Obermaterial verfügt.
