The best Arc'teryx shoe. Period.

I can't say enough about the Konseal shoes! Hands down, they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. The moment you slip them on, you can feel the difference. Whether you're walking around, running errands, or working a long shift on your feet all day, these shoes provide unmatched support and comfort. Not only are they incredibly comfortable, but they are also highly durable. I've owned four pairs now, and each one has held up beautifully over time, even with daily use. The materials are built to last, and the craftsmanship is top-notch. They're perfect for any occasion, whether you're at work, out for a casual outing, or even dressing up a bit. Another highlight is how versatile they are. They go with almost anything in my wardrobe, and I get compliments on them all the time. From their sleek, stylish design to the way they perform, the Konseal shoes have quickly become my go-to pair for any activity. If you're looking for shoes that combine comfort, durability, style, and versatility, look no further than Konseal. They truly are the best shoes out there.

Very poor material construction - not worth it

This is a good looking shoe when I comes out the box... but they are incredibly poorly made and have fallen apart in 5 days! After very light use over 30 - 40 miles walking in a dry European city over 5 days, the overlays and the glue around the toe box discoloured orange and the overlays have started to peel away. Not only that, but the material of the upper has become worn like a cheap acrylic jumper at the bend point. The synthetic upper has degraded so badly that it looks fluffy. In addition to that the internal bonded structure of the shoe has fallen apart as well - coincidently also at the bend point. this means that they are really uncomfortable to wear because there's a lose bit of materials that rubs. One last thing, there were 3 fingerprints embedded in the foam midsole - not the best sign of high quality production! All in all I'm not sure I can recommend this shoe when La Sportive, Salomon and Keen make much better products for the same price.

Does everything comfortably.

A lightweight shoe that hikes, scrambles, and climbs comfortably. Probably wouldn't want to do any super long heavy hikes in it as it isn't the most supportive. It also serves as a great street shoe, the red is not too bright and looks great. Break-in took about 2 days. The size is pretty narrow, but feels close to true-to-size and I went down a size.

Good, but not durable

These are great shoes, but they wore completely out in ten months, and Arc’teryx won’t warranty them. I like the shoe, but disappointed in the durability. If you’re a hiker who likes longer days or not just urban exploration, it might not suit your needs.

Torngat mountains approved!

I’m manager at a Basecamp, had these on my feet non-stop for 2 months now and easily punching out 20k steps or more over rocky, varied terrain. THEY ARE AWESOME!!! Took about 3 days to break, but after that they’re perfect, I have them in the red and they’re vibrant, but not obnoxious. Size is bang on, if you’re considering them as technical shoes, just buy them, you won’t regret

Perfect all rounder for trails/town

Second pair of these after almost 3 years of continuous use. Bought a 3rd as spare in case they ever stop making them. Wear them every day to walk the dog on easy trails. Unless its pouring down, when I would retreat to a pair of boots, then I can wear these in all conditions. I have pretty flat and wide feet, wear a UK9 normally and a 9 fit me just fine.

Super versatile

1st pair from Arcteryx. I bought them online without trying them on, and immediately took them on a 10 day trip around town/desert/rocks as my only footwear. Risky move, but it helped me find a perfectly versatile shoe that just fit me great. (Sizing is the same as Adidas) Worked well in the rocks in the Sinai desert, decent in the winter in the city. Clean them up, get inspired by the Veilance collection and head out for fashion week. If you like to travel light, this is the pair. I chose it over the waterproof version for better breathability and I'm quite surprised how well it handles wet conditions.

Used to be a great shoe, not any longer.

This is probably the fourth pair I have bought over the years and as with almost everything else Arteryx is doing to 'improve' their products these shoes are not very good. The fabric has changes and as such it's starting to fray in the areas that see a lot of flex. Additionally the inner soles are not staying in place and move within the shoe creating a gap in the toe area which is the perfect recipe for blisters. Very dissapointing

Konseal is Great Shoe

Bought these mid 2020. Great shoe. I need a stiff shoe. It is in use together with my other of same in green for 2years. I will buy replacement for scuffs and leather ones to black Friday. Great shoe. 13 is a 13. Light. A little low for hiking.Look great with my suits. 10/10 for smart casual. Still in good shape.

All round great shoe

I have had these shoes for a couple weeks now, and love them! Style is not too flashy, they are comfy, and fit my wide toe knuckles and narrow heel foot nicely. When tied loosely, they are great for every day use, and if tied snugly, they provide the traction and support for hiking. I wanted a non goretex shoe for added breathability. I find my feet get sweaty and then cold and stinky in my minimalist goretex shoes

Excellent Shoe Ruined By Length and Size Charting

I wear 8.5 in Vans, Nike and Hoka. I wear 41.5 Sportiva approach shoes, 40.0 TCs, 39.5 Mantras. The Konseal FL 2 has excellent rubber for friction on slabs. I personality think the rubber is better for gully scrambles and 3rd class walk offs / approaches than the Sportiva TX3. The lugs are flatter, compared to the more treddy hiking lugs of the TX3, so the Konseal has better technical rock purchase, which is optimization where it matters. Lugs are less important. The TX3 has a thinner sole, so you really feel low and close to the ground. This also has an extremely underrated benefit of making hiking steep uphills easier, as there less leverage working against you. Exploring this in the next iteration would be appreciated. The Arcteryx shoes have a normal sole height. The laces are smooth and slick and untying is super fast. Logo is a touch too big, can shrink to 90% to increase negative space around it. Love the color, and smooth high quality fabrics. Works well without socks too. Sizing issues: 1) For some reason, the size US 8.5 is listed as EU 42. This is absolutely bananas. Should be 41.5. I realized this after buying a US 8.5, feeling they were too big, buying ANOTHER pair of Konseals, and then fitting close to perfect. I've had Arcteryx shoes in the past, which were comedically narrow. Diversity your foot models. This is not the case with the Konseals, which have a perfect width, similar to the name brands mentioned at the start. 2) The distance from my toe to the toe cap of the shoe is too great. Ideally the toecap would be wider, more square, and closer to users toes. Why? With every step, especially on steep terrain, the flex of the extra toe area is working against you. An extreme example of this would be walking uphill with flippers on. Every step the length flexes and works against you. Of course, there is necessary space needed for toenail comfort. It can't be too close. But it can be bumped in ~ 5mm, and the toe cap widened. I will be returning the "8.5" pair, keeping the 8 which fit my feet pretty well, and might pick up a size 7.5 out of curiosity.

First joy, then blood....

I have been a satisfied customer of many Arc'teryx products over the years, so understand these are not the insipid gripes of a hater. I bought this shoe and was initially thrilled with the fit, the performance, and the versatility. Roughly a year of use has gone by, and the shoe still looks almost new - on the outside. But not on the inside. A hole began to form in the foam padding of the heel interior, first in one shoe, then in the other. I put my finger into the hole and I find a piece of plastic, clearly part of what gives the heel its structure. The piece of plastic has a surprisingly sharp edge. Apparently the motion of walking causes the sharp plastic to rub against and bore a hole through the foam lining the heel. Then it bores a hole through your pricey merino wool socks and next through the skin of your heel. Not sure of the why. Maybe a design flaw? Maybe the factory left out a critical part? Maybe the heel lining material was not up to specification? Not my place to say. All I know is that I have this pair of once loved shoes with only minimal wear that I absolutely can not use. If it wasn't for the sock destruction and bloodletting, I'd give the shoe five stars. Disappointed in more ways than one. I also I have the version of the same shoe with the waterproof/breathable liner (rain and snow happen) and now I fear that pair too will go down the vampire path. This has not put me off the brand - I just yesterday purchased an Arc'teryx soft shell. Just a little leery of the shoe department.
Q: Pros:
A: Too many to list!
Q: Cons:
A: Only my specific complaint.
Q: Activity
A: Light to moderate hiking, occasional scrambling, trail walking, and wearing to work because I just can't stand hard dress shoes anymore.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Awesome for climbing, hiking and biking

I’ve been heavily using a pair of these for a couple years now and they are awesome! The sole is super grippy and has sharp edges for technical approaches. The thick toecap is great for scree and rooty trails. The lacing going almost to the toes really keeps my foot in place when walking downhill and prevents my toes from hitting the end. The fit is too narrow to be comfortable for an everyday shoe but awesome for moving outdoors. I’ve used them on low fifth class terrain and often rappel from multi pitches in them as the fit is so reassuring. As a bonus, the grippy sole and tight fit make for an awesome clip-less biking shoe as they really stick to the pedals and keep your foot in place. My only gripe is that they get wet pretty quickly and take forever to dry out. Maybe my next pair will be GTX. After a couple years of hard use the upper is a bit scuffed and the edge of the toe cap has started peel away a little bit. Nothing unexpected and that a bit of gorilla glue won’t easily fix. I’ve been really impressed with the durability considering what I’ve put them through. Recommend them to everyone. I’m buying another pair when these bite the dust in a year or two.

Great shoe except for the flaws

I wish I could give these a better review. I've owned a bunch of pairs of the previous version of this shoe, and one pair of the GTX version of the FL 2. The GTX pair had a seam open up at the ankle and were warrantied. I've had this pair for two weeks, and they are already fraying and pulling at the seam in the forefoot, very similar to another reviewer's experience above. I've submitted a warranty claim and have no doubt Arcteryx will make it right, but it's disappointing to have my favorite model of shoe have these design flaws. I own about 8 other pairs of arcteryx trail runners, boots, and a closetful of technical gear and by and large have had no such quality issues in the past.
Q: Activity
A: City exploration, hiking

No, I do not recommend this product.

The Perfect Approach Shoe

Ive had these shoes for a couple years now and they've shown no sign of slowing down. I mostly use them for bouldery approaches in Squamish, but they also perform amazing on shorter hikes as well. As far as I am concerned this is my perfect approach shoe with the added bonus of its sleek all black look, it makes coming back into the city after a long day in the forest a lot less of a scramble when trying to make myself look a bit more presentable for meeting with friends.
Q: Pros:
A: Super Grippy, Long Lasting, Durable
Q: Cons:
A: Wish it still came with goretex
Q: Activity
A: Approach/Light Bouldering

Yes, I recommend this product.

Poor quality, cool shape

After only 1 months of light urban use (work-home) there are wears and tears on the material and delamination of rubber parts on both sides. Hard to believe that’s why I am attaching photos. Other than that I love the style, colour and comfort. My feet are standard but more on the narrow side, so I bet the wider foot won’t fit. Guess shoes will make it for another month or two max, such a waste!
Q: Pros:
A: Cool shape
Q: Cons:
A: Bad materials
Q: Activity
A: Urban

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great shoe but narrow fit

The shoe looks and feel great except in the toe area were it was too narrow for me. I bought my usual arcteryx size 10 which is right in the specs of the the size chart but even then, it was just too tight for it to be comfortable. Sorry I had to return them. Bought the Norvan LD3 instead in the same size and they feel spot on.
Q: Pros:
A: High quality
Q: Cons:
A: To narrow
Q: Activity
A: Hiking

Yes, I recommend this product.
