Great for Saskatchewan Winters!

I bought this jacket a week ago, I was skeptical on how warm it would be as it’s so light weight. I live in Saskatchewan, Canada and took my dog for a walk this morning and it’s was -26 feeling like -36 with the windchill and I was not cold at all, I did wear a sweater underneath but I’m still impressed with how warm I was and I love that I don’t feel bulky in this jacket whatsoever. This is the nicest winter jacket I have ever purchased. The only con I would say is with the length of the jacket the bottom half doesn’t necessarily keep my legs warm, but that doesn’t bother me.

A Disappointment Compared to the Previous Edition

I bought this coat two or so years ago. I've LOVED it! It's warm enough for most days in Michigan's winters, and it's not overly bulky in appearance. I've worn this coat EVERYWHERE. My coat is pretty well worn out, so I ordered another. I just received it, and I'm disappointed. It has the Arcteryx logo prominently plastered on the hood. Because of that prominent logo, this coat is only good for very casual wear. I would never wear a logoed coat to a dressy occasion. This edition is not the coat I've loved. Get rid of the prominent logo!

Zu überbewertet. Es ist gar nicht warm bei 0 oder Minus Temperaturen. Zu teuer für einen " besseren Regenmantel. Ich bereue jeden Franken....Ich friere immer noch.

Cozy. Practical. Stylish.

I'm really happy with this parka. Coverage on the upper leg makes a big difference in balancing out the warmth provided by the coat, and the zip can be opened from the bottom, which allows me to use the parka in active situations. Feels great to be comfortable outside for long periods. I've had several people remark on how nice the coat looks.

Incredible jacket all around.

Incredible jacket. I am 5ft 3in, 130lbs, and purchased a medium to layer underneath. Great for city commuting when I have to wait on buses and trains and stay warm in cold rainy conditions, but also have to walk and build up heat. Hits just above the knee, so my knee high rain and shoe boots leave very little (well, my knees) unprotected. The only reason for an umbrella would be sideways rain. If I were to be extra picky, I’d prefer a longer brim, but a baseball hat will do to keep my glasses dry. Beautiful and functional.

Beautiful parka

It is gorgeous, comfortable, and windproof. Hasn't gotten cold enough in Madison to see if it will pass that test, but I am hopeful. Love the color! I initially bought size S but it was too tight in the chest. I was worried size M would be huge through the hips but it is great.

Perfect for cold winters

That is my warmest piece of clothing for the heavy winter. I adore that I feel so warm in it and that it has goretex layer, hence I do not feel the wind. But the overall look of parka could be improved.

Rain proof winter jacket

Needed a waterproof long warm winter jacket. I have sat watching a football game in the rain and the gortex kept me dry for the 2 hr sitting in steady rain in late September. It was warm and dry. I’m happy I got it. Large wet snowflakes will not soak the jacket and it stays dry and warm. The black sapphire colour is so nice and the seams, pockets and hood are all cut very nice. It’s a very posh looking winter parka and isn’t bulky.

Perfect insulated jacket

I bought this jacket a few years ago and have been wearing it in Vancouver. Not only is it good for winter, but also perfect for fall and spring here. The jacket’s material is waterproof and protects me from the rain and wind, but also super lightweight and doesn’t overheat me like my Canada Goose jacket would in the past. It’s very form fitting and has a nice slimming look. I feel really satisfied with this jacket and it’s one of my favourites from Arcteryx!

Light and comfortable but too long, too big

I bought the Patera Parka online a few weeks ago since the store did not carry XXS. I especially like the dark hazelnut color. It was very warm when I tried it on indoor. I did not try it outdoor as even with XXS, it was too long, fall below the knee, and too wide in general for me. I’m 5’1” and 95 lbs. Even though it was light and had a comfortable feel, I returned it. I hope Arc’teryx will come out with a size for the parka that fits petite women. I like it a lot but it doesn’t fit.

Im Oktober 2023 habe ich meinen zweiten Patera Parka (black) gekauft und auch dieser hat nun schon wieder seine Farbe verloren. Aus dem Schwarz wird ein ausgeblichener Violetton. Das ist mit meinem ersten Patera Parker, gekauft Januar 2022 auch passiert und daher hatte ich mir einen zweiten gekauft (in der Hoffnung, dass das schwarz sich dieses Mal nicht verändert). Ich trage diese Mäntel nicht im Gebirge etc., sondern nur im Winter zum Spazierengehen in der Stadt - also keine extrem Sonnenbestrahlung etc.

My new favourite everyday winter parka

I have been wearing the Patera Parka as my everyday winter coat for the past few months in Ottawa, Ontario. It's definitely become my new go-to. The level of warmth is perfect for running errands in the city and I can add some layers underneath for some extra warmth when walking my dog. The pockets are a good size and I love the zipper so I know nothing will fall out. I'm usually either size XS or a S at Arc'teryx, depending on the item. I found the XS to be a little too tight in the arms, and the S is a little roomy, but I don't mind as it gives me room to layer underneath and the silhouette still looks fitted.

Disappointed in the quality, expensive & not warm

I bought this jacket a few months ago. I was from a warehouse for $850 plus tax so I had no option to return as it is that there was no Arcteryx store in Newfound and I can get a few dollars off. The stitches made during sewing were not properly done, one length on the left side was not flat and it was longer than the other right side. The fitting was Bugos and does not have your shape or fitting. There are much more better brands than this. I am highly disappointed and do not recommend this brand. You are buying the name and not even the quality of this design. Need to mention the jacket is not warm enough

Arcteryx design lab is a shell of its former self these days. Ever since the bulk of manufacturing shifted out side of the design lab in Canada, the quality and customer support has gone way down. It’s now a label brand— you are paying for a name and getting little else.

Great city / commuter coat

I bought this 2 weeks ago and love the feel of it. It's very lightweight and has little filling, which makes it great for communicating (I'm not sweating on the train or bike), yet it's surprisingly warm even in negative temperatures here in Europe. It's also been rainproof on the first few showers. It's also been great on my city bike My main problem is the zip - it's so hard to close and I'm worried that it could break in the near future.

Only half insulated

This is an okay winter jacket if your main goal is rain protection. The bottom half has no insulation so your legs are not kept warm. I returned it as I needed something with more insultation on the bottom.

Love Arcteryx, Don’t Love this Jacket…. .

I love Arcteryx but I do not love this jacket. I bought this jacket to keep me warm while I do outside supervision during the cold months in Saskatchewan. Sadly, a different company parka I own that is $400 new is way warmer than this jacket. To the point, when I wear this jacket it feels like there is zero down fill in the arms. Now, on the ways I have to supervise outside I don’t wear this jacket which is unfortunate as it’s a $950 parka…I wouldn’t recommend to anyone, sadly.

Not warm enough

I bought this coat yesterday in store and was assured that it would be warm enough but sadly after wearing it for 1 day I wish I had purchased something else. In order to stay marginally warm in 17degree Fahrenheit weather I had to layer a cashmere sweater and a wool hoodie to get through the day. I'll need to add a technical layer daily plus a sweater (2 sweaters is insanely bulky) and I still wont be super warm. Even with the layers today I could feel the cold. This is not a proper parka for below freezing temps. Seems great for fall and very early spring but not for Jan, Feb and March. I would have spent a bit more to get a proper parka from this brand and been cozy but now I'm going to have to layer way too much and not be comfortable. Even more frustrating that I took the time to go to the store and ask questions etc. Also, the zipper is glitchy and it's been 1 day. This is a great brand so I am surprised.

New model is disappointing

I have the older model of Patera (2018) and I loved it. Unfortunately the zip broke and after reading that the model had been updated and made roomier on the waist, I decided to buy the new version. But so disappointing! The sizing is off, I normally wear a S but in this model my shoulders don't fit! I like that it's wider on the waist, but why change the rest?? Also the fabric feels cheaper compared to the older version and the hoodie fits weirdly tight when not worn.

I too am finding the new version of this parka disappointing. Fits like a paper bag. Why change a good thing. The previous version of this was beautifully tapered at the waist and back to give you some shape. Now it’s just ill fitting and box-like. Wanted to purchase a replacement for my old one, but I will definitely pass on this one and look elsewhere. The quality of the material has also gone down hill from previous versions and is not as durable as before.

Not Warm Enough!

As a person who runs fairly warm and even sweats in my older winter jackets, this jacket is not warm enough. I live in Toronto and this parka can't even keep me warm in mid-November when the weather is not even -5C. I have an old Fission SV that is discontinued and that is even warmer than this parka (the Fission SV is synthetically insulated). I'm not sure why they discontinued the Centrale parka since that is a warmer parka. Very disappointed in this jacket which is surprising as I love all my other Arcteryx pieces. Only thing I like about this is that it is GORETEX and the style is flattering to wear to the office or out to dinner (Centrale was also this style, so again, not sure why Centrale is discontinued). Save your money and get a warmer parka.

Too long.

I wish they'd make a version that would reach right above the knee for a 5'4' woman. It's way too long for so many of us. Reaches right above my calf, looks unflattering and is annoying to walk in.
