Perfect fit for me. 5’9 and 165. Size M. This was a warranty replacement after having my original one for 13 years. The zipper seam came apart. I received a quick Warranty voucher. Great water proof layer jacket for skiing and cold mountain hikes/wet runs. The product and the company have made me a lifetime fan.

Great Lightweight Rain Jacket

The Beta SL has quickly taken over as my go-to rain jacket. The extra fit customizations and under-arm vents really kicks it up a notch. I also love the light-weightness of the jacket which makes packing it easy. It's a no brainer to just throw one of these into your pack whenever you're facing (or might face) inclement/temperate weather.

Certe cette veste n'est pas donnée, mais lorsqu'on la porte sous la pluie on comprends ce qu'on a payé. Elle est très bien ajustée, et est le parfait complément de mon Atom lorsque le vente et/ou la pluie surviennent. Je l'ai testé sous un épisode de pluie méditerranéen particulièrement violent, mélé à de grosses bourasques de vents, le haut de mon corps était confortablement au sec et au chaud.
Les manches sont un peu longues, mais au final c'est également un avantage car elles protègent la veste portée en dessous.
A voir dans la durée, mais pour le moment c'est juste parfait !

I bought this when it was called the Beta lightweight but apparently the SL is just a new name for the lightweight which is interesting because if im not mistaken, other Arc' shells labeled SL were not 3L GTX so for me it made it kind of confusing but it must be different being within the Beta family I guess. I did obsessive research on the best rain shell I could find for all around use, and this was it, not the AR because I planned on using it for hiking too and I run hot and I heard the AR can be a little warm for hiking (granted this was fairly fast-paced hiking). I had bought it before hiking the AT/Smokies/ NC for three months last year. This shell was perfect because it rains a lot and it rains hard in NW North Carolina, but it also can get very hot, very cold, and all of that in one day gets me whipping my Arc out after it starts down pouring out of no where , to hiking in it for hours while pushing up against heavily soaked brush along the Art Loeb, kept me dry. I know there was some debate on the eco friendly new gtx where it wasn't waterproof however I never had that issue. The Beta SL was perfect for my condition and I didn't overheat thanks to how light the shell is and the pit zips, but even in colder temps with wind blowing at 6,000 plus feet in altitude, the shell was a wind breaker too and kept me warm in the wind. I'm 5'6 at 155 lbs (athletic build) and I got a small. I can fit into an Atom LT extra small but the Atom LT small fits better however the sleeves are longer. I went for the small with the Beta SL despite sleeves being longer and I'm glad I did because it allows for layering. I could've fit into the extra small but because of the way it's cut, it would've been too restrictive in the chest and pits. Small was the perfect size and the only thing id say may be a negative is the sleeve length but its really not bad, especially when the velcro straps are used, you can find a happy medium with cuff placement to get that tapered, athletic, iconic Arc'teryx look without looking too crinkled which shortens the length too. And if the sleeves bother someone, despite this ruing the warranty I think, id get the sleeves tailored if it was that big of a deal. This is the most versatile jacket I own as it lives up to what it's made for in the field but also looks sleek for city wear, especially with the black color. It's GTX and still makes noise but it's soft and the noise isn't that bad. Before pulling the trigger Ron this, I was looking at Stone Glaciers M5 but it isn't GTX and I heard some people had water soak through and then other brands like Kuiu I was looking at too but it's some waterproofing that isn't GTX but their own version which always makes me skeptical but I came back to the Beta SL because it was 3L GTX, had the C-Knit backing allowing it to be softer and with a high denier for durability, it's the best of all the things you need in a shell. Arc'teryx really is the NASA of outdoor gear.

Full featured and lightweight

Amazing how something with so many features can be so lightweight. Still pretty new so can’t comment on durability, but for the first time out in a heavy snowstorm performed really well. I did find the sleeves unusually long (Size M) which is slightly annoying and not something I normally experience with other shells, but small issue in the scheme of things.

Durability concerns…quite disappointed

I purchased this jacket two years ago, intending it to be a highly versatile, lightweight piece for rain protection, skiing, ski touring, and everyday use. Unfortunately, I have started noticing significant wear on the back, to the point where I am now worried the fabric might tear. I have attached a photo so you can see the issue.
I am genuinely disappointed with the fabric’s durability. I believe the wear is likely caused by wearing a backpack while using the jacket, which seems like a completely standard use case. I have owned several similar jackets before, and this is the first one to develop this kind of issue. It raises concerns for me about the durability of Arc’teryx fabrics.
As a big fan of the brand, I expected better longevity from this product. I would appreciate it if customer service could reach out to explore whether anything can be done to repair the jacket. Given its price, I would be really disappointed if I had to replace it so soon.

I dont know guys, but imho sizing is out of order. Seriously. I have always used M sizing and my measurements didnt change at all. My previous Beta SL is still fine, little worn out so I tried and compared M and S of the new model. So the M is bigger in every aspect, and sleeves are tooo long realy. While the S size is simply too small... Maybe not the sleeves, they measure just fine 🙂 Dear Asteryx team, I am fan of your products sinse like 2012... And always loved your style and technically advanced clothes. But this time, I dont know how... But the sizing changes are to radical for me. Looking forward to revised release of this model. Cheers

Great jacket…would have been 5 stars however I feel for the premium price you pay for Arc’teryx the zip feels a little weak. I suppose only time will tell on that. Material is a little noisy. But overall very happy.

Awesome shell for resort skiing

I recently wore the Arc’teryx Beta SL jacket in Vitality Blue on a ski trip to Aspen, and it absolutely delivered! The jacket is lightweight but completely weatherproof, which was perfect for Aspen’s unpredictable mountain weather. It kept me dry and warm during heavy snowfalls and was breathable enough for those intense runs down the slopes.
The fit is fantastic—athletic and snug in all the right places without restricting movement, even layered over my base layers. The Vitality Blue color is vibrant and stood out beautifully against the snowy backdrop, plus it’s easy to spot in group photos or on the slopes.
I also appreciated the attention to detail, like the storm hood that fits over a helmet without being bulky and the water-resistant zippers that actually work. Overall, this jacket is a perfect blend of style, performance, and durability. If you’re looking for a high-quality shell for skiing or other outdoor adventures, I can’t recommend the Beta SL enough!

This jacket is a little lighter and more packable than the Alpha SV I own. I’m wearing it as just a rain coat and got it to fit without all the extra sizing for insulation. Love the waterproofing and it hasn’t wetted out in the heavy rain we had recently.

Not what I expected!

When I received the jacket I liked the fit and the fact that it is lightweight. But... first time I tested the jacket in light rain (hardly wore the jacket 2-3 times before that), directly after a couple of minutes water was not repelled like it should have and jacket got wet directly in a couple of different spots. Would never expect a gore-tex jacket to fail like that. I had jackets with different membrane types and also much cheaper ones which worked better in the rain. Maybe the DWR was not applied correctly in the factory?
I sent the jacket back. Too bad because I had really high expectations.

The dark wet spots you noticed, known as “wetting out,” don’t indicate an issue with the GORE-TEX membrane. Instead, they relate to the DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment. This jacket now feature an FC0-DWR, free of PFAS, reflecting our commitment to sustainability. This treatment requires more frequent care than the previous C6 version to maintain water repellency. While the DWR helps water bead and roll off, it doesn’t affect the waterproofness of the GORE-TEX membrane, which remains fully waterproof even if the outer fabric absorbs moisture. We appreciate your feedback, and if you have any further questions, feel free to reach out!

Beautiful jacket. Love the black sapphire color. Jacket is noisier (crunchy) than expected. Sleeves slightly long, hood very large. Enjoy the slimmer fit. Tested 30 minute walk drizzle and light rain, no repellency issues with DWR from factory (see photos). Would recommend.

Great lightweight jacket

Great light weight jacket, perfect for backpacking and spring skiing. I’ve noticed the DWR coating has worn out quicker on this jacket the regular models.

I like the color options, The pit zips and how light weight the jacket is. The surface fabric is not as durable as the LT with pro, so if you're hiking through foliage especially bramble, you may have abrasion and possibly minor damage. The sizing is also a little off, as other reviewers have noted, it's not as trim as past jackets. I think the price is pretty high for having a lower level and cheaper Gore-Tex fabric. Not a fan, bring back a pro version of the LT please!

Great jacket. Tried probably a dozen rain jacket on the west coast and this one finally kept me dry. Tried all the big names and always go back to this one. Great for layer underneath in colder weather

Beta SL Jacket Men's
The Beta SL Jacket – our lightest Beta – is built for mountain realities. Highly versatile, it’s carefully designed to deliver complete waterproof, windproof, breathable protection without sacrificing lightweight packability. Its innovative GORE-TEX ePE membrane is light, strong, and PFC free. C-KNIT backer technology improves comfort and breathability. This product is free of intentionally added PFAS.
The new ePE membrane technology is lighter and thinner, but just as strong and durable as the materials we used before. You may notice the face fabric “wetting out” slightly faster in products with ePE membranes, but rest assured this does not affect the waterproofing of the membrane itself. If you notice the fabric wetting out faster than you’d like, simply wash the jacket and dry it to remove the oil contamination and bring the DWR back to its full power.
