Slick

The perfect backcountry/minimalist resort shell. I owned an older Sabre LT jacket and this blows that piece out of the water. Super packable, plenty of room for layering underneath. I’m typically on the cusp of medium and large and medium is plenty big.

Close to being great.

I purchased this at a discount directly from ArcTeryx. This is a good shell with a lot of good features. On the positive side, it's light but really does a good job cutting wind with proper layering can be worn in -10 to -15C weather comfortably. If it's durable, it will be a really good jacket for me (my last goretex shell lasted 25 plus years). It also has some deficiencies. I think the cut of the jacket is too tight around the bottom. I'm 5'10", 185 lbs and wear the medium. When I bend down, the jacket really restricts movement, unless I cinch the waist adjustment so that it rides higher - but that also bunches up the zipper, making starting the zipper a pain. It should be a shorter cut or have side zippers, or flare a little bit, or be cut shorter in front with a longer back. As others have stated - not having a powder skirt is a miss as is not having better cuffs on the sleeves. Overall, at the price I paid (discounted colour - solaris/sequoia - which is the colour I wanted) I think it was a good purchase and I would recommend. IF some improvements were made, I would be happy even at the full price. As a general note to ArcTeryx - they need to make a hard shell (maybe 100D) that has a powder skirt, the pocket configuration of the Rush (except move the RFID pass pocket to the forearm from the bicep) and better cuffs. It would be great ski shell with these changes. There is no jacket in their lineup that has all these features.

Pd99: True, but at that price it has to be perfect and the Sabre felt even longer on me than the Rush. My ideal jacket would be the features of the Sabre SV with the cut and fit of the Alpha SV. But @ $595 for the Rush I can accept some deficiencies.

Solid

So far, so good after several sessions in the Rush. Durability and waterproofing seem top-notch. If I were to change anything, would be to add full length pit-zips to allow better ventilation/acess to under layers.

Goated Jacket

This jacket is outstanding and versatile, making it ideal for resort skiing, freeriding, and especially touring. It serves as the perfect shell for nearly every snowsport discipline. Made with 80D Gore-Tex Pro, it feels incredibly durable and capable of withstanding almost any weather condition. Despite its robust construction, the jacket remains light, breathable, and tough. Even with the characteristic stiffness of Gore-Tex, it offers excellent ease of movement, providing a full range of motion for your back and arms. I highly recommend this jacket to anyone seeking a do-it-all ski shell. It’s simple yet delivers exceptional performance in every aspect. Its fit stays relatively true to size, I would even go as far as recommending this jacket over the Sabre, as its simplicity and fit are just unmatched. (This jacket has no fleece lining or snow skirt, which, in my opinion, makes it more versatile as those two features can be replaced with good layering and a snow bib.

My Favourite Shell

I use my Rush for a resort skiing shell and have been loving it. It’s incredibly light, easy to layer under and has amazing wind/waterproofing - especially with the storm hood up it really is a fortress. Sleeve pocket is great for an RFID pass and the jacket has a great amount of pockets in total. Fit is quite true to size in my opinion.

Bonkers Sizing

I’ve always been kind of between sizes for ARC’TERYX jackets(6’3”, 205). Having said that, the XL has always been a pretty solid fit and allows for some layering. In a large the sleeves and torso have always been just a little too short especially if layering. So naturally I ordered an XL. I really wanted to like this jacket but when it arrived I realized to my dismay that ARC’TERYX had oddly changed their sizing, and not in any way that makes any sense at all. They went ahead and made large which was already a little too small, ever since slightly smaller through the chest, and shockingly made the XL significantly larger. Make no mistake, we’re talking a significant upsize. Why they made the already fitted large smaller and then the XL larger still had me scratching my head. Maybe they have a sense of humor, if so I really do appreciate the effort. Seemed like a great Jacket, but until ARC'TERYX re-adjusts their sizing to something more sensible look like I’ll be getting my ski jackets elsewhere.
