Gamma MX Hoody Men's

The plastic drawstring piece on the hat is poking my neck. Shouldn't it be designed to sit outside the jacket instead of inside? It's very uncomfortable.

The new sizing is the best! The softshell helps prevent tears and feels more comfortable than the hardshells. I would recommend if you're looking for a shell to keep you warmer on colder days. Looks good. Perfect fit. There are enought room for the under layer.

It's my go-to for touring and as an outer layer for colder hikes with low chance of precipitation. It acts as a great barrier for wind and light precipitation, shedding both easily and retaining heat. The softshell helps prevent tears and feels more comfortable than the hardshells I have. I wish the pockets were weather sealed, but that's not the intention of the jacket. Overall, would recommend if you're looking for a shell to keep you warmer on colder days.

I am disappointed about this iteration of Gamma MX Hoody. Arcteryx was the manufacturer to go with but lately and sadly the fitting is totally off. The last ones fitted superb in M but now it's too tight around the shoulders. I feel like cramped in instead of having a real good feeling. So this is why I returned the product. Sadly the size L is way too wide around my belly even if it would fit my shoulders, arms and chest, I cannot life with the tent like feeling over my stomach. In the past Arcteryx made stuff for the more athletic fit but now it's more for the mainstream. Don't be mad with me, but if you write that size M is the same you should deliver the same size and fit and not tighter jackets. It does have a good fit around my belly, but this pressed in feeling on the shoulders is a no-go for me. The other very disappointing part is that the seams on the arms / hands are so badly manufactured. It was so much better on the previous version. This version here would let a lot of air in. Please consider making it the classic Arcteryx way again. Dunno who is responsible for this "new" design but you should listen to your customers and as always - design should follow functions

Absolutely love the old versions of this jacket which fit like a glove without restricting movement. I will not purchase this new version. This new model, which has the exact same name as older models, has less articulated arms with different panel designs and somewhat less stretchy material such that it no longer allows the same freedom of movement in the arms. Particularly when reaching full forward. The arm pocket for holding a resort pass has been deleted. The changes in the cuff design may actually be an improvement for those of us with large sports watches that tend to get trapped by the cuff, but I can't confirm that since I will not purchase this new model since it no longer is functional for most of my activities and going up a size just looks baggy. Arcteryx should create new product names or qualify them with a version number or some such instead of hiding significant redesigned products behind earlier successes. Like model years with cars, bicycles, etc, it would make purchasing used versions, gift giving, and reordering significantly easier.

Purchased this jacket in XL and was very pleased. Would love to replace the one I own, after some rough usage, but disappointed in the revisions. At this price point it should have GORE‑TEX INFINIUM™, Die-cut Velcro® cuff adjusters, and pit zippers. Please consider adding these features in a future revision without increasing the price.

Great durability. Light jacket with satisfactory windproofness. Breathability could be better. Used mostly for every day for walks and commuting to work.

Really love the jacket! Flexible, breathable and breathtaking. Love the colour 😍 and the fit (long sleeves to your gloves). Would have: The jacket is windproof but would love to see it a bit more water resistant.

Great jacket definitely more of a 1.5 season item, I can only get away with this late Autumn (fall) in to winter and have to switch to my LT from about March. Very warm, very tough and uber practical. Can also get away with wearing it in the city over a shirt and tie for the commute or with casual pants! Very versatile. Highly recommended. Beware of the sizing Large is big and medium is snug

This is the the perfect softshell for backcountry and city use. Arcteryx nailed it with the 2024 version of the Gamma MX Hoody. I´ve been a long time user of the Gamma MX series. I usually wear XL, and the previous Gamma MX versions have always been a little light across the shoulders and around the waist, leaving no room for layering. The 2024 version is perfect. The use of logos is also reduced, only a stitched bird on the chest. I hope Arcteryx continues with this, less is more. Please add more colors. Would love to see Gamma MX in Tatsu.

I unfortunately did not read the reviews before buying a new Gamma MX hoody. I had one I purchased 10 years ago in grey and decided I wanted it in Black instead. I should have realized something was up when I was able to sell my old jacket for nearly the same price as a new one. The new one does still look good and I get compliments on it, but it doesn't feel as easy to wear now that the cuffs are longer and the fit is bigger. It's especially noticeable with the front chin cuff. I used to wear my old one zipped all the way up all the time. But, with this jacket it's too high and baggy.

Very versatile, can layer up for NYC winter and also just one layer for autumn/spring. I like the fitting and stretchness of it, but I really don't like the big logo on chest.

Absolutely love this piece for cold winter hikes and as a versatile outer layer when in windy conditions. The pocket configuration is great and the face fabric is durable enough for abrasion when scrambling.

Tried it out but the fit is a big miss. Just overall seems to be made for a different more casual crowd. This was my go to jacket for winter hiking and biking as the fabric was tough, easy to layer with, and the fit was tight to keep out the cold. It’s too loose and seems to be made for the bigger consumers. I’ll be looking for used models of this jacket from years past instead as I need a replacement after literally wearing out one from 2018.

I wore the old version of this coat everyday for 10 years. It was a amazing coat. It is now a great coat. In short go back to the old fit! The good The pockets which were the first to break on my old coat are made much sturdier than the old one. These will not break anywhere near as easily as the old netting. The lining of the coat feels higher quality, it feels slightly warmer than the last coat. Which is a little weird because it's clearly been made to layer. But as a standalone nothing to complain about. It's still an extremely functional coat. Pockets aplenty, zips great, storm hood large and responsive The goodish First putting it on you can immediately can tell it's roomier, supposedly this is to allow for easier layering. I never had any problems layering anything under the old gamma so it feels unnecessary. However I played about layering some layers underneath and it definitely feels good. The bad Due to the changes the coat isn't as comfortable as it was. The aesthetic is also negatively affected. I wear it for functionality so I am less fussed for this but I can see why it. Would put people off. Conclusion It's a shame because I tried a gamma on in store only a few weeks ago before ordering and it was the old cut. Definitely prefer the old one, but as I said. Still a great coat

Still my favorite build quality and jacket premise, but Arc’teryx did not seem to listen to the previous feedback folks offered on the jacket — keep it trim, add some mobility in the chest/shoulder. The updated fit seems to offer a bigger belly and the same chest, which has been typical of the sizing updates in the last couple years. Sadly had to send it back, and hoping to see more offerings in the historical cuts that made Arc’teryx the go-to for me.

I ordered this shell because my last one failed and they warranted it. This one is similar to the last one but seems a little lighter. Unfortunately it has no pit zips and no straps on the cuffs. Arc Teryx is obviously cutting corners and trying to appeal to casual users. I'll probably sell it on the secondary market and buy a different shell from a company that doesn't cut corner. Disappointing.
