Demlo fabric is fantastic!

The Demlo fabric is flowy and the dress is so well made!
The design is beautiful. The detail of the slight transparency at the very bottom of the dress is subtle and chic. ( The dress is made of 2 pieces of fabric and the top one is a bit longer, so the dress is a slightly transparent at the hem, which is a very elegant detail.
The A-line, the pockets, the cut is gorgeous.
Veilance should make more Demlo garments for women. It is an extraordinary fabric unlike any other: light, airy, incredibly breathable and great in hot, humid weather, but also quite water-resistant - almost waterproof.
It is light and easy to wear under other layers if need be. Weighs nothing on you and in your suitcase.
So the Demlo dress is beautiful, practical, great for travel, perfect for the opera or the beach… if you would want to wear such an expensive dress at the beach.
If the top could hide the bra, it would be the best dress ever…
I buy it 2 sizes down. Then it is not too big at the top and does not gape at the back. It is then too tight under the arms ( 2 sizes too small for me, so that is normal) but not too uncomfortable. And then my bra does not show at the side anymore, just the straps at the front, and a lot in the back. That is the problem that makes the dress appear less high-end and chic. Otherwise, it would almost seem haute-couture with such a striking fabric, fine cut and astonishing finishing.
Please keep making this dress: just revise the top. In colors dark enough so it is not see-through, it will sell like hotcakes!
The Demlo dress is better than the Palister for summer. ( The fabric of the Palister is hot and a bit heavy.) Both have a longer length very useful when an elegant dress is required. But the Palister is more of a mid-season dress. It is actually great in the winter, when worn as a tunique over a long-sleeved top. Therefore the Demlo is THE dress to buy to wear in the summer.
I keep adding details to my review in the hope Arc’teryx will make this dress right and finally offer the perfect items we want to buy.
Remember there is a good chance your clothes will be worn over a sport bra, possibly with straight straps or with a halter cut… They should not really be made to wear bra-less like fashion items seen on the runway.

Great Verdigris color, top still shows bra…

Congratulations! You fixed the see-trough problem in your Demlo dresses and Lota skirts. ( I am afraid the new Eave dress in Dark Cocoon will probably be uncomfortably see-through, but I have not tried it yet.)
Great new color ( Verdigris ), finally makes the Demlo dress a bit more cheerful , darker, so not too see-through.
But what about fixing the top of the Demlo dress? You would sell more.
Women wear bras. If the straps show, the garment is not elegant. That is the design flaw in Veilance for Women : looks good on the rack, not so much on actual women.
Look at the pictures on your own site: the dress makes a georgous girl look dowdy, especially from the back. At that price, it is infuriating.
I already own 7 Demlo dresses. The fabric is fantastic to travel in hot weather, especially great if it starts to rain.
But I have to buy the Demlo dress 2 sizes down for it to fit, and the top is still baggy, and it shows my bra from the front, the side and the back! So that dress never looks like an expensive purchase, and I it is not flattering.
Bring back the designer who made the original Contenta dresses. That Diem fabric is the best in any weather or situation. And that designer worked for real women's bodies.
The Veilance designer is super cool, but his clothes stay in the closet.
I buy the entire Veilance line in all colors every year. So I can say:
- Enough dowdy baggy clothes ( Palister dress - I should know, I own 4);
- Enough women’s clothes in fact designed for men ( Dienne shirt, V Eave t-shirt);
- Enough bra-showing tops! ( Demlo dress, Eave top, Toric tank top);
- The make and finish are incredible, but the designs not there yet. You can fix that easily. Get a real woman to try the prototypes; make sure the bra does not show ( halter or regular, do check both); check that the skirt is not see-through or that it does not open too high ( as last year’s rendition of the Lota skirt did.)
Contact me and I will tell you. It is very easy to see what will sell, and what can’t.
Women want to buy Veilance. But you are not making it easy…
But thanks for the new colors for Demlo and Palister. I will buy them, but will never wear them as they don’t make me look good… And I will keep waiting for something that actually fits, in your fabulous fabrics and extraordinary finish.

Transparent, Unbecoming Yellow

Please:
- no weird unbecoming colors;
- no see-through skirts;
- no tops showing bra straps and side boob.
This Demlo Tank Dress in pale Sincha yellow was never going to sell… Make it in Terra, olive green, dark red, navy, prune. Try beautiful, bright colors. Veilance intense Tidal Blue ( why were all the georgous Veilance garments in Tidal blue only made in men’s? )
The Veilance « bright » color choice is terrible in the women’s line! When you choose very different colors for women, why is it weird Lilac Sky and terrible Sincha yellow?
Earth colors are nice, but Oat is too transparent for the Lota skirt, and makes any coat like the Lota coat look like a pharmacist’s lab coat…
If any fabric color reveals the space between the thighs, that color won’t sell. So the Lota skirt sells in black, and it will sell in the new dark brown. It would sell in navy. It did not sell in Oat… The Demlo dress will not sell in pale yellow. In such fabrics, these colors are too transparent for skirts and dresses.
People want to buy your clothes, but you have to make them in wearable colors.
The top of the Demlo Tank Dress does not fit well: it shows bra straps. The only way to make it fit better is to size down, at least one size down, even better 2 sizes down. I went one size down in my first purchases, then 2 down in the last ones.
I have 6 Demlo Tank Dresses: 2 of each in Black, Crater ( beige), and in Grey ( only ever sold by ReGear.) So I feel very competent to review it and give you feedback.
The Demlo fabric is fantastic! Soo great in hot and humid weather! But as it is a very crisp ( almost “crunchy”) it is hard to style. But when you’ll succeed, it will be your best-selling items. Make a “Contenta Shift Dress” in a double layer of Demlo. Stick exactly to the old design - don’t change a thing. It will be amazing in this design, in a dark enough color. That will sell like hot cakes and will truly introduce Demlo to your customers ( who have not bought enough clothes made of that amazing fabric.)

Gorgeous, but completely transparent dress

Gorgeous dress.
So light one feels naked wearing it. Perfect for hot summer days!
Great under the rain:
It is water resistant so it will remain elegant even under a downpour.
Wrong sizing:
Choose one size smaller than your regular size. Then the top will fit and the dress will still be very loose.
Transparent:
Unfortunately, it makes one look naked as it is completely transparent. ( A bit less in black. But the Crater colour is … naked!) I did not notice this when I tried both colours on at the store. But when the sun ( or any light) hits the dress from the side…Wow! That is seriously embarrassing!
Since the dress is fully lined, ( it is made of 2 pieces) it is silly to have lined it with the same transparent ripstop… The dress in the beige “Crater” colour is absolutely not wearable without some kind of slip underneath- which cancels how light, breathable and great for hot weather the dress is…. And it is so transparent that the slip will show: arrrgh!
That is such a big design mistake! And it’s a shame because the dress is great besides that. It is suitable for every outing: from the beach to the opera. For good or bad weather.
That transparency looks good when the other Demlo items ( like the shirt or the anorak) are worn on top of another garment. But the dress needs a slip: dang!
I am not a fan of the schoolgirl look in the pictures on the arc’teryx website. Yes, it can be worn on top of a t-shirt. But it looks much better without anything. And it looks good under a t-shirt. That way it looks like a long, airy skirt. And the top is light enough not to bother under a t-shirt.
I love, love the fabric. It is wonderful ! But very transparent, especially in « Crater ».

Perfect all-around dress!

This tank dress is perfect for dressing up or for wearing around town. It's oversized but drapes so beautifully and is flattering on so many body types. I'm only 5'3 and the length hits right above my ankles. I will dress it up wih for an evening out OR throw on birkenstocks or tevas for around town or at the beach. The fabric is super light and doesn't wrinkle, AND it has pockets! Brilliant for travel!
