Sabre Relaxed Anorak Men's

Just got this shell, and I’m stoked to put it to the test. Fit: Runs large—definitely size down from your usual. I’m always a large but medium fits me well and a bit baggy like I like. The relaxed fit is spot on, with plenty of room for layering without feeling bulky. Features: Has everything you need for a serious shell. I wear bibs, so I don’t mind the lack of a powder skirt, but that’s something to note. Performance & Build: Feels absolutely bombproof. The materials and construction are classic Arc’teryx—top-tier. Aesthetics: Colors are fire. Looks just as good as it performs. Arc FTW.

I was a little concerned by some of the lower reviews, but ultimately purchased the Relaxed Anorak. Turns out -- I love it. I'm using this shell for snowboarding and camping. It's a relaxed fit so it will be very baggy, which gives me a lot of room for mobility. The biggest drawback is the size zipper. The front doesn't open like a traditional jacket which makes it a bit cumbersome to put the jacket on or off. At first I really didn't like this feature, but then I realized it's what makes the jacket so great: the big kangaroo pocket in the front lets me put my hands in keep them warm, which wouldn't have been possible with a traditional front zipper. One other thing: Keep in mind that the sleeves are very long, which is expected as it's wont ride up on you when you reach up. Anyhow, very happy with the purchase.

High quality like you expect from arcteryx, but beware this jacket is stupid long. Having purchased a prior sabre anorak, I was not prepared for the difference in the "relaxed" cut.

I’m not sure what the first reviewer was expecting, but maybe try measuring twice and riding once. I’m 5’11” 184 lbs. athletic build and I’m coming from a M rush jacket. This fits similarly with a more relaxed fit. This does not include a powder skirt (similar to the ‘24 rush) but like so many people, I wear a backpack with a hip and shoulder strap, so this accomplishes the same thing. Read up on powder skirts vs wearing a backpack with a hip strap. The jacket is longer than my rush. Also, the material does feel more robust than my old rush jacket.

I want to love this jacket so bad, but I just cannot. The Sabre Anorak from 22’-23’ was absolutely perfect in every way. So was the older Alpha SL Anorak. This new Relaxed rendition is not the same and it breaks my heart. This jacket DOES NOT have a powder skirt, has no attachments to connect to the pants, has no way to tighten it below the hips, and it is definitely not “stormproof”. The wider relaxed fit combined with zero ability to seal or secure the bottom half creates a heat-sucking wind-tunnel jacket that not even bibs will fix. This jacket provides the same amount of storm protection as a down skirt. The Relaxed sizing is new for the men’s line and I did not understand it at first. I later learned from an old article about the women’s Relaxed Fit that it was created for people like me who order up a size for more room. I have always been between a medium and a large, and have numerous pants and jackets in both sizes that all fit great. I ordered a large version of this jacket and the length of the torso and arms are nearly identical to my other Large Sabre jackets, but the chest, waist, and hip dimensions are much larger. In this jacket the Large Relaxed is fells wider than a Regular XL, but everything else is the same as a Regular Large. I love the decision to include the new Relaxed sizing, but I would recommend erroring on the smaller size when ordering. The change to Gore-Tex 200D is different from all other Arc’teryx products I have seen. It does not have the same semi-gloss look and feels more like canvas. Definitely feels more rugged, but also heavier. There is a noticeable visible difference when placed next to any other item of black Arc’teryx outerwear. Do not expect this to match the standard Sabre pant.
