ePE fabric is not up to standards of $1000 jacket

I understand the need to move away from the use of pfas, and I saw In the product description it says the jacket will appear to wet out but doesn't effect waterproofing... But this a $1000 rain jacket. I don't want my jacket to last longer than a day of use before setting use. On first use resort riding with wet snow it was already wetting out. Imagine a full day of wet riding/multi day. Not acceptable for a $1000 jacket. At this point you are just paying for a logo. If you're serious about keeping dry, stick the older material that has pfas. #bringbackPFAS

The move to GORE-TEX ePE is part of our commitment to reducing environmental impact, and while it remains fully waterproof, it does require regular washing to maintain water beading. We understand wetting out can be frustrating, especially in prolonged wet conditions, and we appreciate your feedback. If you haven’t already, we recommend washing it to reactivate the DWR to help restore performance.

Just ok

Sizing not consistent with past experiences and current expectations. Have an older Sidewinder in L, and needed a bit more room as I’ve gotten older (sigh). Thought a bump to XL would be simple move, but have gone way too far. Would expect this to be a XXL in other brands. Construction quality good, but light use this season as I went back to my 10+ year old Sidewinder.

It’s wonderful when it isn’t raining or snowing! DWR also stops working after two rain days. Returned first sabre I received due to a manufacturing defect causing leakage. First jacket lasted 3 days, second one only 1 day before wetting out.

Great jacket, in an awesome color way. This is my 3rd Sabre shell, and it's always my go to...only improvement sthat come to mind are an exterior phone pocket (that can fit the iphone plus) and the interior goggle pocket to he able to hold goggles laterally so they lay against your torso better. Besides that, 5 stars all around!

Made to meet the conditions the backcountry throws at you, the Sabre’s strong, breathable 80D 3L ePE GORE-TEX fabric shuts out wind and wet, driving snow. Its StormHood adjusts to maximize peripheral vision, and a RECCO reflector can help in search situations. And it’s made to move – articulated patterning and a fit that’s clean but not restrictive.

What's been updated: Updated with a new durable, lightweight GORE-TEX ePE fabric that offers a reduced carbon footprint and has an 80D face fabric for enhanced durability without added weight.

This product is free of intentionally added PFAS.

The new ePE membrane technology is lighter and thinner, but just as strong and durable as the materials we used before.   You may notice the face fabric “wetting out” slightly faster in products with ePE membranes, but rest assured this does not affect the waterproofing of the membrane itself. If you notice the fabric wetting out faster than you’d like, simply wash the jacket and dry it to remove the oil contamination and bring the DWR back to its full power.
