Alpha lightweight Parka

Ski guide mountain Guide. This jacket is insane. I just got it, and it’s freezing where I’m at right now. I’ve been skiing in it constantly, even breaking trail. Very light, and compressible. Easy to stuff in the pack. I’m generally a large, originally purchased that. Sent it back and got a medium. This jacket fits very large. I’m 180lbs, 5’11”, 43” chest. Excellent design and fit.

Light, tough, versatile

I’ve been looking for a well-rounded jacket for travel/adventures. I tend to like to travel w/ just one. I was waiting for the nuclei LT revision (and hoping Arc would add the infinium outer), but when they re-issued this A-LT I decided to give it a go. I’ve now used it in much colder weather than I anticipated and I was pleasantly surprised. It is very warm (maybe slightly too warm for my general needs but hard to complain about that). It handles light rain nicely. So far the shell is durable. As compared to a regular down hoodie, it is similarly compressible (slightly bigger), but much better in the wind/cold in that it cuts the wind completely. The pockets are nice. Hand pockets are warm on 2 sides and so great for city use too. It is basically a Cerium with a Beta LT shell sewn onto it. If I could, I would remove about 40% of the down to make it super LT and increase the packability…but I think the jacket does a great job at its stated design (and again, hard to complain about being too warm).

Packable and practical

The Alpha Lightweight Parka is an excellent choice for back country skiers, mountaineers and ice climbers looking for packable warmth for use in the lower 48. The fit is just relaxed enough to layer over a midlayer with a shell for cold transitions and belays. I wear a Large in most Arc'teryx tops and the fit of this works perfect without sizing up. Its got all the pockets I want where I want them. huge internal stuff pockets for gloves or hot water bottles. Chest pocket is clear of interference with pack sternum strap and holds large cell phone with room to spare. I love that the outerfabric is more robust then most light puffy jackets and yet still very supple for packing down. My only feedback is I wish it didn't have elastic cuffs but used a hook & loop style cuff closure to make it easier to put on over gloves or watches.

Thoughtfuly designed, truly the best belay jacket

I use this as a belay jacket ice climbing in the Canadian Rockies and an emergency layer for ski touring. Windproof, warm, light, packable and durable with subtle features that make a huge difference: mesh openings to allow the down to compress easily and quickly, boxy cut that covers your bum to fit over all your layers, integrated stuff sack that you can leave clipped to your harness while wearing the jacket, elastic cuffs with long sleeves. It's expensive but probably the best money can buy! I ripped the stuff sack when shoving it in my pack, and arcteryx sent me a new one for free.

Can't imagine a better jacket for Denali!

High warmth to weight

Very packable light jacket for its warmth. I use it as a belay jacket for days when I am moving pretty quick and it isn't super cold out (have the standard alpha parka for really cold days and days I'll be standing around), or colder ski touring days when I'll be digging pits and waiting for others.
