A well done trail shoe

The sylvan pro is an excellent trail shoe. The vibram outsole is quite sticky and provides great traction. The shoe fits well and feels responsive and nimble on the trails. Definitely size down at least 1/2 to 1 size. Aside from that, the shoes is the best trail running shoe I’ve worn in quite some time!

A great companion

A marvellous Shoe. It takes some time to put them on, but then you enter another world of running. I will probably never prefer another shoe for all kinds of Trailrunning. Not only do I like the no-nonsense look, I also like the Grip of the outer Sole.

Good shoe so far!

So far, so good. I was originally concerned about the foot print of the heal, but its working out. The shoe is comfortable and lightweight. Its my first arc teryx running shoe and will likely try another arc terx shoe if this continues to work out. They initially seem well made.

Great shoe

2 runs so far and they are nice. Out of the box the fit is comfy. I did go, as per other reviews, 1/2 size smaller and happy I did. The rocker bottom feels weird at first while walking but once running I don’t notice the sole profile. Overall so far the cushion the sole feels like a good amount and not too much. Still decent feel for the trail but not to the point where I feel like I’m running on couch cushions. Having had 6+ pairs of different versions of the Norvan the failure point for me is the joint where my toes meet the foot. The fabric on the inside of the foot fails at that point in every pair. Could be my foot? I do have a high arch. Time will tell either way the Sylan. Design wise the shoe looks good, I went with black because I wasn’t a fan of the light colour palette of the others. The large bird logo is cool, I think a small embroidered bird would be good as well. I only went to a 4 star simply because I have only ran in them twice .

Do not buy the Sylan Pro…

…unless you’d like a trailrunning shoe with a thought through knit collar. Unless you’d like a responsive midsole and aggressive outsole pattern, delivering exceptional traction and a rocker that propels you through the terrain. Tested in the wet, root-heavy trails of Trøndelag (Norway), the shoe excels in both stability and energy return. Stuck on choosing the right size/fit? For shorter 5k-30k runs, I’d recommend the precision fit. Fantastic traction. Pure trail confidence .

Solid perfomance concerned about durability

Have done 2 long trail runs. Found them comfortable with no break in. Excellent grip on rock, gravel and muddy sections. Dried fast when submerged during stream crossing. Concerned about durability. Sole is already coming away from the shoe on the toe box.

Mediocre at best

Arc'Teryx Sylan Pro are not performance shoes. I don't know how people are giving these good reviews! Midsole: feels flat with zero energy return. Rocker: circa 2017 design fad. Upper: Sloppy and unstable. Fit: wildly long; my 9.5 fits like a 10.5 wide. I caught the toe on a rock and ate it hard on a pretty mellow trail. These shoes are ridiculous. Whoever is paying $200 for these and saying they're amazing must not have run in literally anything else from any other brand in the past couple years.
