Short Norvan 5” Hombre

I am 165lbs, 5'10", with a 30" waist and have a muscular build and purchased a medium. Really like these shorts but some of the changes are disappointing compared to the previous design but others are nice. I have a few pairs of the previous 7" version with the two back hip pockets and absolutely loved this pocket design. The single pocket on this is just okay, it blends in with the waist band so it can be tricky to use especially while moving, and is quite small. The new waistband is a great improvement however. The previous version was nearly perfect for me except for the internal drawstring tie. This iteration fixes that but the medium waist is absolutely massive on me with a 30" waist. I have muscular legs so the small was too tight in the legs so I just tie the waist very tight and deal with a little bit of odd bunching. The fit otherwise is great and the fabric breaths well and dries very fast. I am worried it will lack some durability because it is very thin but time will have to tell as I have only run in these for a couple months. The last version was one of the few shorts that my legs did not rub holes in on the inner thigh so I am hoping these will live up to that. Overall love these shorts but the lack of pockets is disappointing. It seems like they went for a stripped down high performance garment which it does very well, but for the price some features are definitely lacking. Would love different versions of these shorts like arcteryx did in years past with other garments. A fast and light version more akin to these, and an all around version with more features like the last version and a slightly burlier design would be perfect.

Very thin and breathable. Almost perfect. The only issue I have with it is the waist fit. I've been using size S shorts and even had the 2022 model sz S, but this model is particularly loose fitting in the waist, I am nit really a fan of lacing up shorts unless necessary, but fit is not the same as 2022 model.
