Nice, minimal, but not breathable

At first I liked the jacket. Windproof, packable, good fit(if you want alpine fit go size down. The new arcteryx sizing is terrible and oversized). But note, that is short in the body. After some time I recognise, that the breatheabilty is very poor. When I have this jacket on during ski-mountaineering and put it down, is totally wet from inside.

It’s a bummer the jacket isn’t to your liking but the description literally says “windproof” aka not breathable. These reviews are unfortunate because this jacket is a 6 star jacket when used for its intended use, which is worn while static.

Instant Warmth

I've had my Nuclei FL for a couple of years. It is exactly what it claims to be. Light and packable, I wear for anything low-output when farenheit temps get into the 30s and below. Pull it on, and you instantly feel yourself warming. It's definitely made for static phases - or easy strolls. It packs small, is surprisingly light for the warmth it delivers, and I've had no durability issues. I tried it on a ski tour and wore it while digging out my propane tank got sweaty fast. But for rest periods, at camp while backpacking, and just rambling around in Sierra cold it is outstanding. Fits larger than an Atom or Proton, but not super big like a belay parka.

Nuclei FL Solid Alpine Piece

The Nuclei FL Jacket is designed with climbing in mind. The sizing has changed from the first generation to this one- I preferred the original cut which is slightly larger overall and accommodated layering better. I am a medium- 5'7", usually a medium for all tops, smalls on the bottom. Athletic fit/ full-time guide. I would size up to a large for this jacket model '23 model. Although the fabric is on the slightly less breathable side, the jacket has an incredible warmth-to-weight ratio ad the design features are still top-notch. I would imagine that the durability has not changed which is a general stable of Arc'teryx.

Great jacket but it doesn't breath

I still have the original Nuclei Hoody, but it's not that warm anymore after countless washs, so I decided to buy a new one. Good quality as usual, the cut is perfect for me as usual, looks very good. Only minuses are that the hood can't be tightened to your face, and it seems that the jacket doesn't breath like at all. It only takes 300m walk to a grocery store, and my back starts to be sweaty. When I get back the insides of the jacket are almost dripping wet. If I wear my two times as heavy down jacket for the same and there's no problem. The inner canvas of this new Nuclei should really be re-considered, otherwise very nice jacket that packs small and can easily take wind and also light rain. It's also much warmer than you would think from it's thickness.

It’s a bad sign that your heavier down jacket isn’t wet inside after the same activities. That means your sweat is going into the jacket and accumulating inside the down making it less effective.

Almost zero complaints

Almost everything about this jacket is great. My only issue is the lack of breathability. If you will also be using this jacket for casual use, opt for the Atom AR hoody. I have a hard time wearing this with a short sleeve shirt given the lack of breathability. My arms end up damp if indoors.

Warm, light and windproof

Bought last month. Great jacket to carry to top of Grouse Mountain to keep warm. Super packable, blocks wind so less breathable than others.

Warm, light weight, compact,

Love this jacket, its lightweight and very warm, compresses down very small for packing, perfect for under my shell jacket, on climbing days, or by itself for going around town. Love all my arcteryx products they are top shelf!

Great static insulation jacket

I bought this a few weeks ago and it has faithfully been in my bag or clipped to my side for all outings since.
On top of only a t-shirt it keeps me warm down to about 25 F by itself, and over the weekend over a light base layer and my atom lt as an activity layer, it kept me warm during breaks at a chilly 9 F while I stopped to examine forming ice floes.
My only gripe is that though intended for use as an outer layer, it doesn’t seem to be “iexpedition sized” in that a medium would fit over my other medium jackets. Over a thick base layer, an atom, and either my gamma lt or beta lt (all medium) things are a little tight.
I don’t blame Arc for this, and have debated whether to regear the medium I have for credit towards a large or just buy another in large. Not sure if they would exchange since I’ve used it lightly.
But all in all a great jacket, perfect for intended use case of a lightweight static insular layer.

Not durable, issues with hood and fitment

This jacket tore in several places after less than a year of owning it. Although intended as a belay jacket, you cannot contact rock with it or it will tear. The hood does not have cinches in the front, leaving space around the sides for cold air to blow in in windy conditions - it will not keep your head warm. And the chest/shoulders fits too tight.
I contacted Arc'teryx to ask about the durability issues and they will not repair it.

About the same insulation wise as an Atom LT, but more wind resistant. Will be used mostly in spring and fall as a one-jacket solution.

Mi primera prenda Arc,teryx. Buen ajuste, impresionantemente cálida, y muy ligera. Totalmente cortavientos, lo cual me encanta, hay muchas chaquetas de fibra sintetica que arruinan su experiencia por que en cuanto hay aire frío pierdes todo el calor. Por supuesto es una pieza para estar al parado, no para hacer actividad. ¡ La recomiendo al 100 %!. Seguramente compraré mas ropa en Arcteryx.

It’s a warm jacket for sure, but the outer material is too wrinkly and shiny, it feels you always have to have a shell on top of it.

Good packable insulated jacket

I bought this jacket almost a year ago so I have some to get to know it.
It meets up to all my requirements that I had for this jacket when I was buying it.
I mainly use it as an extra layer to keep in my backpack to bring out when it's getting colder or when i stopp my activitie to grap a snack or something.
I like that the jacket comes with build in bag to store it in and make it packable. It feels high-quality and well thought through like all the arcteryx equipment I have owned.

Only one insulated jacket? This is it!

Especially with the hood up, this jacket is warm enough for pretty much any cold day of climbing and the included stuff sack means I won't think twice about taking it up a multipitch (rock) climb or tossing it in my touring pack. I had a recent day in Eldo climbing in the shade and this jacket blocked the wind and kept me warm during a lengthy belay. Love the bright blue colour too!

essential rock climbing belay jacket

Light, warm, abrasion resistant, packs small into built in stuff sack. I don't go rock climbing without this. I think this is the warmest Arc'teryx belay jacket for the weight (but not a 'super warm' jacket, meant for 3 season adventures) and I prefer synthetic jackets for rock climbing when things could get a bit wet, or the jacket could get ripped (down will explode feathers everywhere, this you just patch it and continue). For summer alpine adventures I sometimes bring two, in the same size or staggered sizes, so I can wear both when belaying or at a campsite, and wear one when climbing (if it's cold). Essentially more versatile than a big puffy jacket.
