Für Aktivitäten mit vielen Belastungs- und Ruhephasen bei kühleren Temperaturen ist diese Jacke ideal. Material: Das Isoliermaterial hat auch bei feuchter Umgebung und leichtem Wind sehr gut Wärme gespendet. In Situationen wo ich früher eine Hardshell oder eine isolierende Jacke über meine alten Midlayers angezogen hätte konnte ich bis zur nächsten Belastungsphase aushalten. Anfangs war ich etwas skeptisch gegenüber dem dünnen Obermaterial. Jedoch erwies es sich als relativ robust. Beim Felsklettern und Mixedklettern konnte ich es auch nach mehrmaligen, gröberen Felskontakt noch nicht aufrauen oder beschädigen. Nur der elastische Bund am Ärmel könnte bei rauem Fels etwas schneller verschleißen. Wenn die Jacke komplett durchnässt wird (z.B.: beim Waschen) kann es durchaus sehr lange dauern bis sie wieder trocken ist. Durch das Schwitzen und leichten Regen hat sich die Jacke aber noch nie unangenehm nass angefühlt. Im Gelände hatte ich mit dem Trocknen bis jetzt keine Probleme. Taschen: Die 4 Taschen sind mir auch positiv aufgefallen. In den geräumigen Brusttaschen lassen sich Handy, Sonnenbrille, GPS usw. gut verstauen ohne dabei Probleme mit dem Klettergurt zu verursachen. Die Einschubtaschen sind auf der Außenseite isoliert und bieten etwas Wärme für die Hände. Die Brusttaschen lassen sich auch gut mit dicken Handschuhen öffnen. Kapuze: Laut Hersteller soll es möglich sein die Kapuze über dem Helm zu tragen. Das hängt aber bestimmt vom Modell und der Größe ab. Ich habe die Kapuze unter dem Helm bevorzugt. Mein Helm hätte unter der Kapuze die Bewegungsfreiheit zu stark eingeschränkt. Ohne Helm empfinde ich die Kapuze als beinahe perfekt Gewicht: Die Jacke fällt mit 475g etwas schwerer aus. In Anbetracht des langlebig wirkenden Materials, der praktischen Taschen und dem Verwendungszweck ist das aber vollkommen okay. Für Bewegung in unangenehmen Witterungsbedingungen empfinde ich die Jacke als perfekt.

The Practitioner Hoody is so breathable that I wear it every day for work (ski patrolling) and keeps me warm when needed. The two massive chest pockets are perfect for Rite-in-the-Rain notebooks and the adjustable hood fits snugly! Amazing product!

Another well fitting solid product from Arc’teryx. The practitioner outer fabric is extra tough compared to other products and stands up to the abuse I throw at it daily. Will last many years to come. This is why the brand has such a loyal following. Keep up the great work Arc’teryx

Usual Arcteryx quality. This is the warmest hoody I have owned. It's too warm if anything! Very pleased, sizing was spot on.

Is it the best layer for the shoulder seasons? It might be. Perfect from the cool morning start to the celebratory drinks in the parking lot when the day is done. The jacket is slightly less insulating than the Atom AR but is perfect for the versatile layer when straight warmth isn't what you need.

Via Ferrata guide in Québec here. This is by far becoming my favorite hoodie. Fit is great, warm when you need it, well ventilated, colour is great. I also handle a SAR k9 and the colour and versatility is phenomenal. Only down side, only available to a select few through Pro-program and not available to industry.

Best for all weather and perfect for traveling One of my favorite

This jacket is designed for high output activities in the cold. It breaths very well, especially with the octaloft liner that wicks away my sweat and also keeps me warm when i'm static. The stretch fabric is durable and also at a longer length that fits really well under my harness. In extreme cold, actively working and carrying heavy loads, this is my midlayer or can be used without a shell if the weather is dry (cormac or motus shirt is a base layer and the ski guide jacket is my shell). The practitioner is perfect in my area, at 14,000ft/4300m and mostly cold and dry. I have the large, which fits really well (I am 6ft/183cm, 185lb/84kg, climber build). The sleeves are long enough to cover my arms during full range of motion. The two chest pockets are key, along with nice hand pockets. For the last three years, I've worn this jacket primarily for alpine rescue and sometimes ice climbing if it's very chilly. Paired with the Alpha Parka, I'm unstoppable walking through the Trader Joe's parking lot.

Excellent fit, beautifully made. I couldn't be happier. Can't wait to throw some grrrr at it and see how it holds up!

I bought this a few month ago and what should i say? Best allround jacket i've ever had. Use it for alpine climbing during summertime or as isolayer for iceclimb's.

This is an excellent product. Very glad to have purchased, and it will augment many of my outside activities such as hiking, biking, camping, etc. It has reasonable DWR properties, and it both breaths/stays cool and heats when I need it to. I have also received many compliments about its cut/design and colour, although I will note that it very much looks MUCH more red online than the orange it turns out to be IRL.

I have too many jackets.. but can honestly say this it THE ONE. it acts as a durable and stretchy softshell but also insulates with the comfy Octaloft. the outer material is incredibly durable- the same material as the proton jacket but this is Fortius 50 whereas the Proton is 20. This not only makes it more durable but also blocks the wind better yet somehow remains very breathable. Can wear as a cozy hoody in higher temps or lower temps with high output activities. I personally like this better than the Proton Jacket for most of my uses. Got snagged on thorns in J tree this weekend and no damage. Easy to pack and Octaloft resists packing out. I am 6'3 170 lbs and Medium fits perfect as a fitted piece, consider sizing up if you want to layer, but I only imagine wearing a base layer and delta fleece or equivalent under it at most so I went with the smaller size. nice long sleeves which is usually an issue with my lanky arms. Only gripe I could think of would be the hem adjuster does not have a keeper and just hangs down when you have it pulled tight but that isn't a huge deal.

Excellent product - not for me. The fit is a bit big, especially in the arms. I am 5'7" and about 160lbs with a broad chest. The sleeves were too long in a size M. Comparing this to a Proton Lightweight, the sleeves were over an inch longer. Unlike other brands that will reverse the insulation along the sleeves, the practitioner has octa facing out, making it grab on layers a bit more. Performance is excellent, but not the right fit for me.

love the jacket, extremely versatile -i use it as a layer for alpine skiing

Just bought my second practitioner jacket. It fits a little different than other arcteryx products for me, I am 5'8'', 160lbs and wear a size small. I have longish arms for my height and the sleeve length is perfect. Great material, and super happy with the oversized chest pockets that fit big smartphones and notebooks without dramas. Would love it if they beefed up the zippers on the chest pockets, the reason I'm getting a new one is a busted pocket zip. On the other hand I can't give anything less than 5 stars to something I wear 200 days a year.

I had the previous generation with Alpha insulation, as well as the original Proton AR and Proton FL . Very happy with this model. I don't know whether I have put weight on, or the design has changed, but the L is a closer fit than the previous model. I really like the Octa-loft in this jacket. Soft and great nexxt to teh skin if needed. The Octa-loft in the Proton FL wasn't like this at all - if it had been, it would have been a better jacket. Breathes well. feels nice. I still use the standard Proton AR about town, but the Practitioner AR Hoody old, and espescially new, is by far the better piece of kit for outdoor activity IMO.

Overall an amazing jacket. One pet-peeve; I wish the draw cord on the bottom hem had a keeper. As the jacket is designed now, any extra cord after cinching the bottom hem just hangs out of the bottom of the jacket. It gets caught in waistband when it of pants, hangs in the way of pockets, and just doesn’t look good.

Bought this a few weeks ago, have skiied twice in it and it's been warm and great at keeping the underside of shell dry.

I received my Practitioner AR Hoody nearly a month ago and have worn it for a variety of activities since. Great outer or midlayer for ski touring, excellent for cold weather trail runs and mtb rides, great as a midlayer for SAR training and callouts, and even looks great on a night out on town. I find the level of warmth exactly what I'm looking for (not too hot nor too cold), and the ventilation is great. I'm a 5'9" 145lb female with very long arms, and I ordered the men's medium which is a good loose fit with space underneath for layering. My two minor complaints about the hoody are: (1) the fabric stains easily and (2) unless I have a pack with a waist strap on or have my hands in the pockets, the waistline rotates with a vengeance. Not really a big deal but it can be a little irritating at times to have my zipper swing over to my right hip within minutes. Likely due to the Octa Loft rubbing against base layers and perhaps some bodily asymmetries while trail running with a vest, etc.?

I bought this jacket as a replacement for my old atom jacket (that had been stolen from me) while I miss the under arm panels that helped breathability where I needed it, I still feel like this jacket is the perfect balance between breathability, wind resistance, insulation, and durability for my needs. It is not very warm but in any high amount of activity it is warm enough to go below freezing. I appreciate that the face fabric is durable enough for me not to be shy about bush wacking during SAR missions or not to scared about rock climbing but is still lightweight enough to bring it any time I go out. I also appreciate that it feels fine on the skin even when wearing a short sleeve underneath. All this being said I still find myself surprisingly cold if just walking around town in barely cold weather, but that's not what its made for, and it excels at high output activities such as SAR, rock climbing, skinning, and more.

The Practitioner AR has been a tremendous upgrade for me in terms of midlayers. Combining raw-faced Octa-Loft in the liner with highly-durable, breathable Fortius was genius—I’ve used this in almost all of my outdoor adventures. The Practitioner can definitely take a scrape from the brush, and all those other happy accidents throughout your everyday journeys. Dual voluminous pockets at the chest, and your traditional hand pockets are highly practical—and store just about all you need. 10/10. Fits appropriately slim—consider sizing up if you want to layer more, but otherwise TTS is good for a trim, technical fit.

It's great it has a lot of room, even for a light down jacket.

Best all-purpose jacket I have ever had. good for everything: rock climbing, hiking, multi-day trekking, paragliding, Skitouring. So light and packable that is virtually unbelievable how warm and confortable it is. Allways on my pack.

I purchased this piece two years ago, and have had the opportunity to test it thoroughly. I intended to use this as a mid layer for all of the climbing I did in the shoulder season and it became a staple piece. It is slightly longer in the arms and torso to ensure easy of climbing and for wearing a harness. Then the addition of the two chest pockets and helmet compatible hood mea it ideal for all the items I needed to quickly access or deal with the elements. The following summer season I then was able to test it on an eighteen day backpacking trip where it kept me warm, easy to find, and lightweight.
