Practitioner AR Hoody Hombre

This jacket is warmer than I thought it might be (compared to Proton Lightweight).. I used it on Alpine ski tours this season - in around 0oC it was about ideal, but any warmer (over 5oC) and I had to either swap it out for a Squamish, or just use a thin Cormac T underneath. Pocket placement is perfect for use with a harness or a pack waistbelt... material is 50 denier so noticeably more wind resistant and robust. I changed the zip pullers for contrasting colours as they are hard to see with goggles on and made them thicker as they were also hard to grab with gloves. The reflective piping is a good idea, but in practice they are too hard to display - you need to curl the hem up and open the pockets; can't understand the thinking of this- why not just sew on the outside? it is a work jacket after all. I am 6'1" and average build- Medium fits perfectly. ideally worn with a T, as the insulation does not slide that well with a long-sleeved... This would be the case with any insulation though. Hood fits easily over a climbing helmet like the meteor, but even zips up when over a ski helmet like the Salomon mtn.. a YouTube review says it doesn't; but it definitely does. So, pullers aside, and the strange placement of the reflective strips, this is an excellent choice for cold ski touring, cold weather mountaineering or slow placed hiking.
