Excellent Jacket! Arc’teryx is the best! Please make in “tall” sizes.

J'ai acheté la veste alpha SV pour sa durabilité mais il n'en est rien , prix pas du tout justifie.. au bout d'un an les coutures se decollaient , du coup j'ai envoyé la veste j'ai eu un changement de veste après maintes explications, on m'expliquait que j'avais contaminé la veste , je leur ai dis de découper d'analyser la veste , ils ont bien que c'était une anomalie, rebelote avec la nouvelle veste. .. et le bouton serre capuche a glissé dans la capuche... il faut savoir que la deuxième veste , je la mettais dans le sac par peur de l'abîmer... vous voyez à quel point on en arrive , ... je prenais ma veste softshell d'une autre marque par peur de transpirer dedans etc... je vais quand même me rapprocher de Gore Tex on peut bien voir que le produit n'est pas abîmé d'usure... sur la deuxième veste pareil cela se décollait au bout de 6 mois... et même sur la poche forfait de la manche donc c'est pas l'usure ni la transpiration... a comparer avec mon ancienne veste Millet GTX Jorasses je n'ai jamais eu ces problèmes même au bout de 5 ans .. il y a un problème sur les vestes quand même quand on voit les nombreux commentaires. ceux qui n'ont pas de problème l'utilise 2 semaines dans l'année et c'est tout ... comment on peut parler d'une durabilité...

I bought the Alpha SV jacket a few years ago and have worn it from time to time in suitable weather (heavy rain and winter hikes in Europe and Asia). However, never in extreme or harsh environmental conditions. During this time, the jacket served me well. Back in Germany, I cleaned it and found that many of the welded/glued seams had come loose, making the jacket unusable. The jacket was sent for repair via service request. According to service, repair is not possible. Instead, my jacket was offered for recycling in exchange for a 20% promotional code. Due to the bad experience, I found it difficult to choose a similar product from Arc'teryx again. For a high-priced jacket like this, I would have expected a product that is more sustainable and ease of repair.

This jacket is fantastic. I wore out an earlier model Arc Teryx jacket and went all out on the cost to upgrade to a Made-in-Canada article, and could not be happier. Build quality on this garment is outstanding. Arc Teryx, please be sure to keep manufacturing for top-end products in your catalogue here in Canada. It's worth paying more to know that high end fabrication happens right here in our back yard.

Hi! First of all, thank you for creating great products! Second, I have some feedback to your product team; the last couple of years I have been using your products for skiing and hiking and I’ve noticed that almost all of them have Recco integrated. Some weeks ago I learned from a friend that this technology hasn’t saved a life since 2019, in Switzerland I recall. That’s more than 5 years! Not sure if it’s necessary to include it your products. Discussed it with my friends this weekend and we all agree that paying for a products that.. 1. haven’t saved a life in more then 5 years 2. Creates false safety 3. Genuinely the best outdoor Shell jacket ever purchased. This jacket is fully waterproof, warm, fits so well as a outer layer, feel high quality, and it SO stylish. In the three months I have had the Orca colorway, I have gotten countless compliments on the design, fit, and overall look of the jacket, as it looks stylish even on a sunny day! Truly one of my favorite pieces of clothing in my wardrobe. This jacket has never failed to keep me dry, even under the shower for 30 mins for a test, not even a drop wet with nothing underneath. It fits so well with the atom hoody underneath (another top tier purchase), and is the perfect shell. Although it is pricey, if you are going to use it often, it is so worth the price, as it will last you years. I have used this skiing, in super rainy days, In the snow, on a cloudy cold day, at night, in the mall, or doing regular daily activities, keeping me warm and stylish all day. Totally recommend, and I am so happy with this purchase.

I bough my first Alpha SV around 2015. Absolutely amazing backcountry all season jacket - perfect design. But it delaminated. Thankfully Arcteryx replaced it via a voucher in 2021. That one started delaminating after 2.5 years and much better care. Quite impressively Arcteryx provided another voucher to replace the second SV but I'm quite paranoid about purchasing another one as they've indicated this is the last time they'll replace it. It also irks me how I always get partly blamed for being too dirty and sweaty. Should I give the SV a third shot or use the voucher for something else and get a hard shell from elsewhere?

I bought the Alpha SV after wearing other shells form Mammut, NF and Arc'teryx: this is simply the best shell jacket i've owned. First observation: i'm 6'2'', 90kg, athletic fit, and i've opted for an M size, seeing how this jacked is huge in L/XL. Indeed the M fits perfectly on me, leaving room for a mid layer and granting plain of movement during trekking and/or standard activities. It also looks very good, giving an extreme sensation of protection, but without the feeling of wearing an heavyweight armor. The fabric seem very durable, much better than the 30/65D you'll find on other jackets, and albeit a little more rigid, it adheres perfectly to your body (choosing a smaller size than your usual one). The shell is also quite light considering it's a 100D and integrates a Recco sensor. Yep, it's an expensive shell, but you won't regret any penny spent on it. PS - if you wear it together woth other black Arc'teryx/Veilance stuff, the tone of black (softer) match perfectly with them, without any visible color range differences.

This was a replacement for a 13+ year old Arcterx jacket that finally needed replacement. Excellent quality. Very hopeful it lasts me for another 13 years.

The Alpha SV jacket is amazing! However this was purchased as a product replacement as part of an even more amazing warranty service. This is a company that truly cares and stands by its products…not super common in today’s marketplace.

I am using the Alpha SV Jacket for half a winter season now and truly is the best jacket I have ever owned. It is rock solid against rain, snow and wind and it feels like wearing an armor against bad weather conditions. Material feels extremely rugged and after half a season of usage in professional mountaineering the jacket doesn't show a single scratch or sign of usage.

Don't rely on Arc'teryx's Warranty. I purchased this jacket and got less than 4 year of seasonal use out of it, likely less than 200 days. I washed it using Arc'teryx Nu wash and DWR, and stored it in an indoor closet. It delaminated and was replaced, but when the replacement started to delaminate (under similar use), I was told my replacement jacket wasn't covered under their limited warranty. It seems Arc'teryx products don't last as long as they lead you to believe, and their warranty isn't reliable either.

I’ve had several of these jackets over the years and they have never ceased to impress with quality, durability and fit. I’m currently on roughly day 200 of my current model and it still looks barely a month old!

I have had this jacket for years with regular wear and testing its limits in harsh terrain. It’s still going strong with no signs of slowing down.

I bought this hardshell about 7 years ago and it followed me everywhere, from Greenland to family camping trips. Its rugged materials make it a complete weather protection all year long. It has all the features you'll need for a long day in the mountains or a rainy day in the city. Make sure to wash it often and to take care of it and it will follow you for a long time!

Whether on my back or in my backpack, the Alpha SV goes everywhere I do. Paired with the Proton Hoody, I don't need much more.

I have owned several generations of Alpha SV shells. They have all been excellent. This is my current shell for ski touring and backpacking and all other things outdoor-adventure-y. It's in my pack almost every day that I'm out. Keep up the good work.

The front main zipper leaks to the point that after an hour in the rain I have an inch and a half wide wet strip down the center of my chest. I have had the zipper replaced by Arcteryx (after arguing with support about it) only to immediately have the same problem. The pocket zippers which are different and covered do not seem to leak, it's simply a horrible design. This supposed to be the most robust jacket in the line and it can't even stand up to an hour of moderate rain and is not a functional jacket. I'm now stuck with a rain jacket that doesn't keep you dry and can't be trusted in the backcountry. I won't get into the support experience because that was another disaster but I am now being told that I am on my own. Another favourite of support is to say that "no zipper is waterproof", as if there is no difference between waterproof and being soaked to the skin through three layers. Bottom line is that I was sold that doesn't perform its function and is basically useless to me.

Since then, I have used and abused the Alpha SV across the globe in every imaginable climate, terrain, and form of precipitation. The SV has survived the abusive and rugged terrain of the Northern Rockies, desert southwest, and even the gritty Daily gravel bike commutes in the temperate rainforest of of Western north Carolina for 3 years.
