Sylan Pro Schuh Herren

Great shoe. I actually wear them all day at work and they are very comfortable shoe. I also run in them.

Coming from the Norvan LD3's, I initially did a hard pass when the Sylans were first introduced, because in store they did feel weird and unstable. Fast forward a few months and I decided to go for a pair of Sylan Pro's after reading and watching a few reviews. Im tall and not the lightest runner, and do NOT have the best ankles, but have been trail running with some racing for the past 20 years, and my first run with the SP's was in Squamish BC on very technical trails. All I have to say is WOW! I did find the first few KM's I needed to get used to the rocker and narrow heel, but that was it. After that, I found the Sylan Pro's to be awesome technical trail runners - especially in the current wet and frosty conditions. Hugged the foot and just the right amount of forefoot room that my feet felt relaxed. Outsole gripped to everything, I felt nimble, no heal slippage whatsoever, and I found the rocker super encouraging. I have had a least 10 trail runs on the north shore of Vancouver since then, and they just keep getting better. I did go a half size down from my Norval LD3's to a size 11.5. 11 was too small (toes pressing the end of the shoe).

I have to say that I am so impressed with the Sylan Pro's - they get me excited to trail run and to look forward to it! To give some context, Im in my 50's, and have been trail running/racing for about 20 years. Im 6'2" and 190lbs. My previous shoes in the past years have ranged from North Face, to Salomon, to Norda, to Norvan LD3 (very stand up runner which I liked because they fit well, no heel lift, easy to adjust, but not hugely inspiring), so honestly when the LD3's were done I really wanted to buy the Sylans for a 'step up', but was disappointed initially in the 'in-store' feel as initially I thought I would roll my ankle out on the trail, so didnt initially purchase. I ended up buying a pair of Brooks Caldera 6 at MEC because they were $90 on sale. The Brooks were definitely cushioned and good traction, but I felt like I was running in super cushioned tanks and never felt inspired to run. Fast forward to a deal I got on the Sylan Pros that I just thought, for that price, its worth giving them another shot, and WOW! Yes, the initial rocker and narrow heel took some getting used to, and given that I do NOT have strong ankles by any means, but holy crap did these things inspire me to run! I did my first run on knarly trails in Squamish BC, on a fairly frosty morning, and these these kept me secure and cornering like I was on rails. They are definitely technically inspired, and you do have to think a bit more, but that is what trail running should be. I would call the Calderas 'gravel running shoes' for a better descriptor. The Sylans are just fun. I wore a 1/2 size down - 11.5 - in the Sylans which fit perfectly for my usual size 12's. Lock down is awesome. Toe room is awesome. Feedback is awesome on the trails, and the lace garage I love because it just stops them from coming untied. I rarely have to re-tighten. Anyhow, I dont often write reviews, but thought I would here because I read so much about people saying they are unstable. Yes, I felt the same in the shop when I ran a 10 feet circle in the store, but for real world, taking the 4-5km's on trail to just adjust for the new rocker design and Vibram sole (which is awesome and sticks to everything - even slimy wooden bridges), they as I said made me want to run more often, and farther, with confidence. There have been a few times I have gone to head out thinking 'this is just a slow, easy distance today, might as well wear the Calderas for cushion" - but I find myself putting on the Sylan Pro's instead! Calderas are now for walking the dog lol. 5 stars as I actually could not find anything I dont like yet.

One of the best shoes i've ever worn. Aggressive and forgiving. My first run in this shoe was a 250km segment during a 500km effort through the Mojave Desert. It was near impossible for me to roll my ankle in the Sylan, lots of protection. Aggressive rocker makes bombing downhills very fun and I feel in control. Currently have 750km on my first pair and they still have some life in them
