Question 1

Will it re-waterproof my jacket?

Dante, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thank you for your question. The Nu Technical Detergent is designed to clean technical garments and help restore their performance by removing dirt, oils, and residue that can affect breathability and water repellency. However, it does not re-waterproof a jacket or replace its Durable Water Repellent (DWR) treatment. In many cases, washing a garment with Nu Technical Detergent and then drying it according to the care instructions can help reactivate the existing DWR finish. If water is still not beading on the surface after cleaning and drying, a separate DWR treatment may be needed. For best results, we recommend following the care instructions specific to your garment, as GORE-TEX and down-insulated have different care requirements. You can find detailed washing and care guides on our Product Care page: https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/rebird/wash
We hope this helps.

Question 2

Does Nu Technical Detergent leave a smell (e.g., any unpleasant detergent smell) on the jacket after the wash? I see on one review it said their garment was left with a smell. Therefore, asking to get a confirmation.

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. Nu Technical Detergent leaves no residual scent on your gear. While a fragrance ingredient may be listed, it is designed to rinse out completely and leave the gear unscented. Once washed and dried, your item will not retain a noticeable smell. We hope this helps!

Question 3

Hi Arcteryx, I have both a Ralle Parka coat and a Ralle Down Parka coat. Should I be using the Nu Technical Detergent on the Ralle Parka and the Nu Down Detergent on the Ralle Down Parka?

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Jason, thanks for reaching out. You are correct. Since the Ralle Parka uses synthetic insulation, we recommend washing it with Nu Technical Detergent. For the Ralle Down Parka, which is insulated with down, we recommend using the Nu Down Detergent. We hope this helps!

Question 5

Wanted to wash my atom hoodie but im not sure if i need both detergent and the spray for it to bead again or the detergent is enough.

Luna · Accepted Answer

Hi Stan, thank you for your question! The Atom Hoody is a versatile synthetic insulated jacket finished with a FC0 DWR treatment to repel moisture. To clean the jacket, the Nu Down Detergent is the best choice for insulated garments. It’s designed to gently clean and restore loft and performance in both down and synthetic insulation. The Nu Technical Detergent, on the other hand, is better suited for GORE‑TEX, fleece, and softshell fabrics. If you notice that the jacket is no longer beading water, detergent alone won’t restore that; the DWR needs to be reapplied. Our Nu Durable Water Repellent spray is ideal for refreshing the water‑repellent treatment. For step‑by‑step guidance on caring for your synthetic‑insulated gear, you can check out our ReCARE guide:

Question 6

How do i use the detergent? What does it do? I purchased one when i purchased couple things

Luna · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thank you for your question! The NU Technical Detergent is designed to gently clean and restore performance in technical fabrics like GORE-TEX, fleece, and softshells. It cleans thoroughly without leaving residue, helping your gear look great and perform the way it was designed to. To use it, simply replace your regular detergent with NU Technical Detergent when washing your gear. Follow the care label on your garment and avoid fabric softeners or bleach. For more information on caring for Arc'teryx gear, feel free to check out our product care page: https://arcteryx.com/us/en/help/product-care. We hope this helps!

Question 7

Does the Nu Technical Detergent contain any wash-in treatments?

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. The Nu Technical Detergent is a high-performance, non-residue detergent that gently and thoroughly cleans and restores outdoor apparel, including GORE-TEX, fleece and softshell fabrics. At this time, we do not offer a wash in style DWR. If you are looking to restore water repellency, we recommend our Nu Durable Water Repellent, which is a spray-on treatment. We hope this helps!

Question 8

Can you use this on the Noas 55 pack?

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer
