Question 1

Do you make the shoes for people with wide or extra wide feet?

Nemo · Accepted Answer

Thank you for your inquiry. At this time, we do not offer the Norvan LD 4 Gore‑Tex Shoe Men’s in wide or extra‑wide sizing. The spacious forefoot and secure midfoot hold deliver comfort and stability for many guests, even without a dedicated wide option. All of our footwear is considered to have a standard width, and since fit can vary from person to person, we offer free returns within 30 days in case the item does not fit as expected.

Question 2

How does the cushioning compare in depth with Hoka which gives an individual like myself the protection needed due to issues with my metatarsals?

Helio, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Jerry, thank you for reaching out! While we’re unable to compare our footwear or products directly to other brands, we can share how the Norvan LD 4 GTX is designed to support long-distance comfort and impact management. This shoe uses a dual-density EVA midsole that combines cushioning with lasting shock absorption and stability, rather than an ultra-soft or overly compressive feel. The stack height measures 25mm in the heel and 19mm in the forefoot, providing meaningful underfoot protection while maintaining a responsive, trail-focused ride. A 4mm molded open-cell sockliner adds step-in comfort, and the Comfort Fit with a spacious forefoot is intended to help reduce pressure across the toes and metatarsal area. Overall, the Norvan LD 4 GTX is built to balance protection, support, and control for extended runs on rugged terrain.

Question 3

I'm considering buying this shoe as an all day walking shoe for Europe, and the cobblestone streets etc, and preparing for those rainy days. Would this be good for that purpose or are they better suited on trails?

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. The Norvan LD 4 GTX Shoe would be a great choice on your trip to Europe. It is designed to be a capable shoe on any kind of terrain. It also features a full GORE-TEX® liner, which will provide waterproof protection on those rainy days. We hope this helps!

Question 4

Will Norvan LD 4 GTX be slippery on wet, smooth surfaces, such as wet tile floors?

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Kirby, thanks for reaching out. The Norvan LD 4 GTX Shoe is designed as an adaptable waterproof shoe for confidence on training and adventure runs. While the Vibram Megagrip sole offers reliable traction across a variety of surfaces and conditions, the shoe has not been formally tested or certified as anti-slip or slip-resistant. We hope this helps!

Question 5

Hello! I'm looking for sneakers for walking in the forest. At the same time, I also want to comfortably move around the city in rainy weather. Can I choose this model as a universal one or are they more for running?

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Stas, thanks for reaching out. The Norvan LD 4 GTX Shoe is designed for long-distance trail running, but its versatile construction makes it a great option for both trail runs and everyday use. The full GORE-TEX liner provides reliable waterproof protection, so it performs well in wet and rainy conditions and can be used year-round. Even if you are not running, you’ll still enjoy the grip, cushioning, and support the Norvan LD 4 GTX offers for daily wear. We hope this helps!

Question 6

Hi, I have ordered a few pairs of shoes, Sylan gtx and Aerios gtx, and they all seem to fit too tight in the width. Size 9 were too big length. I have just received 3pairs of size 8.5 Sylan’s gtx and these are tight width. What would you recommend?

River · Accepted Answer

Hello Dinyo, thanks for reaching out! Fit can definitely vary between styles, especially when it comes to width and overall volume. The Norvan LD 4 GTX is designed with a Comfort Fit, which means it offers more space in the toe box and a less snug fit overall, so it may work better for you than the Aerios or Sylan GTX. That said, we’ve also heard that this model tends to run large, so we typically recommend going half a size down based on your foot length. If you're unsure, we suggest visiting one of our brand stores to try them on in person. Otherwise, you might consider ordering two sizes and taking advantage of our free returns within 30 days.

Question 7

How is this for road running?

Sophie · Accepted Answer

Hello, thanks for your question! The 4mm lug pattern offers great traction on soft surfaces like trails as well as hard surfaces like roads and rocks. However, if you’re mainly running on roads, the lugs may wear down more quickly, which is the only downside.

Question 8

Hello,
Is the toebox wider than the previous LD3 GTX? If so, of how many centimeters approximately? Is the men version also suitable for a woman? What are the main differences between the men and the women versions, apart from colors?
Thanks!

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Clemence, thanks for reaching out. All our footwear has a standard D width, except for the Kopec Shoes, which feature a wider toe box. The Norvan LD 4 GTX Shoe does not have a wider toe box compared to the Norvan LD 3 GTX Shoe. The only difference between the men's and women's versions is the colour options. We hope this helps!

Question 9

how are the new norvan LD4's different from the previous LD3 model?

Sophie · Accepted Answer

Hello, thanks for your question! The Norvan LD 4 differs from the LD 3 primarily in its reduced stack height, now 6mm. This change improves stability while maintaining a responsive feel. Additionally, the LD 4 features an optimized fit with a stronger heel lock to prevent slipping and less toe bang for added comfort. It also includes a lace garage to keep your laces neatly tucked away, offering a more streamlined design.
