Awesome jacket

Everything is perfect about this jacket except for the length of the torso. When I ice climb the jacket pops out of my harness quite often when I reach up. It is mainly in the front where the hem makes it is shorter there than the back. Can Arc' either make the jacket have no hem or make a tall version or make the regular sizes have a longer torso please.

Lightweight and functional

I've had this jacket for a few years now and it has been great. It is of normal Arcteryx quality and is very waterproof. For how light it is I have found it to be very durable. It took me a bit to get used to the front pockets location but it makes sense for use with a harness.

Durable Shell

I have been wearing the Alpha jacket for a few months now and have been impressed with its construction and performance in wet conditions. I was in between sizes and chose the larger size, and I've been glad I did as it has made it easy to layer over and keep full range of motion. The chest pockets have room for a lot of storage (I've carried a 32 oz bottle in mine a couple of times), but their position high on the chest is worth noting if you are used to putting your hands in jacket pockets. I can't yet speak to its long term durability, but its hearty construction leads me to think it will last for at least many years with good care. Opening the underarm zippers has been nice during times that I have been exercising without wanting to de-layer.

Great Jacket Lousy Customer Support/Online

The jacket is great. What I have a problem with is Arc'teryx support, in-store experience, and online ordering. I have had two Alpha jackets spanning at least 10-15 years and am trying to get a third as a replacement for my last. It failed on the seam around the hood adjustment buttons. This happened in May 2023 while I was in the Alps. Arc'teryx has still been unable to provide a solution. What I have experienced is apathetic store personnel, shoddy repairs, delays, more shoddy repairs, inability to use replacement vouchers, inability to create an online account, having to fill out orders online multiple times without success due to "security systems”, numerous calls to customer service with transfers and “security verifications”, etc... It has been 9 months of bureaucratic nightmare and I have not been sent a replacement much less any form of acceptable appeasement for this company's very bad service. My opinion; This product is expensive and does not provide the kind of support people who actually use it in the wilderness need.

Breathable and Reliable

When hadron first came out in spring 2022 I was surprised by the weight of this fabric, a 20 denier nylon just seems too light for a "durable" shell. My curiosity was at an all time high so I pulled the trigger on the Beta LT Hadron, (a similar piece with a slightly different fit and feature set). I used it for a while and truly loved it. The garment was breathable, and because I live and play in the bow valley it spent most of its time in the bottom of my pack. (we hardly get rain) So when I saw that the Alpha was now available with Hadron I had to give it a go. So far I am very impressed by the construction and I really like the fit too. Slighly more relaxed than my Beta LT hadron and accomodates layers better. I will use this more in the FW and keep my Beta LT hadron for SS use.

The Best Shell Overall!

I wasn't sure about this when I bought it, and decided to just try it. I found that the new Alpha Jacket is the best shell I have ever used. Having previously had an Alpha SV, Beta SV and Beta AR....this jacket is the overall winner. The chest pockets are perfect and allow for access with hipbelt or harness, and the storm hood should be the only hood used on any Arteryx jacket. (I think this is a better shell than the new Beta AR with Storm Hood). Much lighter and flexible than the Alpha SV, and it packs smaller. Still, some crinkling from the Goretex Pro shell, but less than the Alpha SV. Actually my only issue is I wish there were more color options, which seems to be a problem with most Arteryx jackets (please get this fixed). All things considered I highly recommend this shell, and am really enjoying using it!

I bought this jacket in 2016 and after seven years of great use, there was a minor issue with the seam near the pit zip. That might merit a review with fewer stars, but even after seven years, arcteryx gave me a new jacket. Great company that stands by their product.

Junk Zippers

I bought this product two years ago. This is the third coat of it's kind I've owned with the same YKK zipper and not one lasted beyond two seasons. The coat itself is well constructed but the zipper either fails to mesh the teeth or the teeth break after frequent use. Do not buy one this coat if you expect it to last beyond two years, or you know a good tailor who can replace the zipper.

New sizing leaves me out in the cold!

I used to fit in a Arcteryx regular cut small. Bummed as the new sizing leaves me without a size that fits. Medium is too big and small is too small. The only shells that will fit me now are the medium beta lt fitted, which are still a little broad in the shoulders. Its replacement the beta lightweight Medium, which is its replacement is now too big. I’m a 38/39 chest with very narrow shoulders.

The perfect shell for being in the mountains

I brought this shell to Trango Tower in Pakistan and used it almost every day. The piece came home with only a small tear on the hip which I repaired with some rip stop tape and you can't even tell now. It was 100% waterproof, wind proof, and gave me the peice of mind to try my hardest in wet conditions. Totally recommend. The size seemed a bit large for me without any base layers. I sized it a large at 6'1" so that I could have my Delta Hybrid Hoody and potentially a Nuclei underneath it. In that I used a Large Jacket and it was the right size for that layering system.

Does your comment relate to the new version of the jacket with only thick denier Gore-Tex Pro on top part and lighter denier „Hardron“ on lower part? Or did you use the previous version with Gore Tex Pro used on all parts of the jacket? Info would be highly appreciated, thanks!

Beautiful and Tough

Got this jacket a few weeks ago and have used it in extensive rain, wind, and now some snow. It has held up wonderfully and still repels water like it did brand new. The fit is excellent but a little roomy. The hood is amazing as I can wear it with a ski, mtb, or climbing helmet and it fits perfectly. Insanely clean look as well.

Gorgeous jacket. 'Love the new colors (I got the yellow/black sapphire, which is kind of like a dark navy blue). Fit is roomy (thank goodness), so it's not exactly a snug fit over a t-shirt or lightweight long-sleeved shirt, but when you put this on over a Proton jacket, down vest, or other insulating layer, the fit is perfect. For me (who is short) I found the sleeves a tad long, but that doesn't bother me much at all. A quality rain jacket I look forward to seeing me through many mountain trips.

Veste achetée récemment, reçue en 3 jours ouvrés. J’ai pris une taille XS pour une coupe ajustée (je mesure 181cm pour 73kg). Il est à noter que la longueur des manches est à prendre en compte. Je vous invite à vous en rendre compte en vidéo sur les plate-forme connues. Je possède déjà une veste Rush Is pour le ski en taille S (qui est large mais convenable pour les activités hivernales). Pour moi la Alpha (anciennement Alpha AR) est la veste la plus polyvalente du marché pour tout faire en montagne. Je l'utilise principalement en hiver pour le ski de randonnée/freeride et l'alpinisme. Elle est légère, la partie plus respirante permet de la tenir sur le dos durant de longues ascensions sans trop surchauffer. Le gore tex plus robuste sur la partie supérieure de la veste permet de bien résister aux intempérie et de pouvoir subir les frottements sans soucis. Difficile de lui trouver des défaut.

Kept me completely dry in driving rain

Purchased this jacket to use during my recent hike on the West Highland Way in Scotland. Rained every day of the trip, most of the time heavy rain with strong winds. This jacket kept me completely dry. Great product!

I bought this jacket a few years ago and it sits beside the door as my go-to for any outdoor activity. I use it for climbing, hiking, biking, or anything with windy or rainy conditions.
