Lovely jacket ruined by terrible cheap zip

I loved this little jacket but sadly the zip began to fail on day one. It kept sticking or coming undone from the bottom. I see this is a common issue and despite what one reviewer suggested - no, the jacket wasn’t too tight for me. I say ‘wasn’t’ as, after something of a lengthy saga, I finally managed to return the jacket to Arc’teryx. The zip is cheap and poorly aligned; the jacket on the other hand is NOT cheap and I think a product at this price point should be more durable than a couple of weeks. I believe the company is aware of an issue but resistant to acknowledging it and I am only writing this review to add to pressure on them to change the zip used. I really would exercise caution if you are considering buying one of these as if the zip fails, the company policy is to offer to mend it. You need to watch your consumer rights if you allow this- the flimsy plastic zip would be impossible to repair successfully.

Amazing warmth

I haven't used this new one much yet, but I already love it! I replaced an older one that ran small on me with the Alpenglow colour this season and have been enjoying it. The zippers and sizing seem to have been modified a bit, but otherwise, it's the same super-warm light and packable down.

Functional, warm and lightweight

Very functional jacket. Lightweight yet warm. I wear it enroute to fitness class, during winter outdoor pickleball in the Pacific North West, with fleece layered underneath. Kept me warm in 5C temps. Fitted enough so that I'm not constricted during high intensity PB games.

Nice Jacket - But DEFECTIVE Main Zip

Love the jacket and color - but 2 days wearing it has resulted in a very poor main zip. I have sent product form to Arc'trex over a week ago and am still waiting for reply. Ideally the overall jacket needs a STRONGER zip put in for ALL Cerium Hoodies. The jacket though is lovely, very nice, cozy and warm. Not too puffy either which is nice. I just really wish the zip did not have a problem. It won't go up nor down and is stuck, this is only 2 days after receicing the jacket and wearing it for only 2 days. Working with Arc'trex hopefully for compensation and possible refund/exchange. The inside zip seems stronger than the main zip. Now without a jacket when it is soo cold out....

So good for camping

LOVE the Cerium! I got a chance to take my new Cerium Soul Sonic Hoody on a short backpacking trip at Point Reyes. Loved how the jacket packed down into the stuff sack, around same size as my tent cover, and bringing the Cerium did not feel like a compromise of space in my pack. The campsite was right by the ocean and was very windy. The Cerium was the perfect piece to wear just chilling, cooking, eating, or playing board games. Even as it got colder into the night, my arms, body, and head (hoody!) stayed a comfortable warmth, which was noticeable because the rest of my body was getting colder. I would recommend the Cerium for chilly camping nights, doing something relaxing outside, or sitting in a cold classroom!

Warm & Cozy

Very warm & comfy. I read that it ran a little small, so I ordered a large, but I think they’re true to size. I wish I would’ve ordered a medium, but I still like it. I ordered the orange, which I love, but the dark feathers show through & make the coat look worn & dirty. Very disappointed in the look.

Great hiking jacket!

This is a fantastic jacket for winter hiking. The construction is amazing. Everything is finished perfectly. It is super warm. The fit is great for carrying a pack and allows for great range of motion in the shoulders. I see in some reviews where people complained about the zipper splitting. I can't see how that would happen unless they are wearing it too tight. I have no strain on the zipper. In terms of sizing, I am a solid size 14 and the xl is a perfect fit for me as it allows plenty of room for layers. I would say that the jacket runs small as I don't think that someone who is a size 16-18 could wear size xl unfortunately. I have the black sapphire which I think is a great neutral color. I highly recommend this jacket.
