I really wanted to like this shoe but...

So I really was excited about trying on this stellar looking shoe. I love the natural curve of the midsole creating and rocking motion that feels comfortable while on trial. But that is where my praise stops. The toe box is mad small. Like wow. I needed a larger size but at the same time that makes the elastic around your ankle more loose than it should be. Now I got pebbles all in my shoe. I like the ability to hide the laces but if it means compromising the security around my ankle Id rather do without the lace garage.

From box to hills

I went straight out and covered a 20km on a fast mountain hike with variable terrain while carrying full gear, tent, stove etc, for a night camp. I had no issues at all. So comfortable and the grip is really reliable. I’m so pleased I’m going to order a pair with GTX.

Top tier shoes.

Definitely my favorite running/ training/ outdoorsy/ hybrid shoe of all time.It’s light and very durable, and the look and design is immaculate. So many clunky and ugly shoes out there, this one is minimalist but functional and sleek. Love the feel, hugs my foot and ankle like a glove. Great volume and height. Good for tracks, road, and of course rugged terrain runs. I keep them clean and cross train with them for HIIT/ S&C workouts and they can handle the pivots and energy transfer. Love the Vibram sole, I have hiking boots that are 6+ years old with hundreds of miles and the Vibram soles ares still solid. Smart move. Would love to get a gore-tex version as well.

Superior traction and very comfortable

This is a really good shoe - ive put 35 miles and about 7k of gain on desert trails with a mix of cruisy singletrack and more technical rock/slick rock and they have incredible grip and are quite comfortable. The rocker feels a bit strange just walking in them at first but when running i dont notice the rocker at all. The lugs bite and stick where you want them and the upper seems like itll be bomb proof. As for sizing it seemed true to size for me. I wear a size 9 in every brand i own and size 9 fits very well in the Sylan Pros.

Upsetting for $200

~25 miles in. This is a product that needs improvement and further testing. Sole, upper, midsole all great. But absolutely pathetic ankle stability. For $200 these shoes should perform a hell of a lot better than $150 hokas or la Sportiva. Fit is very fidgety and difficult to figure out. Would not recommend for anyone unless they run on flat trails. Not as technical as advertised, arcteryx is close to losing my business for their poor recent product performance and quality.

With over 125 miles wearing the Sylan Pro, I give my best and accurate assessment. They are my best Trail Shoes, ever. I have Hiked with various types of shoes & boots. Not a single pair surpass this Arcteryx design. A winner!

Great shoes

This is one of my favorite pairs of shoes I've ever owned. They're super comfortable and very attractive. My only criticism is that the band around the ankle makes them a bit harder to put on than most other shoes I've owned. Other than that, they're great.
