Excellent All Around Shell Designed To Be Used

I bought this two years ago. Wanted a year round shell that was ideal for layering. Took a chance and could not be more satisfied. I live in western Colorado and this jacket performs exceptionally for fall, winter and spring outings. Summer, it takes a little more room than desired but always thankful when an afternoon storm rolls through up high.
Excellent wind protection and durability. A tree jumped in front of me last season and lead with a short broken limb. This jacket took the full force of impact and did not puncture even though deep bruising occurred.

Nice jacket but not long enough for me. I'm 6'3"and any shirt or sweatshirt I wear underneath sticks out a couple inches and gets wet. Wish it was longer or made a tall size.

All around perfect jacket

I have had this jacket for about a year, I have nothing but good Things to say about it. It has wonderful insulation and the material is unmatched, it has the best Gore-Tex zippers I've ever experienced. And the storm hood fits very snuggly over my helmet. All of the Velcro is very secure, it is well worth the investment as I I expect it to last a lifetime! I live in Sweden and it is perfect for the weather, no matter how rainy it is I have always remained warm and dry. It is crazy to me how a shell like this has such good insulation. In the winter I have my ATOM jacket on underneath for the perfect combo. The vents on the sides allow for perfect control of ventilation. 10/10 would recommend, once you have it you realize the price is right, as far as quality gear is concerned, this jacket is top notch!

For sizing reference. I am 6'0" and 175lbs. I have a 40" chest and my waist is 32". I can wear a puffy jacket underneath without compressing the puffy jacket. It fits really well. I personally love the stormhood and the pit zips. It's arcteryx , the quality is there and certainly worth the price.

Obvious point out of the way first, it is expensive. Really expensive. However, it you are looking for a hardshell to use in the roughest conditions, this is it. The Gore-tex Pro is just awesome and with the combination of 80 denier and 40 denier fabrics it just feels indestructible. Generous sizing which is good for layering, and the arms are fairly long too which is worth keeping in mind. Excellent pit zips and pockets. Love the inclusion of the storm hood on this version which is why I bought this one.

Sometimes simple is best

I've been using this jacket for mostly hill skiing and ski touring for over a decade and I've never been disappointed in it's performance. Simply put, it's the best jacket out there at keeping out the elements. It's also super durable. The quality of craftsmanship is unparalleled. All the stitching is perfect, and I mean perfect - it will never come undone. It doesn't have any extra features you don't want or need so it's lightweight and packable. Every other hardshell I've owned (after 30+ years) gets measured up to this one and this one always comes out on top in my opinion.

New Beta Stormhood

Bought this jacket a few months ago to replace my 2016 Beta AR. Thought I would try the storm hood and glad I did. It took awhile to get the hood dialed in but once I did it was a great perfect fit. Used jacket several times in torrential downpours and stayed dry. The new Beta AR is lighter than the 2016 and the versatility of movement is better. The only thing I miss is the soft chin guard.

Great general purpose coat!

I first purchased the basic Beta windbreaker which while very comfortable unfortunately I found to not be as durable. The Beta ripped with basic use but Arcteryx still covered it and I decided to upgrade for just a bit more to the Beta AR. It’s a totally different coat that feels much more robust and has stood up to the rigors of everyday life with some more extreme use at work.
Highly recommend this coat!

High collar. Plenty of space inside the jacket, around the neck (fits an Arcteryx Nuclei FL of the same size comfortably). The head rotates very well in a skiing or cycling helmet inside the hood. Solid color. High pocket placement. Underarm ventilation, inner pocket with a beautiful letter "ẞ," beautiful hardware on the zippers, very lightweight, no logo on the hood. All of this makes this jacket perfect for me!

This jacket is bomb-proof and I would highly recommend it for anyone hard on their gear or pursuing alpine objectives where you need the absolute best. This jacket is a tool to be utilized, and that's the best way to think about it. It's sized larger--so you can layer effectively. The hood is sized to fit a helmet--you'll need to cinch it down (a lot) if you're going without one. The material is 100% bomb proof--this means it's heavier, burlier, "louder" and designed to withstand all you could throw at it in the mountains. You need to ask yourself what you're planning on doing with this jacket. If it's just so you can have a nice rain shell, look at the other Beta jackets ArcTeryx offers. This is a jacket built to serve a serious purpose--not a jack-of-all-trades hardshell. The Beta LT could serve you better in that regard. This is a jacket for alpinists. Hard stop.

Material und Verarbeitung sind extrem gut. Die Passform perfekt. Man hat eine super Bewegungsfreiheit, ohne das es irgendwo zieht. Die Kapuze ist selbst ohne Helm perfekt einstellbar.
Es gibt nichts was man in meinen Augen verbessern könnte.

Perfection, a timeless classic

I’ve been using Arcteryx for 20 years, still my favourite brand. Good quality, functional and attention to details. The Beta AR Stormhood is no exeption. The perfect combination of protection from the elements, fit, style and functionality. The new stormhood is a welcome addition to the Beta AR. The jacket fits very comfortably, the fabric is tough yet soft and relatively lightweight. This is my go-to jacket. A true allround jacket for many activities.

It’s perfect. It’s a perfect jacket. The one thing holding the Beta AR behind was the omission of the stormhood, and good lads at Arcteryx came through. Love the cut and drop hem in the back, the material, the fasteners, all of it. This is made for life.

I had always wanted to try a beta because of the combination of materials that makes it light and packable, but after trying a betaSV I didn't want to give up the hood, which is wonderful...so this new beta has the best of all, goretex durable in exposed areas, lightness, wide and comfortable cut, RECCO, stormhood etc etc.. to look for a fault, it would be perfect if it had the large interior mesh pocket..bought in 2023, if you can, buy the kingfisher color, spectacular and at the same time discreet..
