Runs big

I bought the proton heavy because I love my old proton so much and though a warmer midlayer would be nice on colder boarding days. I would recommend sizing down by 2 sizes. My regular proton is a medium and after reading reviews that the jacket runs on the bigger side I ordered a small. Wish I would 've order xs!. 5'6 130 lbs muscular build

Best Jacket for Colder Ice Climbing Days

Absolutely love this jacket for colder days climbing ice in Michigan. I usually wear it in temps 20 degrees to -20 and really enjoy it then. I will climb in it and not get too hot or cold. Happy with the fit, especially when wearing it with my harness. Would totally buy again.

Staple for winter

I am very happy with this item. It feels light (not bulky) and very comfortable to wear. I really like the soft feeling lining. I have worn it in cold, windy and lightly rainy conditions and it has stayed dry and kept me warm. When I do get a little hot it breathes well and I don't get too sweaty. I like the fit but I am 5'7 so I do think it may be a little long on someone shorter.

Lived in this for the season

I love my proton and thought the heavy weight one would be too warm. I used this almost every time I went out this season. I either run really hot or really cold so I would typically take off my mid layer when touring regardless. This mid layer is so warm and still breathable.

Hands down my favorite hoody from Arc’Teryx! It is made from a thick cozy waterproof material that keeps me warm on cold days and dry on wet days. I also love the design of the chest pockets which almost feel hidden. Warm. Durable. Lightweight. You just cant go wrong with this one!

Love this mid layer

I’m obsessed. This completes my Proton family. What I am loving about this piece is the added warmth for ice coast resort skiing/snowboarding. I hate layering a ton to resort ski and I am typically freezing here where the lift line is long, the chair ride is chilling and not enough of a down to warm up or overheat. Using with a shell at -5C and below. I find this significantly warmer than the proton LT. It also has a baggier fit. I wear a small in both the LT and FL and they just fit but don’t leave a ton of room for layering. The Small heavyweight I can fit a heavy base layer and an oversized fleece under it. For reference I am 5’10 134lbs. I wear a medium Sentinel shell over. I think this will be a versatile piece on the east coast for sure

Awesome jacket, ordering a size smaller

Great jacket, needed a smaller size. My other Proton jackets (years old) are large so I thought that would be the size to order in new jackets, but I'm exchanging it for a medium. I like the chest pockets on both sides.

My everyday jacket

This was my first employee purchase. I wear this everyday, it is actually getting kind of gross because I need to wash it but I wear it everyday. Now I just need to actually take this touring. It seems decently packable for being a synthetic piece. It has a bomber-jacket type fit but with a nice warm hood. It makes me feel like I have a nice warm parcel of air around me and I am getting a nice hug. It is very breathable and light, but not flimsy and delicate. It really keeps a comfortable micro-climate. It keeps me warm, but is also air permeable enough that I don't overheat. I like the pocket detail and it really adds to the style of the hoody. I wish they made this in more colours.

Awesome warmer upgrade from proton hoody

I've worn the proton hoody for years, and it's generally warm enough for jaunts around town in an Alaskan winter. When I saw that Arc'teryx came out with a heavier version I had to have it. It fits slightly larger/roomier than the mid weight proton. I almost thought about sizing down but didn't. I suppose they made it bigger so you could layer but I don't think you need to layer since it's already a heavier coat, but that's just my opinion. This is my new favorite jacket for sure.

Great addition to the line.

I bought this piece for my wife but have used it a number of times skiing. Overall, it breathes better than the my Atom and provides adequate insulation for skiing without a shell at 0 degrees F on clear days. I imagine it would work very well for ice climbing. Interior stuff pockets are great for spare gloves or skins. I will likely buy another for myself.
