Over the Moon

I was at the Standford Shopping Center, looking for was an urban raincoat. Not too sporty, not too fussy. Something I can wear in New York or Europe and not look as though I just came directly off of the hiking trail. I do have plenty of hiking rain gear. At any rate, I went into Burberry thinking a trench might do the trick. Nothing fit me, and the coats aren't really waterproof. So I wandered into Arcteryx. I have plenty of Arcteryx for hiking, but thought maybe the longer pieces would do. They're great but very sporty. Then I spotted a rack called Veilence. I tried on the Veilance Ifora coat in black. As I said in my title, I am over the moon. The coat comes down to my ankles (I'm 5'1") so it will keep my legs warm/dry. It's sleek enough such that I don't look like the Pillsbury Dough Boy. But there is room for a fleece jacket or a sweater. And the black color makes it quite sophisticated. The sleeves fit, since I like my longer sleeves for my raincoats. I'm sharing this in case there are women out there looking for the same blend of quality rain gear, with an urban twist.

Great construction but too big

Wanted to love this so badly. As with all Arc'teryx, it is so well constructed, but at 5'2 and 115 lbs XS so big through the midsection. Otherwise looked amazing, not too 'rubberized' but is definitely a raincoat. They need an XXS.

NOT a trench at all. 100% raincoat only.

Unfortunately I returned this. I agree with the other reviewer who said she returned it because it wasn’t a trench but was more raincoat - I would even call it a rain slicker. I just didn’t like the fabric at all. Stuff, very noisy. Absolutely no use at all as a trench (meaning, as a light jacket that you might wear even without regard to rain). Really of no use at all EXCEPT as a raincoat. And so to me, it’s not worth the rather significant investment for such a limited-use garment. Obviously this raincoat is well-made and of high quality. But I was disappointed in the description as a trench when to me that implies a most versatile garment that would be worth the investment. But this isn’t that.

Beautiful but more rain coat than trench.

Unfortunately I didn't like this. I expected a trench coat material wise, but it's more of a raincoat. The beige color is very beautiful though, slightly more greige whereas in the pics it looks more pinky beige. The fit is truly oversize, and I got a more fitted look by size two sizes down. The cut is also elegant and flattering, but I returned it due to the material.

I wish this was 8-10 inches longer. I’m 6 feet tall and I would have preferred that it hit around mid- shin. I have the Alessa jacket and I wish this was similar to that in length. It’s really hard to find extra long rain jackets and this would have been perfect.
