This is my 3rd Arc'Teryx Bora. I also have the Bora 95 and Bora 63. The Bora 75 seems to try to improve upon the 63. I've taken the new pack on multiple trips, including a weeklong trip to Philmont Boy Scout Ranch in 2021. Capacity: The extra capacity over the 63 is nice. Especially if you are required to carry bulky crew gear, such as a crew sized first aid kit or extra water and food. We had to bring extra water to a dry camp one night at Philmont. I had room to carry an extra 10 liters of water than I usually carried. Material: The new fabric material is lighter than the 63. It's strong enough, just not as durable to abrasion. It's not stiff enough to hold it's shape. But all in all, the savings in weight more than makes up for it. Padding: The cushioning/padding in the shoulder straps and hip belt have been greatly reduced and not as luxurious as the 63. This was really evident under very heavy loads, like when I had to carry a total of 15L of water up a steep climb to the dry camp. I was probably pushing 80lbs total weight. Hip Belt: Something that has not been fixed was the issue with the slipping in the hip belt. Under heavy weight, I was finding myself constantly cinching down on the hip belt to keep it on my iliac crest. Again, this was under heavy loads of 50+lbs. Too bad the hip belt is not interchangeable between the 63 and 75. I tried. RotoGlide: This is the best feature in my opinion. You aren't stuck in a stiff backboard attached at the shoulders and hips. You are able to twist and pivot naturally. It takes some getting used to the shifting weight while navigating technical terrain, sidehills and negotiating blowdowns. After several days, many miles and lots of weight, it did develop a slight squeak just like the 63 did. Just carry a small vial of machine oil to lube the pivot point with you. Maybe if the pivot used uhmwpe it would have kept things smooth and squeak-free, but added a few dollars to the overall build cost. Side Pouches: One of the biggest issues with the Bora 63 was that the side pouch opening was so large and slippery that it was useless at holding a Nalgene bottle. As soon as you bent over or bumped it, the bottle will slip out. I've had to backtrack on the trail to find my lost bottle more than once. The 75 seems to have fixed this issue. It's also nice to have a zippered pocket on one side to hold maps, wallet, snacks, knife or other "tools" you may need quickly without needing to dismount the pack. Frame: The integrated frame sheet is light and stiff. It looks like weaved carbon fiber, but it's not. It's stiff enough. It holds weight and shape well enough. Overall, it's a nice pack. The drop in weight and price from the 63 is a nice welcome. But it comes with a few compromises. It's replaced my old Bora 95 for non-hunting winter trips or when I need to carry some extra bulky gear and supplies.
